As a native i gotta say the director of the movie and the composer of this song really captured the pain that comes with being a conquered and dying people. At one point in my life i could really relate to the brother who was mad and bitter at the world. But wallowing in resentment isn't the a way to live. We weren't the first people to be conquered and we certainly won't be the last. No one can escape the inherent suffering of life. This movie captured that well with the two men who had their daughters taken from them. Best we can all do is try to be kind and charitable to those around us.

We as humans need to do better. This movie and song deserve so much more than it got. THIS should be mainstream instead of the dumbed down movies these days. I will forever adore and love this film. There were some extremely difficult scenes to watch but, man, the dialog, the compassion, the wisdom, and so much more were deeply moving. I'll need to keep my eye out for more films written and/or directed by Taylor Sheridan.
