Having a dual threat QB is like playing with 12 players on the field
@teller12904 ай бұрын
There's dual threat and then there's dual threat. A person can be placed under that heading but be only pretty good at one or the other and good but not great at the other. In that situation, a traditional passer would likely be better. Nothing worse than be facing 3rd and 5 all night with a guy that just doesn't read coverages (like Hurts for two yrs, costing one and almost two natties, or Milroe last year getting schooled by former QB Harbaugh for all the marbles.
@ChadMilligan-c3w4 ай бұрын
@@teller1290That wasn’t Milroes fault he barely had time to touch the ball much less look for an open receiver . Not the same team this year much better offensive line. This is a new year and Milroe is much better under KD keep living in the past you beat the worst Alabama team to ever make the playoffs and had to do it in overtime congrats. Michigan got cooked by Texas already this year. How does it feel so early in the season? Ohio state will more than likely beat Michigan this year pretty sure.😂
@teller12904 ай бұрын
@@dhsu04 Been crimson since just before we landed on the moon and I loathe the Big 10. Call me a perfectionist. He had the same o-line vs UGA last year that he had vs Michigan a month later. Harbaugh, esp when it comes to QB psychology WAY better than Kirby, and he took Milroe to school. Milroe was powerless. The reason he seemed to have no timed was because Harbaugh was selling out and taking Milroe's first choice away, knowing Milroe can't read progressions. Worked like a charm. Milroe never made him pay for doing it. After fed see primary target covered, instead of checking off, he panicked and started scrambling and falling backwards, thereby ruining one possession after another. I'm guessing 20 lousy points was out low of the season. That was the easiest natty to be had in recent decades and Bama had it right there. Michigan wasn't any better than they were vs TCU the year before or vs UGA blowout year before that. But Bama made them look that way by having a true athlete at QB but not a true passer.

Saban got to be humbled. He wanted Milroe to be a certain type player according to Saban's mindset. Deboer just built the team around Milroe's mindset. That made all the difference.
@athhudАй бұрын
I wish you were right, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Neither Saban or Deboer could coach Milroe into being a title-winning QB. He is incredibly talented at running the ball, and can usually pull off a long vertical pass to 5 star receivers, but he just doesn’t have the QB mind and is terrible at hitting horizontal passes. Saban made it to the semi-finals with a severely inexperienced Milroe, a much worse o-line and a worthless center (probably would have won it all if it weren’t for Seth). Deboer’s o-line was slightly better, his center was competent, and Milroe at least learned where the line of scrimmage was. . . With all of those advantages, Deboer couldn’t even get them to a 12 team playoff in one of the weakest seasons in recent history. Don’t get me wrong, I like Deboer and think he can do well at UA, but to say he coached Milroe better than Saban is just ridiculous. Frankly I don’t think Saban ever fully understood how little Milroe knew about playing the QB position. It is amazing that he got them as far as he did last year. Sadly though, we will never actually be able to measure Deboer against Saban. The game has changed immensely with NIL, the portal, and entitled toddlers throwing tantrums. Hard-nosed Saban-style coaching doesn’t work with this generation of kids. It’s just a completely different environment. It’s going to take a calm mild-mannered coach (like Deboer) to see these kids to a national title, because as soon as you are a little “mean” to them, they’ll hit the portal. I firmly believe Saban decided to try it for a year, didn’t like it at all, and called it a quits. His heart just wasn’t in it anymore because he realized he was no longer coaching men that were trying to earn his respect. He was having to coddle children and tell them that they could do better on the next try. Discipline is out the window now. Saban excelled at coaching discipline. Unfortunately the consequences that are required to teach discipline can no longer exist in college football.
