@I-Have-The-CuckooКүн бұрын
And Bobby Wagner.
@johnfitzgerald8855Күн бұрын
One Ray Lewis doesn't play in the same conference so he doesn't crowd hawk out of the pro bowl. Two, Willis and Urlacher only made the same Probowl twice anyway, so for most of his career there were open spots for the second middle linebacker in the pb. Three, there can be up to 3 middle Lbs from a conference, and he was still left off those teams. Four, if you can't make top 3 in your position in conference for your position, you aren't close at all to all pro. He wasn't actually that good. Like he was benched in 2014 and cut from the team in 2015 when he was only making 4 million at like 30. He was abysmal against the run for most of his career. As a middle linebacker, that's like 60% of his job.
@IcyTormentsКүн бұрын
@@johnfitzgerald8855vintage non ball knower, it wasnt even Middle linebackers it was inside linebackers in general. And guess what aj hawks two best years the ILBS that made the pro bowl over him were Bowman, willis and and darryl washington in 2012 and in 2013 it was bowman, willis and a little known 2nd player named luke Kuechly.
@johnfitzgerald8855Күн бұрын
@@IcyTormentsthese are pointless distinctions, there hasn't really been 3-4 and 4-3 rigidity since like 2010. Its where do they line up in nickel personel. Hawk was inside the guards, in the middle. regardless of the position titles, he wasn't actually top player at his position in his conference. Even with injury replacements he was passed over. The team was consistently awful against the run; he graded terribly as a run defender.

As a packer fan who saw his whole nfl career, the only “knock” you can put on Mr. Hawk is his high draft position. Many people were hoping for a hall of fame career out of that spot. Instead you got a steady, available, and leading tackler. He had a great career, just not hall of fame, which is insane to expect. He will be in the packers hall of fame, as he should. Any NFL franchise would have been elated to have Mr. Hawk put on their jersey, put the packer fans, mostly, took him for granted, which is sad.
@thehalftimeshowКүн бұрын
Thank you Dan for your insightful perspective. I didn't realize AJ was taken 5th overall until I made this video. But he definitely was a solid player. Better than having a bust.
@dankrist5395Күн бұрын
@ I don’t like talking about draft position, cause of 2 reasons. 1. For the most part, it’s out of the players control. It’s up to the player to produce no matter how he gets to the nfl. 2. The draft is a crap shoot. Look at the amount of early round “flops”. Look at the amount of late round “hits”. The draft is a necessary evil and an imperfect practice that is widely accepted.
@MubikiКүн бұрын
This is how I see it too. He was a steady and reliable linebacker for the Packers for 8 seasons. He isn't a HOF, but he certainly wasn't garbage like some of these comments seem to suggest.
@dankrist5395Күн бұрын
@ yep. There where/are packer fans that blamed him for lack of a run defense. One guy doesn’t make a whole defense. Ask Ray Lewis. You think he could have done what he did without the help of the D-line and back field help? No. I blame TT for not investing more in our defense to help out the solid guys who could have grown into more. I blame TT for lots of things. He left a talented team hang to dry with his lack of creativity and free agency pick ups.
@APHill-ip8qtКүн бұрын
Most of his tackles were made after 7 yards of gain downfield. He was always chasing, rarely stuffing anyone at the line. A pure product of chemical enhancement. He sucked.
