Love the voice leading breakdown, it really simplifies the theory down into something practical and easy to use.

This is my all-time favourite bebop-head. My. project for this year is to learn 1 song each month indepth starting with this tune looking for every snippet I can find about it. Thanks for your insights.

I’ve always wondered if Charlie got the idea for this tune from …Another You. Same chords as first four of Confirmation but double the harmonic rhythm.

As a Jazz Violinist I kept coming across this phrase in the autobiographies of great violinists: "So I Improvised an Obligato" Kreisler, Ole Bull, etc. Had no idea what they were talking about, so I just tried it myself, Improvising a Stepwise Obligato to the Melody of Giant Steps, much like what you are doing here Nick. I think this is really an Important Idea for beginners. You don't really need to know very much Theory, just listen to the Melody and play a line that compliments It! You really absorb a lot of information Subliminally, and learn the most important things in Jazz: How to listen to the other players while actively engaged in Creating something in your own Voice, and how to stay out of the way of what they are Playing. Last night I was thinking about this Idea and how it applied to Jim Croce's song "Operator" And felt like the Guitar was really supplying the missing part of the Conversation, you know, the Operators Voice, her emotions, sympathy even Her Environment, once you know the emotions being conveyed you can almost put words to it and it does become a language. Thanks Brother!

Bravo. Applying your approach to Confirmation should take away anyone’s fear of learning this tune. Personally, I wasn’t scared of learning it, but transcribing it was the challenge. I’m from the record’s time. I never attempted to charge Charlie’s people for the number of 😢records I had to buy to learn the song . Smile. I do believe I owe him money for the ideas I keep hearing as a result of learning Confirmation. Thank you so very much for your share. Straight Ahead.

Hi there, is this a Drake mouthpiece? You sound great on it. It'd be nice to know what exact model it is and your review. Perhaps a comparison with the Espresso?
