So, no they didn’t… OSU a bunch of players to the transfer portal. So the idea that they retained players is not true… but the way you have to look at it is who did they bring in and why. Ohio state by far brought in the most “talent” even though it was only 7 guys in with I think 25 out the net gain based on player rankings was by far the highest in college football. So, based on production they definitely built through the transfer portal but as far as retention they lost a lot of guys still…

Ohio State last played Marshall in 2010 not 2004. In the 2010 matchup OSU smoked Marshall 45-7. OSU used the majority of the nil money to retain all of that talent, OSU brought in 7 transfers, need to get the accurate information out to the audience

The problems come when adversity comes. When a player transfers it is usually for THESE TWO reasons 1. There was adversity they believed they could not overcome (injury, lost starting job, unfulfilled promises etc. 2. There is a business (NIL) decision taking place When these guys transfer, you can’t bank on them to embrace the culture and buy in to the program. That problem happens constantly in the NFL and it is now happening in college.
