I don't find it boring at all, but then I am getting older and don't need too much excitement in my life. I find Wisconsin to be a place full of polite, sometimes quirky, people who are a perfect blend of Midwest and Northern culture. Lots of fresh food, beautiful natural settings, and a decent economy. Cost of living has gone up in recent years, but its still not crazy high. There's lots of wide open spaces and not too many people. My major fear is that one day I will have to move back down South. Born and raised in DePere, WI (no, my family is not rich). My job transferred me to Minneapolis, MN and I was there for about 10 years. Plenty of gastro-pubs and nightlife, but it never really felt like home. Nobody talked to each other, parts of the city felt _really_ unsafe, and renting there was _expensive._ Glitz and glamour but superficial. Moved back to Green Bay to help out my aging parents a few years back. Man, I missed this place! Affordable, safe, and friendly. It felt like _home_ again. Not as exciting as the big city, but it just feels right. Like, I can relax and live in peace.

Years ago, Broadway (on the west side) was the biggest bar/nightlife scene... but it was gentrified starting in the late 90s, and is now mostly shops and restaurants. On weekend nights, go to Washington St and parts of Main St, and parts of Ashwaubenon and Main St in DePere.

There's a great coffee scene you totally missed in GB! Also it definitely seems like you know what you're doing so I'm sure you know all about the Fair Housing Act which has some pretty clear guidelines on talking to specifics on cities/neighborhoods.

I used to do customer service for spectrum. People would call in from across the nation and they would often ask me about myself. When they found out I was from Green Bay I’d always make sure to tell them that it’s actually illegal to not be a Packers fan here, and I know of at least 3 people who were arrested for it. The amount of people who believed me was shocking lol

Broadway used to even have more bars. There used to be the "Broadway Challenge" where you'd try to drink one beer in every bar from one end of Broadway to the other. Broadway has cleaned up its act a lot in the last 40 years.

This winter was way too warm. I was barely able to ice fish down here in southern WI. Anyways, we moved here about a decade ago. It was the best place for us to earn well and the cost of living is low.

Nick- Absolutely love your channel, you are very talented and so easy to listen to in most scenarios you cover. I have lived in Wisconsin my entire life with the exception of one stint on the East Coast for two months, but other than that, this is where I called Home born and raised in Rhinelander, Wisconsin and now I have spent the last 25 years in Madison I can say that you would fit in anywhere in Wisconsin because you seem to be an all-around nice guy who is just passionate about people and that’s an admirable quality If you ever make it back to Wisconsin, let Mel or I would like to meet and have a couple beers, watch some Wisconsin sports and just kick back. Looking to do any fishing, camping hulking water skiiing snow skiing you name I can get make it happen. Thanks for doing what you do and knowing the difference between just running your mouth so to speak verse providing us with great entertaining content Charles

Welcome to the good old Midwest Nick! Plain and boring. No Hurricanes, earthquakes, homeless hoardes, volcanoes or climate change issues (the Lake freezes over some years and others not, the levels always fluctuate up and down 10 ft., climate change hype). Best fishing in the world. More beer than you can drink and enough cheese to lock you up for a lifetime. We love it here FIB and cheesedick alike. Stable healthy lifestyle. You can keep Florida, California and New Yawk. We're it and we know it! Thank you.

Idk man, I lived in madison for 32 years, just moved to orlando for a job opportunity i couldn't get in wisconsin. The weather here through the winter was insane, drinking outside year round, golfing year round, not having to freeze in my car in the morning on the way to work, not having to look at disgusting brown melting snow piles right now, etc. Yeah I miss my home but its pretty awesome other places!
