Hey folks, thanks for tuning in! Just a quick note before you comment. This video in particular focuses primarily on the visual changes that have been made, but the biggest changes to this game have been made to the available features and gameplay mechanics. I mention this at the end, but want to reiterate here in case you missed it. -New "My Team" mode to create your own F1 racing team from scratch and rise through the ranks -New 2-Player Splitscreen option (yes, even on PC) -Reworked handling mechanics -2 new tracks to race on (though they haven't added the most recent track currently being used by the league - can't remember the name of it) As a few have already noted below - the graphic quality may have been tweaked to improve performance on the console platforms. Still not quite sure why the PC version was affected - but the "downgrades" are not really noticeable in-game anyway

Hey, I need you to see this. The cars are different every year. Due to regulations every single car is different. I know you addressed this but essentially the cars are different from year to year. The changes each year is due to loopholes around the regulations. So, to be accurate, y u should have used a classic car to see the graphical changes. Been watching y u for years man. The trees and distant building textures were modified to optimise console performance. This is apparent when you see the frame rates these games push on the consoles. F1 2020 provides a solid 60 on both PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, something which cannot be said for the previous version.

That's not true. Console versions can always have tuned down textures to increase fps. The PC version will usually look way better anyway, there's no reason to tune down the effects on PC.

This video just showed the graphical upgrades (and degrades). If you want a more immersive experience to go with this year's changes to F1 as well as some added and improved features, then F1 2020 is certainly worth the extra $40 in comparison to the now outdated F1 2019. Don't be decieved, the gameplay is much different. AI races more aggressively and more like they want to win, and the My Team mode is something I will play for the rest of the year for sure. It depends on what you're here to play for though.

I think that the only improvements this game has over F1 2019 is the audio, weather, and features. Apart from that, everything is either the same or worse. Luckily it seems that they were more focused on things that matter the most (e.g. My Team mode, bugs, UI, and other features).

To be fair, you will only notice the texture downgrade on buildings and trees when you get up close. F1 2020 is quite an improvement, specially the sound is soooo much better and my team brings quite a bit more depth to the game and i hope they flesh it out even more in the future

If you have a wheel it’s so much better to drive than last years. Much improved. I’m sure it’s good on a controller to. Not a lot more they can do with current gen. But definitely the biggest improvements are in the physics, sounds, AI, traction and handling. It’s definitely worth a try someday.

Yeah, not surprised that the key graphical components are basically the same. They were probably more invested in developing the ‘my team’ component, and it makes a little more sense to invest in upping the graphics for next year, when the new, vastly more powerful, consoles will be out. Plus take into account that some of this will have been developed during COVID lockdown and all the difficulties of developing remotely (plus codemasters will have also been helping the e-sport races occurring)

agree with most of this, but i think the rain has been improved alot to be more realistic. in F1 2020 It's so good that sometimes it can be impossible to see anything further than 20 meters ahead of you when in rainy enough races, Tiametmarduk - another youtuber and e-sports driver - did a race in Japan and nearly crashed multiple times because he couldn't see where he was going. I would suggest a buy for this game - not only for the minor yet meaningfull graphical upgrades, but also for the better gameplay.

One thing I find missing in F1 games is the gearbox sound. I don't actually know if in real life you hear it but in LMP1 for example, the gearbox sound is sooo good. It's a part of the racing and it seems to be underappreciated.

Here's some major changes: - new super detailed game mode that could be released as a standalone game by itself - 2 new tracks to match up to the 2020 calendar - all other tracks have been revamped to match them up to real life better - driving physics significantly improved - AI improvements - full F2 calendar/feeder series - better looking/more detailed car models - much better force feedback on wheel and controller

@@FirstName69 I noticed right away when I played 2020 how much better it handled. Sound design and physics is noticeably better, and especially after playing 2018, the tracks feel much different to drive on. Almost didn't recognize some of the tracks.

The fact that people dish out $50 a year for the follow up is beyond me... You have to skip 2 or 3 F1 games before you notice any improvement in graphics. F1 2019 had some actual graphical improvements, and you probably wont see that again until 2021/2022. In the meantime they nerf texture resolutions in some places, and buff them in others. It would be one thing if these games were $20 or something, but they charge a premium every year, and I have no idea how they manage to sell them.

this is what ive been doing. Bought F1 2017, skipped 2018, and bought 2019 on a really big discount. Next one i'll buy will probably be f1 2021.

Coming from 2018, 2020 is definitely a big improvement. I'm glad I skipped 2019. Also graphical improvements aren't what people care about as much. It's new features, updated tracks, physics, sound design, handling, new modes, and online mode is gonna keep people playing every year too. 50$ a year isn't a big thing to complain about. It's like complaining about paying $50 a year for a membership.

@@nathanpickering6742 Well you would think with all of the money this studio makes selling games for $60 every year, they would at least have laser scanned tracks. Their sound design is decent in Dirt Rally, but flaccid in F1. Their force feedback models have always been extremely linear, and I've never been impressed with the campaigns. It's not like they're doing anything that well to begin with. The only way you can really enjoy an F1 game , is if you have a lobby full of competent drivers to race against. The AI algorithms will always be fast on the straights, and slow in the corners. Not just now, but forever. At least give us better graphics.

@@NikoBased I've heard the AI is much better this year. I haven't really spent much time with it so I can't say for sure. And I agree, it could be better graphically, but honestly the graphics look fine though. PS5 will have much more to offer in terms of graphics, so I'd say until then, just don't worry about how it looks on PS4, cuz it's really not gonna matter. If it still is only a very minor improvement on ps5, then I'd understand the complaints, but until then, I'd say just wait. Everything else in the new F1 is great though and it feels so great to drive, and that's the most I'm worried about in a game like this. The build your own team mode seems like it could be pretty fun, and online mode is just fun. I don't have much experience with these games, and I'm just getting used to my racing wheel, so it's not gonna matter much for me how good the AI or players are for a while.

again as i have pointed out in the comments this is true and its a common thing we annual sports games,if you are covering an official sports game like f1 its going to be allot of copy and paste and re used assets,its inevitable.what i would like to see is codemasters drop the licence to another top end eveloper as the ego engine is done as far as im concearned its an over ten year old engine this is why its starting to get that samy year after year look.

@@triuvm honestly codies did put a lot of effort into the new liveries and tracks. And the Handling and Career mode. F1 2020 isnt about getting the graphics even better as f1 2019 acheived it pretty well. Its about new content which i personally prefer over what way the tree looks that i never look at anyway. Dont underestimate the amount of work that went into the new game. Content wise its a huge leap forward

What's the most important thing in a driving game? How it drives. Damage models, physics, force feedback, AI opponents, online modes, etc. It could look 100% real with perfect lighting, run at 200fps on a 1660, but if the physics are crap, then I'm not interested. Sorry, but I think you've concentrated on the least important things in F1 2020. Review comes across as superficial and shallow.

What really nags me, when during a crash "totaled" the car is greyed out & automatically ur race ends. Why?? This sucks! i want that (immersion) feeling of losing control with parts & debris flying (even if the car is going to be totaled) and slowly coming to a stop. If the reason is not to hit other players/AI then just have the car be ghosted (transparent) so there no collateral damage... no?

Didn't mention how the tires progress through their visual wear more realistically now. They were already torn up when "new" on the inner side in 2019.

If you have a wheel it’s so much better to drive than last years. Much improved. I’m sure it’s good on a controller to. Not a lot more they can do with current gen. But definitely the biggest improvements are in the physics, sounds, AI, traction and handling. Even the tracks have been improved with bumps and surfaces. Also more realistic elevations and widths to tracks. It’s definitely worth a try someday.

Very true - I'm using Thrustmaster's T300RS currently and it was way easier to play than F12019. Still need to get used to the wheel as I got it earlier this year, but it's a game changer for sure

Nick930 Yes definitely. I’ve had a G29 since December 2018. It took me 6 months to get used to it coming from a controller. After a year I’m very comfortable with it now, it’s a lot of fun on any game.

Dude, the cars change every year is not only a cosmetic change , every year they have new regulations (like the shape of front wings, nose, etc) the liveries change as well, and i really want to know how come you have Toro Rosso in your F1 2020?? It changed its name and colors to Alpha Tauri for the 2020 season.

The one thing i hate about f1 2020, is the fact that you cant downshift as quick as you want. It's so annoying to have your car not downshift when you want it to. I feel like it happens every other lap

I do love that they reduced the graphic detail on surroundings. I've never been one of those "oh look at the pretty scenery" when racing. Instead the cars look much better and performance is nicely consistent on my PS4 Pro. Perfect to better appreciate my own custom team 👌 Perfection

If the handling has been enhanced with input from real F1 drivers, then that's a huge reason to upgrade. The driving experience is the only thing I'm interested in.

I haven't played F1 since 2014. I have 2016, but never ever played it because of lack time. Now you can buy The Bundle - all games up untill 2019 for a cheaper price than you would 2020. Still, I find it difficult to motivate myself to take up F1 again if it is not the latest game. Buying all the previous ones telling yourself that you would play through them all at one time, would be quite an over reach.

i liked in f1 2019 u could hear the turbo while accelarating but u couldn't really hear it while decelerating (which i honestly didnt care about) but in f1 2020 the turbo could be heard much more while decelerating
