The story you’re about to see is a blight on Australia - a shameful episode in our recent history that powerful people have tried to ignore or cover up. And they might have succeeded but for the courage of one woman. Her name is Alysha and she made a choice that in reality was a no-brainer; what she decided was that no matter the cost or consequence, there is nothing more important than the protection of children.

Aussie government doesn't care they're still oppressing the indigenous people, why would they care about 'off the rails' children? white racist Australians are the ones in power denying any responsibility, it's the same for all child protection services in western society they simply don't care and always always pass the buck onto one scapegoat. I support what you do Nicky from Aotearoa New Zealand ❤❤

Thank you Alysha for being a human being. This is not only happening in detention centers but in mental health facilities also. Children on 15 minute safety watch left alone for over 4 hours and able to do major damage to themselves. When the video evidence brought to senior staff instead they turned it back on the parent as hysterical and dismissed. Just one of many stories. Child came out more damaged than going in. Thank you for holding them accountable and standing tall. You are a champion

Whistleblowers deserve FULL CREDIT for doing something your imaginary friend obviously isn't. Perhaps if your god existed, something horrible might happen to a child rapist BEFORE they had a chance to harm a child. Don't say god works in mysterious ways. That's a load of utter garbage. God works in EXACTLY the kind of ways a being who doesn't exist would work... NOT AT ALL. So how about you STFU about giving your bullshit imaginary superhero sky daddy friend the credit for the difficult self sacrificing acts of kindness and courage those whistleblowers deserve FULL CREDIT FOR. If you're god wants credit, he'd prevent it from happening in the first place, in a way that defies explanation.

I proud of all persons that spoke up. The sad this is that the issue isn't just in the youth justice, it is in all correctional facilities in Australia. If a complaint is made, head office instruct the facility management to investigate and report back. The facility management don't want to look bad or loose their jobs, so basically provide false feedback to head office and that's the end of it. No investigation actually happens and head office don't investigate the validity of the reported information. Pure dishonesty and corruptions from those who are there to protect!

The bigger problem is that too often people view poverty or people who come from broken homes as having some sort of moral failing. People need to get rid of that notion. As long as that belief continues then these "homes" and institutions will continue to exist.

@@Unknown-nf1se I arrived in 1970…on arrival,we were warned that neighbours didn’t bother each other often..like in uk it was normal to talk over the fence. We found this to be true. Australia was originally planned as a penal colony where convicts were sent to Australia to build a nation. Many had low morals and this appears to be part of the culture…drinking excessively often beer or rum. Rape and violence towards women was also a huge problem. It’s probably a good idea to read some true accounts of the first landings in NSW. It was horrific. I agree with your list that I found to be true…I was constantly mocked because of my British accent and called a ‘pommie’. It hurt a lot. Just remember and know you’re not going crazy and you’re not alone. My best friends were never Aussies but rather immigrants like myself from European backgrounds.

When an innocent prisoner is held unjustly captive in a prison for years, they get a monetary compensation! When the Government screws up, as it definitively did here, it is made to pay up as a compensation and as a punishment! In a just world, all those who turned the blind eye to the abuse, or/and were complicit, would have been fired from their jobs and imprisoned!!
