The chosen spaces are gorgeous. Most are quite neutral, minimal and scandi in style. I think I'd like to see a video of "subscribers homes I don't actually love, because they are not my style, but are fabulous rooms to love anyway," I'd like to see more eclectic/bohemian/art deco/rustic rooms with more personality, colour and pattern. I think it's easier to pull off the neutral palette, minimalist, scandi style ,as furniture and accessories in this style are so readily available at good retailers.Mixing styles while injecting more colour, pattern and personal items is more difficult to get right, and I'd like to see spaces where subscribers have done it well.

I also would love to see one just of "pet friendly" homes. There are so many little details we as pet owners incorporate into our homes to make it look nice AND work with the animals. Cat shelves vs a cat tree is a big one! Or people who make little cut out nooks just for their dog and it matches the design of whatever the room is....would love to see everyone's pet spaces!

Quite lovely spaces, but on the stark side for this maximalista😂. Thx for suggesting the one person lower⬇️ the art 🖼 centered above their sofa 🛋. My biggest pet peeve is art hung too high⬆️. 😊Do love a floor to ceiling library bookcase wall, esp. one built over a doorway or opening. It can be great in cosy traditionally stained wood w/ornate detailing or a simple modern classic version in white like featured here. 📚Books bring such warmth to a place, esp. when the homeowner enjoys reading actual books. Even better when there are intermixed w/other much loved 🗿collectibles🏺. BTW, coordinating books by color or putting them in matching dust jackets is NOT always about being "designery" or hip. 😳There are highly sensitive persons〰️ even diehard maximalistas like myself〰️who internally 🤜battle🤛 w/a bit of claustrophobia. However beautiful, cleverly collected, & curated〰️such an arrangement can FEEL quite imposing, heavy, & busy. As if the weight of all that good stuff can literally topple over you. 👁👁Staring at such a big, busy library wall & their contents can be extremely overwhelming at times for some folks. Although I wouldn't mind sitting opposite that one on a lazy day in a cosy chaise in a corner where I can take a break at reading, dreaming, doodling, etc. to quietly observe the whole tableau or each individual cubby display as desired. I simply wouldn't find it restful FACING😵 all that literary glory in a dining room, living room, or a bedroom. Places where you're meant to unwind & relax after a hectic day. Of course, there's a few tricks to minimize that overwhelming feeling. №1️⃣: Build🛠 that baby on a side wall where you only catch glimpses of it from your peripheral vision👀; №2️⃣ Locate it on a primary wall BEHIND the main 🛋seating💻/sleeping🛏 area where you'll only be focused on the immensity of it all when either entering or exiting the space; №3️⃣: Think about adding a strategic combo of solid & glass doors to help minimize all the drama; №4️⃣Make the books look less busy & hectic w/all the various colors & sizes. The uniformity of the book display will immediately calm your beleaguered senses. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

PART 2: 😊Created an elegant faux built-in bookcase wall. Using trim, molding, & paint: unified 4 tall double wide + 1 tall single wide Billy bookcase. We picked the longest main wall that spans from the 2nd opening of the kitchen to the sliding door of the balcony opposite. This wall basically serves as a backdrop to the L/R. It's opposite the 🖥media📻wall & adjacent to the fireplace🔥. So, from the seating you can 🤓see both of these key focal points. 📦As we were unpacking box after box of his beloved books, I could see his anxiety levels rising😵‍💫 just thinking about all the crazy confusion of colorful book jackets. This is a man not prone to maintaining his media in any complex order. Going alphabetical by genre or author would NEVER work, so I asked if I could try an experiment the next day when he was at work. Sorted them all by color, subject, & last size (big to short). The majority of his books were in black (film related) & white (biographies). Oddly enough, the other misc. colors were not only in similar shades, but also in similar topics (don't recall the exact genres after all this time😔). ▪︎Filled each end bookcase w/those two main colors. (Kept all books on specific filmmakers, filmmaking, or famous persons together.) Lastly, sorted each shelf by size. Placed ⬅️black books to the far left & ➡️white books to the far right. ▪︎The 2nd case from the left carried over more black books. Red books were the next largest grouping on the left. ▪︎The XL coffee table & cookbooks were stacked & sorted by color, size & subject in the single center tower bookcase. ▪︎The 2nd case from the right had a carry over of white books, blue was the next largest color grouping on that side. Plus, there was a smaller mix of orange, green & yellow covers. 😃He instantly felt more at peace w/this cohesive color arrangement👍. 🪛That's when we decided to add doors to help dial down⬇️ that color drama even more... I added 8 IKEA doors that were glass on top & solid panels below on the 4 big Billy's.The bright, noisy display got even quieter👏🏻. Ultimately, I shifted 🔃 the books a bit to keep the less important majority colors (& also some of minor book colors) below⬇️ the glass. Plus, he could keep now his large collection of standard sized cookbooks & baking books (that were all mismatched in color🤪) sight unseen together below. 😁He's happily lived w/this configuration for 7+ years. Plus, once the shelves were full, he's kept to a strict policy of "1 in=1 out". 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

I like eclectic dining room after dog in living room. The lived-in rooms feel more organic than the picture perfect rooms - not even a single phone charger. Or is it around the corner of the picture is a pile of kids toys or laundry? 😂 maybe someday I’ll be able to cram all my crap behind hidden cabinetry.

The parquet floor room breaks a few rules you preach on. the furniture is pressed up against the walls and the rug is either too small or poorly placed.

Hi, that's my home. I would love to have some ideas on how to decorate it, if you like to share your thoughts. I Just moved in, so it feels kind of empty still. But I already love the buffet and dining area.
@Lovesapuzzle
@Lovesapuzzle Ай бұрын
@@luisafalcao720 Oh boy. I'm not a gifted decorator. I just know that actual decorators, including Nick, say that a rug should be large enough for all furniture in that seating area to have at least their front legs on the rug. I don't know if you need a bigger rug or if it could just be placed differently. They also advise against pushing furniture against the walls. I don't know if the size/shape of your room allows for that. Bottomline, it's your home. Do what works with your life and makes you happy. I do love your parquet floor. It breaks my heart when people tear them out for being "dated". Parquet is classic. You are lucky to have them.

This video is invaluable to those of us who are learning the general dos and don'ts of how to make a space look comfortable and beautiful. There were some obviously larger and "lifestyles of the rich and famous" type spaces (exaggeration), but many more "real" and accessible spaces that I can use to relate to my scale of decorating. Who knows...maybe one day I'll be able to send you some shots of my home : ) Thank you thank you thank you.

I’d love to see you do with your subscribers who are renters. We are military, and I wish I had a fireplace, or able to have more than just boob lights(I hate them). I did do stick on tile for the kitchen which isn’t like “nice” per se but I love how it looks and make our boring base housing.
