Francis Chan Sermon: Suffering

I died when I was 3 . God told me among other things I’d suffer. I’ve realized it’s part of the process . Yes we need to speak this TRUTH instead of focus on the blessings as miracles. Suffering IS a a blessing !!!!!

Not to steal anyone’s thunder…… but for 3 yrs.. ever since the Holy Spirit came upon me., REALLY came into me, compelled to follow Jesus 1000%.. I’ve suffered non stop. The very worst of the worst in my 60 yrs on this earth. No idea.. how Francis , who is my one and only go to, is saying this. Just so so overwhelmed.

What touched me even more than the message from Francis, which is completely true by the way, is to see some devoted young guy following the Messiah no matter what it costs and taking the bible seriously, making no compromise. You are right, a lot of people do not want the truth. A lot of people want to feel good, they want to be blessed and prosperous but they do not want the cross and no cutting of the sword. Continue to go tge straight path and do not let discourage yourself! Be blessed.

This was a killer message literally 😂. This like the seed thrown on rock but then his sermon comes and you never go to church again lol I struggle with this too myself in all seriousness. It says it in the serenity prayer. "So we can be REASONABLY happy in this life and supremely happy forever in the next life with you lord"... its a hard pill to swallow but its for the greater good.

NKJV says: Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, The flesh is the old man, and yes our flesh is going to come across so many attacks and we will keep on suffering when our focus is set on the flesh... If our mindset is set on the Spirit within us and remembering that the attacks of the flesh is what Jesus went through... the hurt and pain will cease because of the understanding you have gained. I am a witness to this. To God be the glory!

Sufferings such as enemies, threats, unfairness, persecution, death, imprisonment, hatred, enmity in family, people taking advantage etc…. This happens regardless of what our minds are set on but they happen ESPECIALLY when they’re set on the things of the Spirit…

I've been falsely accused over and over for the past two years. I've lost almost everything because of an unequally yoked spouse.. I've been through so much hell in the past two years but I've seen God carry me through different situations. Being in front of a judge, and facing accusations that you've never done will teach you so many things. This hell has brought out a different me.. it's built me up.. But I just ask that y'all pray for my next court situation..Please pray for me and my situation. God will know who you're praying for.

Sorry, this is long. Our life as believers is to glorify God. It is all about the kingdom & salvation. Those who introduced me to church made me believe it was no more suffering & pain. nothing but blessings. I was disappointed for years until I read the Bible for myself & I learned abundant life is the life of growing The kingdom of God through spreading the good news, which we call the gospel., Loving God with all my heart, mind and soul, and loving others, as I love myself. Abundant life is when God ask Solomon what can I give you, and Solomon said, give me wisdom to lead these people. God said Ill give you wisdom and more than you asked for. as I serve Christ he takes care of me. It may be something a healing or it may be something someone stepping in to pay a bill. Abundant life is not about things or rose gardens. it’s about the kingdom of God and while you are doing the work of the kingdom God will take care of your needs. My abundant life is every month my bills are paid and a bit goes into savings… I’m not in bed waiting for someone to change my diaper… all 5 senses are on full blast… all my kids are drug/jail free… I have hope after I die… etc. However, my best abundant life is each day I walk out and pray for someone and tell them the good news of salvation.

The Lord only wants you to know that you are a sinner, and in need of a savior. The Lord wants to save you, and then walk with you in this ungodly world so that you can bear fruit and be a witness of the Light. Jesus wants to fellowship with you here and right now he doesn't want you to be deceived by these false prophets. JESUS wants to help you overcome all the wickedness that comes against you in your thoughts, and your ungodly desires. Jesus wants you to know the truth about him so that you can be set free and forgiven of your sins. Jesus doesn't want you worshipping a false teaching of him. JESUS wants you to know him according to the scriptures. The bible says you will have tribulations and trials, and problems of the day, and they will hate you because they hated him first. The bible says don't let wicked people seduce you, or lead you away from him. The devil will go out to decieve the nations, hold fast to what Jesus done for you according to the scriptures. The devil wants you to use your Bible to look up verses about prosperity, but God wants you to look up the verses that teach about him and about being saved (born from above) born again.JESUS wants you to be secure in what He has done for you. The bible says in The New International Version 1 john 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know THAT YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. John 17:3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. Don't exchange the truth for 2 cents. What good is it that a man gain the whole world but loses his own soul. ARE YOU GOING TO BE THE WITNESSES HE CALLED YOU TO BE? I must confess that I struggled with this until I met suffering at a level I never imagined. Growing up an American Christian, I had the subtle belief that suffering was for other people. Sure, you might be ridiculed for wearing a Christian Tshirt, but my warped thinking was that only real bad people suffered or saints back in NT days.....and then in the span of two years, I was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, Primary Hypertension, and more...I lost the ability to work, to even being able to walk independently, and more....and I had to wrestle with the idea that maybe the Bible didn't say what I thought about suffering that I assumed it did...and even now as I deal with chronic pain that doesn't stop....I'm realizing that I could keep trying to blame this or that...or I could develop a faith that doesn't stop

How does the suffering of a parent having cancer help you get away from sin?

I hope you can step away from yourself during this time when your mom needs a little help. As someone who survived cancer, I can say there is no understanding of WHY. My kids were in early 30s, so if you are much younger, that's very hard. I was satisfied that my kids were established in their marriages. I was no longer their only family. They had family. I've always been private about problems. My daughter-in-law found out about my cancer diagnosis before I did. She was able to look up my test result because she was a nurse. When I went into hospital for my second surgery, I opened my eyes, looked down at the foot of the hospital bed...and there were the children. I was not happy. My first thought was, "if it isn't bad enought that I must deal with this cancer, now I have to deal with the kids." What a downer. * Everyone has different opinions about what doctor, what treatments, what surgery. My friend Joanie refused chemotherapy. Ironically, she had avoided chemicals in things like cleansers and even bug spray all her life because she was afraid they would give her cancer. More recently I lost my best friend Rosemary. She had a kidney removed years ago and the cancer had slowly spread. She chose to have no treatment at all for cancer that was slowly growing in several places. She had seen the suffering of those who suffered years of terrible sickness from treatments, only to die at the end. * i prayed honestly prayed that your mother gets through this like me. There are a lot more successes than there used to be. Because my kids were there, I made decisions that included what they wanted--what they seemed to need. My husband left me the day after my first chemo treatment. After more than 30 years of marriage, I was very sick and I wasn't going to be better in a few days or a week. I guess I had no value? He said, "I can't handle this," and he cleaned out our accounts and left. Stand by your mom. She will need some help. But the bottom line...the biggest lesson is this. Bad things happen to good people. When I recovered, I had a whole different relationship to the homeless, to the drug users and even to a few prostitutes I met. Bad things happened to innocent children, and those children became damaged adults. I had worked in the church. I had memorized many verses, but chemotherapy had temporarily damaged my memory. All I could remember is "God is good, and his mercy endures forever." God is no less good today than he was on the first day when Light came into the world. We were made to be his beloved children. People did not care for one another, or the earth, or even him. Now, the earth groans together with the Godly. Bad things happen to good people. I have been with the dying when Jesus comes. It is true that we never experience death. Our heart, soul and mind are not physical, but that is the "me" that steps away with Jesus when he comes. And then, the body dies without me. A believer never dies. I hope your mother has many more years to be with you. ♡

The lifestyle for the Christian is never painted as one of suffering on a constant basis. The reason people suffer is because they’re ignorant of the truth of who they are in Christ, or the reject it. My life is full of joy, peace, love, laughter, hope. It’s because I put off the old and put on the new. No suffering whatsoever took place. Only healing. It is a flat out lie that conquering sin requires suffering. It is the goodness of God that leads a man to repentance: Romans 2:4. Much of this teaching is nothing but word salad and strengthens no one. Read Ephesians. This is your life. Set you affection on the light, power, strength above. You’ll be at peace and you won’t suffer.
