I've gotta say thats one of the coolest things I've seen. Some people say cleaner wrasse don't work well, (maybe for normal sized aquarium fish im not sure) but this would prove them wrong.
@superdragon30602 жыл бұрын
cleaner wrasse get bored of cleaning and harasse the fish, ive seen it happen in a 3000g in the wild fish can get away from them but in captivity the cleaner will take chunks out of fish and stress them out
@NDracorex_2 жыл бұрын
@@superdragon3060 Some fish mimic cleaner wrasses. For example, a species of blenny called Aspidontus taeniatus has evolved to tear small pieces of flesh or skin from bigger fish rather than rid them of parasites. It is called the false cleaner fish, and looks very similar to actual cleaner wrasse. Some people get them confused which is what leads to this.
@cfaul992 жыл бұрын
Only 2 of my 15 fish allow the cleaner wrasse to pick at them. One is a purple tang that is always being cleaned
@olivera67432 жыл бұрын
@@NDracorex_ ye bro that’s not true. Cleaner wrasses certainly can harass fish, it’s not just an identification issue

Nice! I think you should get some cleaner wrasse just for the quarantine pond, that would work super well!
@log43652 жыл бұрын
It would but then the cleaner wrasse might get sick as well and they might give the diseases to other fish
@theallusechannel2 жыл бұрын
@@log4365 1. Most fish in quarantine ponds don't get sick unless you bought them from Petco or Petsmart, or other chain pet stores that aren't privately owned. Fish bought from privately owned pet stores like the one Nick visits or straight from the wild typically don't have disease because they live in generally stress free environments. 2. Even if disease is spotted, most of the time, and actually most ailments that affect aquarium fish in general, are parasites, which as seen in this vid, cleaner wrasse eat parasites. Cleaner wrasse also are generally better equipped against disease then most fish. 3. Finally, even if disease does spread from cleaner wrasse to other fish, they can be treated easily and they will be in the quarantine pond long enough for easily noticed symptoms to develop, and they can stay in the quarantine pond for treatment or until the disease runs it's course.
@log43652 жыл бұрын

@@theallusechannel ye this is straight up bad advice and not standard quarantine etiquette. Marine fish disease is not as simple to cure as your making it out to be, ich is no joke.
