I built a HD 65mm whoop (walksnail not hdzer0) using the new NBD cockroach v3 frame, I must say this frame is the best HD frame because it has bottom and top FC mounts, so you can fit both boards securely into a "slammed" style build. This was my 4th or 5th HD build, so I've cut the wires shorter, got everything mounted perfectly, no excess wires dangling around, and on top of that I got tinywhoop 36,000kv firefly motors. I run it at a 85% motor limit and this thing is a beast, my favorite whoop so far!

Great review! I think analog usually looks good indoors, but it's flaws become obvious outdoors (the red and green static, flashing, dropping to black and white and the "shimmer" in tree canopies all drive me crazy). The HDZero Eco system costs no more than a good analog VTX and camera but are so much better than analog outdoors that it's not even funny (for only a few extra grams). Analog may win for the absolute lightest builds, but this review video has got me seriously considering buying a HDZero receiver so I can try HDZero through my Fatshark HD02s. Maybe I will finally convert if/when they release the Mobula 7 ECO!

This is the first video that made me think about jumping onto one of the new VTX technologies with the lower priced VTX on my favorite whoop but the cost of goggles is still a lot. I took a break from tiny whooping a couple of years ago waiting for the HD FPV technology to improve and come down in price but it seems that all the competing HD offerings come with tradeoffs and may never be cheap like traditional analog. I used to fly a MOB06/TaranisX7/Eachine goggles (super cheap for this hobby). I think maybe 3 years ago I was looking for longer/clearer FPV video feeds, possibly with sound and longer transmitter range. I think ELRS took care of transmitter range but DJI/Walksnail got heavy and HDZERO seems to have the same range as analog. I still check in on Nick's new vids because he's such a straight shooter and likeable guy (him talking about the playground whooping without upsetting the parents is exactly why I got into tiny whoops) and I'm still on the lookout for a light/long range/inexpensive setup but I'm still looking for the best all-around solution and for the price to come down a bit on goggles.
@KOrnhOliO111 ай бұрын
Go compare like I did. The analog mob6 video from a few days ago looks almost as good! Certainly not worth the almost $800 to get fully into HDZero...$600 goggles, antennas, battery for goggles, etc. I think the analog mob6 is 90% as good , if not more! There's never been much difference between Analog and Analog 2... I'm just gonna buy the analog mob6! After all, we're just flying FPV, not trying to have the local TV station play it on the News! Lol Analog version looks outstanding without all of the expense! I'm buying it! 😎🤘
@NickBurnsFPV11 ай бұрын
The "HD" systems are probably always going to be more expensive and for micros add to the weight. Unfortunately we could see that change as analog vtx costs could start going up. I appreciate your confidence and kindness coming back to the channel even when your not flying. I hope it is time well spent.

Now, we just need cost effective HDZero goggles. Well, they did come out with the new analog/HDZero monitor for $175 USD which I am strongly considering. Even though JB and others say the you should fly FPV with the monitor and definitely NOT consider it as a goggles replacement, it is the cheapest method that I have seen yet to view (and fly) the HDZero feed. At this point, I am all analog. One reason for me to consider the monitor is because it does have the analog de-interlacing feature. So, I would primarily use it as replacement for analog goggles and get the HDZero viewing as a bonus. Still, the monitor is the cheapest way to view or fly HDZero. Of course, I would use a light box, shroud or something (maybe even just a black cloth like the old camera days, Ha, Ha).

No I don't see a regression, just the opposite for me. My video was so long I opted to cut out the "cruise" flight, this inside flight I slow down somewhat with the same camera angle. The flight time went up on average 25 seconds. Up to our current generation of "light" 65mm whoops to get 2 minutes of flight I would often have to either slow down or fly half the flight at my normal pace then do the second half of the flight with close proximity. The mobeetle is one example of this.

You’re right, analog can look very good if you take the time to optimize and the useable range is better. That said, the biggest difference that I notice is the lack of color fringing and flashing that some analog systems exhibit, no matter how good you’ve set them up. To me, HDZ is an outstanding evolution of analog and I find myself using it for most builds and buys going forward. For indoor whoops, especially 65’s, I’m still in the lighter is better camp. But once I can build a sub-20g HDZ 65, I’ll be using it there as well.

I am very torn, do I get the mobula 6 HDZero or the regular mobula6 analog. I already have the HDZero Goggles. I tend to think the Eco would be the better choice but on a FPV Discord they told me the weight increase is to heavy. About 6 grams. Is this really that much of a difference? I fly for about two months now and want to get something I can just turn on and rip in my living room for 20 minutes without having to go out and take an hour or more. Can you take this one and loop it around chairs and tables?
@NickBurnsFPV7 ай бұрын
I suggest holding off on buying an hdzero whoop in the short run as they have a AIO with HDZero built onto the board. Keep the weight in mind, on a whoop that is 20 grams adding 6 grams is a 30% increase in weight and thus the performance impact would be close to that percent.

Hi, nice fly. Do you lower rates or expo for such a smooth fly or its pure skill/sticktime. Find out today big problem. Hope you can help me solve it. Went to fly my Meteor65pro, but it didn't work. When plugged in battery the motors do the beep sound, but nothing else. ELRS receiver is not working, neither VTX. Betaflight or PC doesn't see the drone when pugged(can se other drones, cable/betaflight/drivers are fine). Not sure if it does anything to do with it, on my last fright it says heat alert 74*C, but I landed immediately. What could it be and what can I do to help it. Thanks.
@NickBurnsFPV7 ай бұрын
I have a link in the video description to my rates. Same on all quads. If the flight controller doesn't detect the receiver the second set of tones will not be emitted. If usb connection isn't working I would try a different cable and or computer. USB cables go bad, drivers get messed up. I disable the core temp warning mostly as I have never seen it be an issue when flying. If the temp warning was on screen while flying (forward with some decent movement) and we weren't hovering I suspect something was damaged in the previous flight.
