Hi Nick, I know I've asked this question before.. but can you describe the differences in image quality between the FS Scout HD vs the other Goggles with HDZero module you use? Thanks.
@NickBurnsFPV2 жыл бұрын
The scout HD goggles have a very nice image, its hard to describe the difference. For me I think the difference comes down to our own vision and ability to adjust, the scout hd cannot adjust but is friendly to various eye sight and ipd. On goggles with more adjustment we can focus the image, possibly, more than on the scout hd and thus the image may appear more sharp/clear. With all things being equal how to image appears to me in the different goggles is very minor, if i only look at the image and don't actually fly I think the scout hd image looks slightly better. But in flight I enjoy the smaller goggle form factor.

I'm curious about the 2s-3s Elrs Aio! I'm guessing it has the ceramic antenna right? And it fits underneath the HDzero vtx?? Wouldn't that affect the range alot? And increase the gap needed between the Fc and Vtx? I asked happymodel for an elrs aio with a ufl antenna specifically so we can mount something on top of the Fc like a runcam split lite, or Hdzero vtx. I would like to see a close up pic of where the Elrs antenna is at.
@DonJohnsonFPV3 жыл бұрын
I agreed on bulky ceramic antenna for tight build. But didn't really see the point on external antenna on ELRS, betafpv micro immortal is nearly twice the weight of an ep2 rx... You rather just ditch that ceramic antenna and replace it with a 31.2mm wire.
@NickBurnsFPV3 жыл бұрын
It does have the square antenna between the boards. And yes it does impact the range. I have other builds similar and find the remarkable range of elrs while impacted in this build the range it still well more than I would typically fly. I have taken a build like this as far as I could see video on a 400mw vtx. The take away for me, is we will still lose video before we lose elrs control link

@NickBurnsFPV3 жыл бұрын
well it could be what we call board orientation, motor rotation or props on wrong. Look at the image of the quad in the betaflight app, does it move 100% like the image? if not we need to adjust board orientation. Next would be the motor rotation. again in the betaflight app look at the configuration page to see which way betaflight expects the props/motors to rotate. If all four motors don't match the betaflight image use blheli to change the motors to rotate as epected. Last is the props. The high edge of the prop need to lead the way of the rotation. If all those things are 100% we should be able to fly normally.

Given that you can tame 2S by scaling throttle in BF (interior|exterior profiles), the addition of HD to such a light platform ... pretty SWEET! Once again, thank you Nick for such a great presentation! It's so informative that I have to constantly pause it and note those precious information nuggets 🙂 I would still like the possibility of an HDZ Whoop on 50|65mm bi-bladed props (which could possibly carry up to 2S 720mAh LiPo); Easily stretching flight times beyond 5 minutes! Just make sure you have the beeper/flashing LEDs to help you find your Nano! Reduce the whoop rims. Make it a lighter prop guard (a simple surround - the 4 props). Sure! 1st thing to break, but make those interchangeable/sacrificial! Keep the electronics in a 'capsule'.

Cool whoop! I’ve been “ruined” by DJI FPV video so much that I don’t enjoy flying my analog Mobula6 anymore. So the idea of HD indoor whooping is very appealing to me. However, I found my old 1102 Mobula7 on 2S to be just overly fast and heavy to be fun to fly inside my small house at race-pace and unfortunately this new whoop would likely be more of the same in that regard.
@KOrnhOliO13 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I agree. We're ruined by superb image quality and the ability to fly around houses, walls, etc. and get amazing penetration and keep the clarity! :) Why is NO ONE experimenting with building an Ultra lightweight whoop with a Naked Vista in it? Look on KZbin, almost no one is doing it, and the ones that are there, and there are very few, are heavier than the lightest whoop to date, the BetaFPV 75X digital. If you already have 1102 motors, do you have a Mobula7 frame and can you do a Naked Vista and put together a whoop that'll BLOW AWAY this snow filled, zero penetration, not impressive to me whoop with HDZero?! My BetaFPV 75X Absolutely KILLS this wantabe digital whoop! No comparison! The HDZero whoop is fine for inside, but as soon as he tries flying around a neighbors house, that isn't far away at all, you can barely see an image to keep going! :(

@@KOrnhOliO1 I have a lot of DJI quads and still end up flying more analog because I am able to fly more at my house and in my yard. I now very much regret not picking up this system when it was on sale for $100. Any close to whoop size DJI quad I have owned was still too heavy to fly inside or even in the yard without risking a dent in a car or a broken window and generally flew like crap. So I reused the cameras in larger builds. I think the video quality is pretty damn good and still might get this for the smaller stuff.
@KOrnhOliO13 жыл бұрын
@@kurtzFPV The BetaFPV 75X digital is only 54g and it flies fine inside for me. It will be great flying in my yard or at parks 3 minutes from me. I also have the lightest 3.5" Toothpick - the Happymodel Crux35HD. I haven't tried it yet in my yard because Oregon is constant rain this time of year, but I know it will be great to fly outside in small areas. I can shave another 10g off it by making it naked Vista. Reasonably priced too, and nicely built! I think you just have to look for the lightest options. Most of the DJI whoops are a total joke they are so heavy. I just do a lot of research. I do mostly fly my mobula6 25,000kv inside though. The DJI V2 goggles work fantastic with analog...such great image quality and such a cheap mod! :)

@@KOrnhOliO1 I ended up with two Crux35hds. I bought one when I first saw them come out, then couldn't pass up a second when RDQs had them on sale one week for $269 along with a $150 gift card over Christmas. The vista and camera alone were worth that lol. I love flying them, but no way would I go full send with them in my yard- one wrong move away from denting a car or breaking something. The fastest quad I go heavy in my yard with is the Crux3. Granted, my yard is much smaller than Nick's and maybe yours and I have to fly out front. My neighbors already give me funny looks flying the Crux3. I had the Thinking Pig (P16) when it first came out and flew it some, but it flew pretty badly at any decent speed and was still a bit heavy with battery added. And I'm not a big fan of prop guards outside. To me it was too heavy to fly inside other than at a slow cruise, which gets boring fast. And it still had enough weight to break things inside. I might not go all Nick Burns in the house with this mobula 7, but I'd feel a lot more at ease moving around pretty fast than I would with any heavier quad and it would be a blast in the yard, prop guards and all. This thing is only 41g. Add a 300 2s, and we're talking only 60g AUW.
@KOrnhOliO13 жыл бұрын
@@kurtzFPV I got my Crux35HD on that same deal from RDQ! A real nice design. Happymodel was so damn cheap, that's their first ever DJI digital quad, but they cheaped out and sent the reviewers the analog version! No reviews for the digital, so that quad got no hype on KZbin! Look ... The only guy posting any videos on that HD quad is a guy from China that's a Happymodel pilot. One guy! Such a shame, cuz that's a great quad at a great price! The lightest HD 3.5" Toothpick on the market! They blew it. 🥴 I hope RDQ brings those gift card bundles back. Those were awesome! 👍 Yeah, when I heard it was 41g, and my BetaFPV 75X digital is only 54g, I knew we digital guys could easily get one built that is in the 40's grams. Well, just going to 1102's saves 4 grams, and a different canopy could save even more. I think a different frame is necessary because the naked Vista is mounted in the canopy, not the frame, and it should be there lowest component mounted in the bottom of the frame. Look at a GepRC Cinelog25 and you'll see how they got the center of gravity super low on that quad. As is, it's kinda top heavy. The heaviest component should be the lowest, right? That's what I think an ultra light digital whoop needs to have. Have you got an idea of which 75mm whoop frame would accommodate the naked Vista in the very bottom? I've been looking and haven't quite decided on a frame. But, going with 1102's easily gives us 50g, we can knock off a few more and be really close to that 41g, but with crystal clear DJI digital video. Do you have any 1102 motors, cuz once we find a frame that will allow low mounting of the Vista, the rest is so easy! Got any ideas on which lightweight 75mm frame to use? If we figure this out, it would save you a ton of money, because you have the DJI gear and hardly have to buy anything! You got the best now, no reason to buy a whole new system because we can get close to that 41g and still keep DJI's clarity and penetration. 🤔😎🤘

Looks great! When you take out the price of the HDZero setup, you're getting the power unit for basically $70, which is a good price. I like seeing the USB-C port on the FC, but I don't care for the canopy shape, doesn't look like it gives a lot of protection to the camera. Being that a 1s vtx is not available yet, this is probably one of the best options for getting into HDZero tinywhoops right now!

What looks great? The image quality is still so damn poor! He could barely fly around a house just two doors down and the snow was a screen full of a BLIZZARD! Barely flyable. JB and Blunty played back Nick's video in their weekly news update, and JB remarked at how Nick wasn't really very far away from his house at all. Flying a Caddx Vista equipped quad I'm positive I could fly that same flight path Nick took and get nearly no break up at all. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if it did that same flight crystal clear the entire way. I just don't get the excitement of HDZero! Sure, the camera gives a better image than the original ones, but there's still ZERO PENETRATION and soooooo much snow! :(
@wilmesz19923 жыл бұрын
@@KOrnhOliO1 Ummm, are we watching the same video? Because I didn't see any snow on here, only a great HD image on a lightweight 2s whoop. If you're referring to his 1W vtx test he did clarify that the construction of houses in the area impedes radio signal, so I guess unless you were willing to go test a DJI system in that exact neighborhood you'd be purely guessing as far as that assumption goes. I'm sure you'd get a little better penetration, but I'd be curious to see how much blurring and latency spikes you'd be getting at the same time, no doubt at least a little. I'm going to stick with my lightweight Skyzone goggles with OLED screens and diopter adjustment on the wonderful HDZero system rather than those big clunky LCD DJI goggles that somehow still manage to give a decent picture. Too bad no one else can watch while you're flying without buying their own expensive setup!

@@wilmesz1992 Man, is that old news! Ha! We've had Digiview for about a year! We can have anyone download that app, or hand them our phone, and they plug right into their phone and watch the FPV directly. Super simple and awesome! I was referring to when he flew around the neighbors house, a couple of houses down. Barely even get around it and he wouldn't have if he weren't an experienced pilot. Almost lost the entire picture. He knew it would possibly come back around, and it did. But, HDZero has so much snow it's crazy, even at 1000mw! Terrible when compared to the best. No penetration at all!!! I'll be he could fly a DJI equipped quad with the 1200mw mod which is close to 1000mw and he'd barely get ANY breakup at all. Heck, use 700 mw! Use a 120fps camera and get low latency and have a gorgeous picture the entire way. Remember, he's only maybe 150 - 200 feet away! Not far at all. Even JB remarked how he wasn't far away at all. HDZero just isn't impressive in the least bit when you've flown and got used to using the DJI FPV system. Plus, now your VTX / camera combo costs about the same as DJI does, and it doesn't have a receiver! If one owns the DJI radio, you don't need a receiver, cuz that too is built in. way, Way, WAY TOO MUCH HYPE about an HD FPV system, HDZero, that is about 10 - 20% better than analog. Biggest problem is, it's just not a good value for your dollar! Paying that much for such little improvement isn't a good deal. Where as upgrading to the DJI FPV system gives you the very best, by a long, Long ways, that FPV had ever seen. Nothing is even remotely close.

@@KOrnhOliO1 Ok bud have fun flying your overweight digital system in these tiny whoops. 19g for DJI vs 6g for HDZero. You can't tell me that 13g doesn't make a performance difference in something that small. Anyways I'm glad you have something you enjoy to fly, as do I. I remember a couple months ago how you were telling me that digital was the future and I needed to scrap my analog equipment stat, well I did move on to digital, but I guess that's invalidated because it wasn't to your digital system of choice lol. Hopefully DJI continue to support that system even though they've used it for their purposes and moved on to Occusync 3 now.

@@wilmesz1992 Naked Vista = 9.2g ... Polar Nano = 2.7g ... total = 11.9g HDZero 20x20 board = 5.9g ... latest camera = 5g w/mipi cable ... total = 10.9g HDZero whoop board drops weight by 0.5 grams. Now, everything is only 60fps, with almost ZERO penetration - Ha! That must be what HD"ZERO" stands for! LOL ;) I think it's more like 1 gram difference, A N D that's with up to 1200mw for DJI, where HDZero is only 200 mw max. That new MASSIVE 1000mw board won't even fit in many 5" drones, so that's out. P L U S , DJI's system can go for a 120fps camera which only adds 0.8g (Nebula Pro Nano). Kicking ASS and taking names! LOL So far we are only talking about weight, which is very similar. The BIGGEST difference is obviously in performance, in which there is absolutely NO COMPARISON! Crystal Clear image quality with DJI and super blizzard like conditions with HDZero - Zero Penetration too ... Where DJI really, REALLY kicks it's butt from here to the M00N! Come on Man, be real! DJI is the best FPV has ever seen in picture quality by a long ways. Let's call it a 10 out of 10 because nothing has ever been close to as good. So, accordingly, let's call HDZero (penetration ... LOL) a 5 out of 10, with analog at the very best ever, a 4 out of 10. I can't logically and honestly give HDZero any more than a 5 because it is so far inferior to DJI that it can't possibly rate even a 6 out of 10 because they are not in the same world, let alone ballpark! Please be honest with yourself - there is absolutely no comparison in image quality and penetration. Heck, Nick Burns could just barely make it around a house "maybe" 150 - 200 FEET away (200 FEET is a stretch too because that wasn't far at all), and then he had TOTAL WHITEOUT Blizzard conditions in snowy picture. That was testing the new 1000mw VTX too! You and I both know that DJI can get around that house with barely any degradation in image quality from crystal clear. I'd jump all over HDZero if it was good. I'd be a huge fan, simply because I want the ENTIRE hobby to go to digital FPV ... and the sooner the better. But, with the Consumer Electronics Show opening TODAY in Vegas, and Orqa supposedly showing their digital FPV system, hopefully it is great! That might cause HDZero to be so far inferior to both DJi and Orqa that it can't compete and it may be last in a 3 horse race and people stop supporting it. Orqa wouldn't have to be up to DJI's system, but half way between DJI and HDZero and competitively priced and then people would have to really think about going with the last place digital FPV system. What if Orqa's digital system is BETTER than DJI's? That really spells trouble for HDZero!!! I was in the electronics industry for 35 years. If this happens, it is very possible HDZero would slowly fade to oblivion. Not saying that's gonna happen, but I've seen a distant 3rd place system die because it was borderline good. HDZero is exactly that - ANALOG2, and not a good value for the slight upgrade in quality vs. analog ... not a good way to invest a person's money with that little return. :(

@@NickBurnsFPV Remember when I asked you what motors we could use to decrease the weight of the lightest DJI whoop? ... The BetaFPV 75x digital whoop. Well, I was thinking 1102's, because it comes with 1103's, and I think 1102's would be doable. With the Naked Vista 75X already at only 54g, with 1102's that should drop it down a gram a motor. The 1103's weigh 3.8g where the 1102's can be had at 2.8g each. That drops it down to only about 50g. The canopy while very solid, BetaFPV says that's to protect the naked Vista, but I think some weigh can be shaved off of it too. It comes with the Nebula Nano V2 camera and the Polar Nano is about 1 gram lighter, so there's a little weight reduction there too. Maybe using this same frame used in this video's build could save a bit more weight. I think we could get an ultra light build with the Caddx Vista in a whoop down closer to 40 grams, like this HDZero whoop. That would be soooo much more interesting than this whoop that can barely fly around a neighbors house, what? Two doors down? and not very far down the street. I'll bet a DJI whoop can fly around that house and still remain almost crystal clear. Do you have a 75X digital? I sure wish people would experiment with building the lightest ever DJI Whoop. I've scoured KZbin and there is virtually nothing! No one is doing it! A great topic for your channel, Nick. Because unlike SharkByte ... ERRR ... HDZero, the Caddx Vista actually has awesome video quality, penetration, and there's a HUGE user base that would be very interested in a lighter DJI whoop! :) Sorry, but I can't say I'm very impressed with the HDZero whoop because of the gigantic amount of snow, making it barely flyable, going around a house a couple down from you. With the amount of snow HDZero still has, and the almost non-existent penetration, I just don't know if HDZero will survive. It's been around pretty long, had lots of work done to improve it, and I still don't see that much improvement over plain ole' analog. Sure, it's a little sharper, but it has no range around objects - penetration, and soooooooo much snow! It's got such a gigantic long way to go... :(
