Cool. I bought this album in 1988. I also bought Abigail in 1987. When I was 15 and 16 these albums. I was a huge fan in the late 80s and I was screaming KING diamond songs all the time annoying everyone around me.

Just love this - Got the CD the day it was released…I was In see but more or less the only one a College that enjoyed it. King D (or as he was nicknamed In his Home city - screaming Kim) and his melodic heavy metal and lyricism/concept albums are classics now. So rare to see that nowadays…stay heavy💪🙌🤘

Hi Nick! Back in my highschool days I was a big fan of King Diamond In this album both guitar players were real shredders Andy LaRocque and Pete Blakk just killed it on guitars (let me tell you Pete Blakk was the best match to Andy's playing!) Great reaction, man Greetings from Argentina!

THANK YOU for the dedication, I'm excited you listened to this. The rest of the album will really blow you away. I recommended you and Lex listen to Out From the Asylum/Welcome Home (they go together). The first time I heard KD, a friend of mine came to pick me up to go somewhere, another friend was already in the car. He said "You guys need to hear this" and blasted those two songs. Within seconds of Welcome Home starting, I was hooked. Aftet all these years, I still remember all the words! This album has nothing to do with Abigail, though he did release Abigail II; The Revenge in 2002, for me it was great but didnt live up to the original. His first album, Fatal Portrait, is a collection of songs and not a concept album. Them has a wonderful story and is full of amazing songs - every note is perfect from beginning to end. I want to say it's King's best, but I am also partial to The Eye, Voodoo and The Graveyard. The Graveyard may actually be my favorite. In any case, you can't go wrong! Conspiracy is the album after Them, and is a continuation of that story. The first time I saw King was on the Conspiracy tour. I was standing on the left side of the stage when I started, but I was right in front, by the time the show was over I had been pushed all the way to the right side by all the moshers... Haha. It was great to be right in front, I felt like he was singing right to me! We got on his tour bus, but unfortunately he walked out as we were going in and never got to talk to him. Andy Laroque was cool as hell, Snowy Shaw was the drummer at the time. Let me just say that he was so arrogant and annoying that a friend of mine told him he sucked and Mickey Dee should come back! I saw him two or three more times after that, once on the Voodoo tour in which he played in this tiny run down place. I felt bad because the ceiling was so short the guitar players had to sit for a lot of the show, and King couldn't act out the songs as he did in bigger venues. I last saw him in 2019, before he came out he played a slew of Uriah Heep tracks (from a CD - he didnt sing them), which is when I learned David Byron was a huge influence on him. He played The Wizard just before the lights went out. Also to note, when King sings in that middle range, he has similar inflections to Alice Cooper, another influence of his. As you already know, I am flying back early on the night he is here because I just couldn't fathom not being there when you and Lex see him live. I can't tell you how excited I am for this! I would love to do a full album reaction of Them or The Graveyard with you. It would be awesome to talk you through the story between tracks so you can understand it without having to focus too much on the lyrics. Wow, that was a lot, but you KNOW I'm a huge KD fan. Keep 'em coming!

The guitar work on the KD albums is always at a high level, but this album has some of the best in the band's catalogue. "Bye, Bye, Missy" and "Accusation Chair" are both unreal. Metal Works '73 - '93 is the Judas Priest collection you've got in mind.

Very nice! It has been quite a while since I've seen a KD reaction. I've been subbed for a while and have been really enjoying the prog reactions. Btw, nice Jean Luc Ponty album cover in the back. Its in my top 10 favorites of all time.

Jean Luc Ponty & Al Di Meola influenced my musical taste so much that I had to put him there in the background. Thanks to Jean Luc and some other albums I finally learned of Allan Holdsworth. I honestly don't enjoy Allan in his pre solo album days too much since I feel he was always holding back while as a guest or band member. Thanks for watching!!

I love everything by Chick and Return to Forever. Al's first 5 albums are pure fire. I love The Rite of Strings. Must have heard it 100 times. Lenny White and Stanley Clarke are such class acts solo and when sharing their music with each other.

I listened, but honestly I don't like the singing. I know you really like the singing, but to me it's just sounds like the same thing over and over. the guitar playing on the other hand is obviously a guitar master. Now about the singing it reminded me a little bit like a cross between Alice Cooper, and Uriah Heep. But it just didn't have the quality of either. it would be better if he just sounded like one or the other. I would have preferred if the whole album was an instrumental. But to each their own.
@shiftingperception25 күн бұрын
I just commented, this is Lee, one of the ones he mentioned. Interesting you mentioned Alice and Uriah Heep, check out my comment for an explanation. Sorry you don't care for it, I happen to love his voice, but I think understanding the story and the lyrics also make the whole experience so much better.

Honestly the first time hearing King Diamond I hated it. its an acquired taste. I love Uriah Heep but I honestly have never heard Alice Cooper as far as I know. The craziest thing is that he was in his mid twenties when this was recorded and he still sings like that live. Pure talent!
