This was a festival, It was Nickelback's manager fault to put them on the same night as Slipknot who was finishing the night. On the next day they put Oasis with Guano Apes. I think the promoters wanted diverse days with different styles but it didn't work out. Nevertheless, nothing justifies throwing stuff at bands

Their generic, boring sound is so boring and so generic that they are literally the very definition of Baudrillard's concept of the hyperreal, which, as nickelback so perfectly demonstrates, is completely in simulation. I dislike them because I hate the way they sound, the content of their songs, and because their frontman is a total douche. Most of their songs I’ve heard sound like a douchebag Bro trying to ape their way into sounding like they have talent or soul… but instead come off as riskless, non-committal drivel. They’re also from around where I am, and so we got to hate them a good 5 or so years before the rest of the world. It IS a solid bonus that a bunch of other people all around the world feel the same way… it’s like a lingua franca for rock fans and metal heads. Say, “Nickelback sucks” in any language, and we’ll all understand what you’re saying… 😂

They’re a Canadian band that is insanely popular and sells millions of albums, but hating Nickelback has become a cottage industry for absolutely no reason other than that it’s become a thing in pop culture that has absolutely nothing to do with the band or its music. Nickleback are one of the nicest touring bands out there. Whilst on tour each night they would sit down to eat dinner backstage with the different crews that were working for them, like one night it’s the sound guys, another night it’s the light guys, or even the guys driving the trucks that are hauling their gear (my husband was a truck driver). Their appreciation for everyone that was on the road along with them was awesome. Can’t say much about their music, but as people they are really awesome.

What this video/short fails to mention is that this was a HEAVY METAL music festival. Nickelback is not heavy metal and no one there wanted the band to be there in the first place. While I do not agree with the audience on what they did (they could all have just collectively booed the band off the stage, not resort to violence), Nickelback should of also done their research and canceled their performance out of respect for the festival.
