All p5 teams whether they are Bama and OSU or Kansas and Rutgers play weak teams. Playing a non conference P5 and either two group of 5 FBS teams or 1 group of G5 team and another FCS teams is pretty typical for all D1 teams.

It's a difference in strength of conference & face it some conferences are stronger than others. Let teams play 10 or 8 sec teams - we will see who's the best And yes sec teams play weak out of conference teams but not three fourth of our unranked teams within our conferences. Some conferences maybe have at most 3 ranked teams whats fair to play 8 ranked teams or 3 within your conference?

I’m from LSU and have massive respect for Coach Saban - you would think any of the Power 5 schools would want to step up to the challenge, especially being non-conference where a loss doesn’t denigrate your conference possibilities [eg, Texas & LSU this past weekend]. Then if you win your conference but have a loss to Alabama, I still believe it’s a win-win (and I think the media as well) because you’ve challenged your team and given them the opportunity to play one of the best teams in the nation - show your belief in your team, schedule the tough games and embrace it... they might surprise you‼️

The SEC is by FAR the most competitive division in the NCAA! So to even make it out of that conference alone is a hard thing to do! Look at Clemson's schedule they play 1 ranked team out of the top 10 in regular season and last year played a 7 and 6 Pitt for the ACC championship. They sit out there comfortably playing nobody's all year and nobody says anything about it. Look at Oklahoma's schedule this year they play no 12 and no 24 TCU how hard can that possibly be

Except for 2020, when no one had tickets, I haven’t missed a Virginia Tech home game in over 26 years. I stay all 60 minutes of play no matter the weather or the score. I can’t help but feel like player morale can only be better if people stay for the game. As fans, I don’t get people who complain about players not playing for 60 minutes when those fans themselves don’t watch for 60 minutes. Why would those fans care if they don’t even want to watch?

Alabama IS Alabama, so therefore they cant have Alabama on thier schedule to bolster thier SOS ranking the way au, miss st, Lsu, etc can. That doesn't mean much until you realize that your strength of schedule, or lack of, leans heavily on only about 5 or 6 teams you play in any given year. The other half of everybodys schedule in college football are pretty much equal, give or take a game or two. So yea, alabama will pay for its strength of schedule, especially in league play by virtue of simply being better than every body else. And this is coming from an Auburn fan.

Since 2007, Bama has played FSU (twice), Virginia Tech (twice), Penn State (twice), Michigan, West Virginia, Wisconsin, USC, Louisville, Duke (twice) and Clemson...............ALL IN THE REGULAR SEASON. The only team you can make a case that it was a weak one to schedule to begin with is Duke. Louisville was trending up when the game was scheduled, but Lamar Jackson went pro and Bobby Petrino quit on his team (as usual). Plus, Bama in the future has home and home series scheduled with Texas, Notre Dame, and Wisconsin, along with USC in 2020 and Miami (FL) in 2021. Seems like Saban and Greg Byrne are doing all they can.
