early nickelodeon feels so different...
@ZemeckisTEN3 жыл бұрын
Yup. It was a completely different channel run by completely different people at that time. I’d say Nickelodeon has come a long way since those early days. Granted, they’ve devolved for a long while, but they’re getting better.
@Tornado19942 жыл бұрын
It was horrible. Up until 1984. When Fred Alan Inc took both MTV and Nick away from Warner Amex and turned things around, forming "MTV Networks,Inc" with Bankrolling from Viacom and MCA Television. The REAL History of Nickelodeon begins in 1984. I've ALWAYS discounted those first 5 years.

I actually remember these promos. Our cable provider started carrying Nickelodeon in 1980. I didn't really watch it yet because none of the shows that put them on the map were airing yet. I actually started watching Nickelodeon around 1982.

These are the bumpers I remember. The mime was the first one on Nickelodeon back in the day, before the silver ball era. They had so many good shows on back then, starting with five hours of Pinwheel! This network has sadly gone downhill in recent years, but at least we can remember the good days! I could go on for hours about it.

If you were a child in the late 70s-early 80s, it frankly would be strange if you thought the network were equal to or better than it was when you were a child. I assure you that all of the kids today prefer their Nick. And I say that as someone who, using emotional reasoning, feels Nickelodeon peaked in 1996. :P

Actually, I’d say that Nickelodeon has gotten better over the past couple of years. And that’s mostly thanks to the new President of the channel, Brian Robbins (co-creator of All That), who has been the president of Nickelodeon for the past 2 years. He’s promised that he’s going to make the entirety of Nickelodeon 100% creative driven. He’s also promised a whole slew of original content as well as a bunch more of reboots and revivals. I’d say Nickelodeon has a bright future ahead of us.
