Nick having been a 3rd rd pick was never given the time or opportunity to develop as a starter, like 1st and 2nd rd picks get. Those higher picks are given as much time as they need to deveop into the franchise QB. Because teams/coaches don't want to be seen has having reached in selecting the guy. Nick has always been labeled as a back up. Only because that is all he really had the chance to become for the most part. Yet he has always desplayed the ability of a starting QB in my eyes. He has one of the best deep balls I have seen anyone display. He is deadly accurate and thows with anticipation and timing. Give this guy protection and time to make his reads. He will shread any defense.As you saw him do in the play offs, in both of the last two seasons.

@Sunset West but if you listen to Eagle fans he is trash, a bum and so overrated. Nick plays under pressure better than anyone I have ever seen. Has one of the best and accurate deep passes as well. Yeah, I'm a Nick Foles fan and believer. If he had the stability to his career from the start, like most QB's get it's hard to imagine just what he might have accomplished. Thanks to knucklehead Kelly and now a few other crappy teams he has been playing on, we will never know. Because his productive years are passing him by warming the bench in Chicago. His only fault is he isn't mobile enough for teams coaches and owners these days. As I said on a fan's site for Nick, they seem to value a QB's legs more than they value their brains. If they dared to open their damn eyes they would realize that the only QB that has sustained true success is far from mobile and that is Tom Brady.

He was the best QB in eagles history with 1/10th as many chances than lesser deserving QBs got. The only “bad” season he had with philly was because chip dismantled his offense and he broke his collar bone. 1 of 3 QBs in history to play at least 6 playoff games with a rating over 100 in all of them. 3rd best conference championship performance. Best conference/Super Bowl combined performance. A .800 win record between 2013, 2017, and 2018. What he did for philly in 2018 was even more impressive than when he won the ring a year earlier. He beat the leagues best teams and almost repeated with Smallwood for a RB!!!

Chip wanted Bradford. Jackson, Maclin. McCoy and a few of the O-line guys, Herremans and Mathis either traded or let to walk. Still in spite of those losses he still had a 6-2 record in the 8 games he played before suffering the collarbone injury.

@@doloresguyer4466 exactly that one was on Chip Kelly. Foles was the guy drafted by Andy Reid and took over after the Vick era. Foles had a historically good 2013 season and won the division in Dallas on the final game of the regular season. He was having a good season before the collar bone injury in 2014 too. Sam Bradford era was a disaster and ultimately cost Chip Kelly his job.

@@justingoodhart8489 its not hindsight, I've being advocating keeping Foles here since the Super Bowl run, so have an awful lot of fans It's considered absurd to pay a backup QB 20 million/yr or anything close to that... my contention is they should've changed history and precedent and signed him.. look how many starting qb's get hurt even tho they are protected more... the backup is a vital, highly integral piece that can(in Philly's case) make a season or (Packers case 2017) break a season, and the good ones should be paid as such.. the only issue I would have is Wentz confidence with Nick behind him but he would just have to get over it.. But no , because NFL history considers that crazy and outlandish, Foles had no choice but to leave to get paid.. Eagles needed to think outside the box and needed to retain Foles---he only helped guide them to their only Super Bowl win It's not hindsight because it hasn't played out yet--Foles is hurt and we won't know if Wentz will be healthy or know how to win in postseason but I personally believe Eagles dropped the ball on this..

The ability to help the team in other key positions would be severely hampered. 2) Foles said he wanted to be a starter... so you then have to make the determination to either trade Wentz or let Foles walk. It's a layup of a decision. 3) Foles being hurt isn't an indicator that the decision to let Foles go is the correct one, it does however prove what many other Eagles fans have said, which is, Foles doesn't have a great deal of luck with his health either. This loyalty to Nick Foles because he won the Super Bowl was paid in full with a statue, a pay raise and allowing him to seek his own happiness that came with a big payday. Paying well over 30 million dollars in guaranteed money for Wentz and Foles would be an insane thing to consider
