I used to sing with my dad… he was an excellent pianist and was raised up in church. We would sing all the old hymns and the elderly ladies in the neighborhood would bring their lawn chairs and their sweet tea to our yard and sit and listen to us sing through the open windows. He died a few years ago…. I would give anything to sing with him again. I miss him so much.

My Dad should of never had children he has my brother and myself I am the oldest girl I always tried with him last time I went to c him he pulled a loaded gun on my Mom and I just wanted him to meet his grandson when he pulled the gun in us tg I got my mom and I and son out of there then he died long time ago never shed a tear at all my mom was always the best he gave us nothing but headache so I never even cried at all

He had an excellent opportunity to know us when we were small and he dumped us. As adults again we gave him many chances to have a bond. Eventually you just have to cut your losses, you realise they're is just a drain, you're the one who can walk away and doesn't look back. It wasn't easy but I did the right thing. My father had Burl Ives' collection of folk songs. He would pull out the book of lyrics and start singing acapella... Before he finished the first verse he usually had three or four of us kids gathered around him. We lost him 8 years ago, but we'd lost him a couple years before that to Alzheimer's. Some of my fondest memories are sitting there listening to the history being sung in his deep baritone. Today I teach history, part of the reason is definitely because of Dad. He taught me to love music, he taught me to love history, and he taught me how to be a good father. About a month before he passed, in one of his clear moments, he asked me if he had done a good job. How do you answer something like that? Thank you, Dad. You done good.

This song Nick sang reminds me of how beautiful children are and how special they are for parents.
