It was a collection only listing so I drove out to an airfield (in an undisclosed location), parked up outside a hangar with a big green sliding door.. If you can't guess the rest, the door slid open to reveal a sea of red metal.. Ferrari and Maserati engines on stands.. amazing goodies from floor to ceiling. Although I still have the wheel in my workshop, it was nice to see this clip so I can be absolutely sure I didn't dream the rest of the story. It certainly made my day!

I was fortunate enough, in 1991 to see this car in Wester Ross, running late and heading for a rendezvous at Inverewe Gardens on a charity event run by Ecurie Ecosse and supporting the RNLI. We turned round and tailed it back to the car park and there were some stunning cars to behold, among them several Jaguar C and D Types, more Ferraris and the ex-Jackie Stewart Tojeiro Buick. No phones then and I didn't have my camera, but did manage to buy a programme showing all the entrants. Some famous owners and drivers that day and the programme is absolutely pristine, kept in very safe place.
