oo ABOUT NICK MASON AND THE SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS oo
Nick Mason, Gary Kemp, Guy Pratt, Lee Harris and Dom Beken, aka Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets, came together with the simple idea of playing some early Pink Floyd - the songs pre ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ - that had not been given a live outing for decades! This was the first time Nick had played live since Live 8 in 2005! “Why don’t we get a rehearsal room and play some things and see how we feel about it?” Nick suggested...
A few months later, on Sunday 20 May 2018, Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets took Pink Floyd’s drummer back to the clubs for the first time since 1967 - Dingwalls in Camden, London. The performance was met with huge adulation across the board**.
Three nights at the Half Moon in Putney followed that same week before announcing a theatre tour through the UK, North America and Europe from September, and they promptly sold out! A handful of extra UK shows were announced for April and May 2019, including two nights at The Roundhouse - the venue where Pink Floyd first played on 15 October 1966, at the International Times launch party.

@@98Dreadboy I'm trying my best to see them before its too late! Same goes for other bands of the time. You get so used to them being seen as a part of an "era from the past", from a music scene that's no longer what it used to be, and just feeling like you missed on something great. I've been to other concerts from newer artists, but there's something that just feels so special going to these. It's like you finally get to _see_ and experience what it was like (... for the most part) and it's not some tribute or cover band. It's _them._ It's so cool! i always feel a little honored haha

You can’t beat “Pipers at the gates of dawn” though Some of Floyd’s best work was the stuff Sid wrote and if he has not blown he head out on Acid the band would have been a completely different to what it went on to be.

Piper at the Gates of Dawn was interesting, but far from their best work. It showed the bands potential, and penchant for oddity. However, it's also a bit of a mess, and lacked the polish/cohesion of later works like Meddle.

Nick is playing as well as ever before and this has been a long tour if you watch some you tube videos you will hear people saying musicians of nick's generation should retire because they are around 80 years old but why should they when they are still performing to a high standard everyone wins the audience still get to enjoy some of the best music ever made and the artists enjoy the benefits of working in the most positive way which makes their career and overall positive state of mind and also physical health which is important as you get older because if you retire too soon you age faster and he definitely chose the right musicians to do this tour with

I'll agree that this was the best music-related announcement of the last 20 years. I remember the first time I saw a description of this group and what it intended to do. I stared at the screen for about 30 seconds, and then thought "This is f-ing brilliant!". I knew Guy Pratt from Icehouse and from playing with Pink Floyd, and I was sure that Nick wouldn't bother to do this at all unless he was absolutely confident he had musicians which could do justice to the early material of Floyd. Absolute genius move. I've pre-ordered the DVD/blu-ray, and am really looking forward to it. A big 👍👍👍👍👍 to everyone involved!

Saw these guys in Phoenix back in 2019. I know I’m young but I’ve been listening. To Floyd most of my life from the oldies to the newer stuff. I got the pleasure to see Waters perform The Wall with my dad. This show was so amazing it brought tears to my eyes at times. I NEVER thought I’d ever hear some of the songs performed in this show live and I was thrilled to hear tracks from Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Saucerful of Secrets. Not as amazing as The Wall, but in its own right one of the best shows I’ve been to.

Oh yes, Meddle is one fine album. Dark Side hit the world with such a bang, that it kind of shadowed Meddle, but we wore out a few copies of Meddle in the old days.

I'm really glad they keep teh jam factor alive and well. Not playing it note for note. They're playing it teh way Floyd would have done. Jam the song out! Brilliant!

What you have to remember is tha Nick Mason has the Floyd feel & Soul, I kept telling everybody you couldn't have a complete Rush Tribute without Neil Peart in the Band, same as Quo without John
