This is actually nuts Nick! The fact that you can fly this Apex 5” in your backyard with decent success is saying a lot! Lightweight allows control like no other. Full sized full weight quads would have quite the difficult time doing the same thing.

not a bad addition to the EMAX line. Things I have heard about the use case for this drone is for racing with a lighter weight quad = less breakage since it is lighter (less mass during impact), or as your first race quad, per Jon E5, makes sense.

Hey Nick, have you thought about planting something where the swing set used to be? Maybe an evergreen tree or bush so it will keep it's leaves so they don't go in the pool. Evergreens are great! Will give you something nice to look at in the winter and spring, other than bare branches. Are people racing these in countries that require under 250g? Hmmm, I don't get this quad?! Using those skinny batteries isn't the best, that's for sure! They kinda such when compared to the fat square ones. I love my Babyhawk 2 HD. It comes in at 141g with the Caddx Vista inside and the Nebula Pro. Again at nearly 185g, I don't get this quad? Awful small lipo needed to stay under 250g. Hmmm.... Oh well, at least it's a 3.5" or larger, so it doesn't use those proprietary parts that their smaller quads they make use. I won't buy those. Even the motors have an oddball mounting pattern. 👎 I love how the Emax Babyhawk 2 HD is fast, probably not this fast, but it does weigh about 44g less. It also freestyles great, and can fly long range flights of over 20 minutes with a li-ion battery! It really will designed and seems to have more off a definite place than this puzzling quad. Right around 8:20 someone says "geez Louise" and then it sounds like "learn how to control dude..." Was that you or was there someone with you? It comes across as really critical to me! I mean Geez Louise is one of my long time sayings for really as long as I can even remember... so "Geez Louise, everyone is a critic" Lately I have been feeling more and more tired of controversy, the politics that we live with are pathetic, then there is Remote ID that in its worst form could really threaten a simple hobby for all of us, I mean "Geeze Louise don't we all work hard enough all week, so why don't you take away our fun time..." And of course the "which digital system should I get... We are all quite fortunate to have so much awesomeness available to us, may not be cheap but it is likely affordable for most people even if one has to save up for a little while. And watching you fly this drone around your "track" - WOW, it is so much faster, or at least my uneducated eye is telling me that it is so much faster. It was fun to watch though and it is inspiring! I for one think that this is a really big step forward for EMax, a company that a few years ago seemed to be a "bargain brand" but this seems very much like a solid mid tier product. The price, yea, hard to say but let's say that inflation has had an impact here, is the price where i should be - I am not sure, I am inclined to say no but I do not think it is a rip off either, I am not fully up on pricing as the last quad I bought was earlier this year but $400+ is a decent chunk of change. It is a very nice looking package and if HD Zero is your thing then this quad looks like a winner. I really have to say i am loving how much cleaner wiring is getting with integrated boards, etc... And by the way, your property looks very nice! May I ask 2 things - what state do you live in and what do you do for your day job... I live in IL and i am very tired of the ridiculously high taxes although if not for that I would love it here. Anyway thanks for all you do Nick, I really look forward to your videos!
@NickBurnsFPV2 жыл бұрын
lol, that "geez Louise" was me when I was flying, vs my video narration over the top. While I don't do live narrations of my flights (I often put 30+ flight before review), sometimes my "live" responses make it into the videos. Those thoughts at the end are supposed to be chopped off but the narrator in me got to long winded and didn't wrap the final thought up. I agree the time we are living in is very extreme, it feels like only the extremes get attention and that attention is often extreme as well. The extremes breads more extremes. I like to keep my location private, I have had few people that have been scary persistent in wanting to come to my house. Something I never thought of when I started making videos. I will say I am about 8 hours nearly due south of you. Most everything is likely cheaper here as its largely rural America. I have been working in IT all of my professional life. Stumbled into IT after college, went back to school to get my CIS degree in my early 30s. I was never a great student, but pretty decent at figuring stuff out, I think that is why I have stayed with IT work. Really right now is probably my retirement job, the least technical job I think I may have ever had. Weird how things go. I spent a year in a large metro area in 1999 (Y2K scare time). While it was a great time to be in IT ($$), I found a big city didn't suit me, so I moved to a much smaller "town" very close to where most of my family had migrated to years ago. Most of my adult life I have had second jobs, not to stuff the bank account but rather something to fill my time with and generally things I enjoyed. I am pretty fiscally conservative, don't need much to keep me happy and fulfilled. It has worked out well as I hope to retire before all the kids are off to college. I want to go bother them in college as much as I can :) Our backyard is coming along very nicely. We will be done with this years projects in the next week or two. We need to replace the fence and build something to cover the pool equipment, but that can wait. Projects can be exhausting even when I am not doing the work. :) I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment, leaving a bit of yourself out on the wild internet as well ;)

Also I am very happy for you, working second jobs, etc... it really sounds like you deserve some great stuff. But since people misinterpret things so easy, read into things, add in content that was never said... I just want to say that anyone and everyone deserves to live decently nowadays, we are just way too advanced to not have that be the case. yea, I get other parts of the world that are quite poor... I really don't have answers and don't want to open a can of worms, again i just feel like there is enough "wealth" in this world that people should at least have clean drinking water! Yikes. A co-worker has a private charity that he started and every year he visits places and brings them water and water management technology to collect, distribute, clean and filter the water and the equipment is paid for, the installs, everything is paid for. I was very impressed and since then it motivated me to have taken action myself... I am super grateful for everything that I have and that we have here in the good old USA. people should remember that sometimes. Geez Louise! Don’t buy from their web sight. If you do they will ask you to return it for repairs as opposed to sending you a new quad. They will also try to blame you for the failure. That being said the BabyHawk 2 HD is in my top 3 of all time (once I got the bugs worked out). However that battery lead location is a problem. It flies like a dream though. Emax does a good job on the tune for that drone and I never changed a thing except the rates. I like to fly slow and cruise around and get good video and that drone will fly for 10 minutes on an 850 and carry a Naked cam no problem at all.

Thank you for leaving your experience with emax products. Its good to know when experiences aren't as expected.

@@NickBurnsFPV Emax has great designs and ideas, but the product is not always up to par. They are a little pricey for having quality issues. I love their products but I think twice about buying them because I always seem to have some kind of quality issue right out of the box. That BabyHawk 2 is a fantastic drone though. One of my favorites for versatility, flight time, and it's pretty quiet and smooth. You can mount a naked cam on that drone and get fantastic and even Cinematic shots. It can fly very slow or pretty darn fast. So I like them, but they let me down quite a bit.

@@Nine_883 understandable, I would hope Emax QC and support would be of the higher tier. I think more and more companies are allowing support to take a backseat. Support can be tricky as well. Sometimes I see FB postings asking for support where the OP didn't contact/email the company support. Or even yet, some have and then move to public support requests as they didn't get a response in the official communication method. Support is often an individual doing the job where it likely needs a team or at least two.

@@NickBurnsFPV Support for me was send an email then wait until the next day for a reply. Most of them are that way because of the time change from China, but I was dealing with the USA office in California and the time change was only 2 hours. So yes one person is not enough. Emax is very popular on Amazon and they sell a lot of beginner kits. They need more support personnel. The best support I have ever had from a drone company was my very first drone and it was a Holy Stone $49 Amazon special. I quickly bought several more Holy Stone products and although their products were generally less than stellar they were always very helpful and would send you a new drone if you even mentioned sending it back to Amazon. They don't do FPV as far as I know, but in general they are overpriced and the quality is questionable, but the customer service is outstanding!!

@@Nine_883 Interesting. I am familiar with HolyStone, they send me emails pretty regularly to review their products.

Why?

None of them have sound included in the dvr, the fligh audio in my videos is from a secondary camera sitting near me brought into the video via editing.
