S1 E6 The Osceola Mudflow, also known as the Osceola Lahar, was a lahar in the U.S. state of Washington that descended from the summit and northeast slope of Mount Rainier during a period of eruptions about 5,600 years ago. It traveled down the west and main forks of the White River, passed the location of present-day Enumclaw then reached Puget Sound near present-day Auburn. The Osceola collapse formed a 1.8 km (1.1 mi) wide horseshoe-shaped crater, open to the northeast, almost the same size as the crater produced by the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens. Most of the Osceola crater has been filled in by subsequent lava eruptions, most recently about 2,200 years ago.

Born here in this beautiful Washington state. Absolutely love learning about our geology around here. And Nick is such a great educator, very well spoken and understandable. I was just a small kid when St. Helens erupted, my mom still has ash in a jar from it. Thanks Nick for the lessons 💯

I came from the deserts of Phoenix AZ where it's just flat land and the grid system is very simple to navigate as well as cruise on...Coming to live in Pacifica with my brothers for a few months and it was such a frustrating time for me navigating through Seattle and surrounding areas, really felt like nature was equally frustrated here and fought back at every corner when they were mapping/laying out all their road systems here haha... other than that it's a gorgeous place you could never run out of things to do, miss it a lot more than I could describe at times. So appreciate you and your passion for this little corner of the world!

Where I am in Arizona there's plenty of mountains and not many roads.

@@ericvulgate Ah interesting wish I could say the same although I was pretty much down in the valley in Phoenix which is almost entirely flat besides one or 2 noteable mountains like Camelback sticking out in the middle of the cities. Grew up around Goodyear, Avondale, and Glendale which is Western Pheonix. However I have been up to Flagstaff and I can agree AZ turns into an entirely different animal it's gorgeous.

The San Gabriels are being ground down…between the Sierra and Coastal ranges running east to west ..between the north south fault lines .. Is it connected .. to the theory of exotic terraines being in Washington?
