Thank you for these tips! I’ll go implement them now…in my Animal Crossing houses. Until I have enough money to do it in real life hehe

I called out the 20 pillow on the bed trend when it started. It's idiotic. We are a nation of consumerist zombies. Just make it stop.

Open shelves are by far the worst. Especially in the kitchen where the air can get greasy and what not and now all that stuff is on all those knives and god knows what that´s hanging around. Same with clothing and everything else. Cabinets for storage and so that dust does not get everywhery. God I hate open shelving. Get a damn glas door if you want to display your shit.

My husband was a custom builder and often put in really nice door knobs and dimmer switches for mood lighting. My parents built a custom home and didn't go for the nicer door knobs but the doors were all solid. I love finishes because you get so much more bang for your buck~thanks.

I have seen people building a home go for the basics on faucets, door handles and things that can be upgraded later and invest instead on higher ceilings, wider hallways, things that can’t be retrofitted easily

What products do you suggest for lighting closets? No outlets, gotta be battery operated and easily used.

I like my sofa & chairs to match , however the rest of the furniture doesn't all different shades of brown which works really well

21:19 Pictures on walls - Is it just me who finds that skewed look irritating? Spirit level essential! Carry a mini one with me when dusting cos what I think is straight, quite often ain't! And how many of us are here for Nick's snark cos we've already got our homes up to designer level? Lol

I think of Nick every time I drive by my neighbor's house at night. One front window has a lamp with warm light and the other window has a lamp with a super bright cool toned LED bulb. Thankfully, Nick does not have to see this abomination.

I bought almost all my furniture second hand. The one exception was the sofa, because upholstery hangs on to smells and who knows what happened there. Buying second hand let me get solid wood furniture at a reasonable price.

Some people just find anything to complain about, all you can do is pity them for being so negative. "Oh you said this is a good idea?! Well what about *garbled hysterical pearl clutching noises*"

Another tip: Don’t put your TV above the fireplace. 1. TVs should be viewed at eye level 2. Avoid placing electronics above a heat source. 3. If you can’t avoid the top of the fireplace, you are not that creative! 😂

The tip about light switches also goes for kitchen tools. When it's an item you use every day, like a paring knife or a chef's knife, buy the best ones you can afford. If you are a handyman, buy good quality tools the first time and you'll have them for 30 years. Also, I want Nick to know that my drapes go to the floor. 😇😇😇

I’ve seen dozens of waterproof natural fabric shower curtains (and waterproof cotton tablecloths) on our local Amazon (we don’t have it here). And they are not much more expensive, than a standard shower curtain. Seems like two of them eats your space too much, so here’s an easier option.

Im sorry nick i do have different light temp bulbs in my living room . This is why, i have two ceiling lights which i would say they are warm but more on the bright side due to the fact that im sensitive to bright lights but need to see if for example im looking for something., i have a very bright standing lamp for reading, sowing etc then i have a very different style of standing lamp that is just a warm glow , for normal evening use ie watching tv with my candle s on , or having a glass of wine & chatting with friends

Instead of an island in our kitchen we have an oversized moveable butchers block. All the extra work surfaces we need, in a different colour to the rest of the kitchen so it stands out and we can move it where we need it when we need it.. plus I agree with all his other points. Someone people simply have no taste or individuality.

My biggest pet peeve is white rooms with brown doors, just paint the door to match the room and it immediately looks more expensive.

Many original paintings are expensive or are in museums, does buying a famous work in a large size and with a good print make your house look cheap? I mean paintings like Van Gogh's works from nature.

4:37 hon, it’s TikTok, think about the age of the majority of the audience and you have to remember that their parents have helicoptered them so badly that they have a hard time not following directions exactly. I am just happy some of them can even see a safety concern.

My goal is three layers of window treatment: the outermost, a blockout curtain in some heavy fabric that suits the colour scheme. Behind that, a sheer cream or white linen. Behind that, Venetian blinds. Sometimes I want that diffused glare-free light coming through the sheer linen to be a bit less than full blast sunlight, you know?

I disagree with one point of your argumentation: If you have to take money from TEMU to make a living, your business model is wrong. 🤨
