This is what a derby horse should look like, he has rythm scope snd power.

Same here. Looking back, I can't believe how fearless we all were! Rider w/ a broken leg? No problem. Paint the cast black& ride without a stirrup (which I did!). So many adventures!

yes I agree - Dublin (Ireland) arena (Ballsbridge) used to have a Double bank and Irish bank. Spruce Meadows, La Baule and Hickstead arena's should "never" do away with their "Natural" obstacles. We see "enough" coloured poles in the winter campain (World Cup qualifiers - Indoor jumping) - More Natural and nicer designed (unique designed) fences in International Show Jumping please.

@maritsada I've had to saw on my pony's mouth once, I hated doing it but he was just trucking me around a course, I have a few blood blisters and my hands were red raw afterwards he was that strong (out of character) I tried just picking his head up and letting him run (don't mind the running, he was shoving his head between his legs). He has a strong bit in as it is, so next time we put a palem on him. It worked to well, went back to his old bit and he was an angel :P

@maritsada sorry, i don't want to get into a fight about this, but, although it might not be the best, could you jump round here clear, or even just ride any of his horses?! because they won't be easy to ride! i can assure you that! x

what happened to all the natural jumping courses like this their are only 3 i know of La Baule, spruce medows and Hickstead. For me they are more challenging and a bit more of a thrill to watch. just my personal oppinion : )

@maritsada - Apollo was a big strong horse. Nick won International speed comps., Derby's, Pruissances, Top Grand Prix's, and Championship medals with him. Nick Skelton was, is and will always be, one of the World's greatest show jumping riders - I don't think too many little girls could have rode Apollo clear around Hickstead.

Panelo.....so let me get this straight, you've never ridden Apollo, never ridden at the Olympic level,...but your going to criticize Nick Shelton...lawd have mercy you got balls. I will guarantee that you would not be able to handle Apollo with your softened and supple approach. These are Grand Prix and Pruissance Jumpers.....the likes of which VERY FEW riders ever get to that level to ride, let alone comment on.

Just saw Pierre Durand riding Apollo was horrible to watch.. nothing like Nick does, he rode him beautifully left his head alone unlike Pierre
@Choppytrotty11 жыл бұрын
The only reason he sawed Before this round to get the horse concentrating and listening to him. The big audience, big fences, and a big galloping arena, I know it's be very tricky to get this big horse concentrating on you. Sawing will hardly hurt this horses mouth, it's just a plain snaffle, that is the least of its problems
@xxibitsuxx13 жыл бұрын
Gorgeous horse, lots of talent. My only complaint is that the rider is really heavy-handed on that bit! Seriously overboard on a delicate part of the horse. If you really feel like you need to work that hard to control your horse, go back to basics and work on exercises to soften and supple up.
