Thanks Nick! What I love about Flying Colors is the mixture of prog, pop, hard rock, and jazz. Each of their three albums has a distinctive sound and an incredible range of styles. From the catchy pop genre I'd suggest Kayla or Geronimo. For hard rock, try Mask Machine or More. For jazz, Blue Ocean. For prog, Crawl may be their best.

Of the different bands of the Morse/Portnoy cosmos, I like Transatlantic and Neal Morse Band best. I like the music of Flying Colors, I just can't get used to the voice of Casey... so I never felt like, I want to see them live .... other than the other 2, having seen them live 3 times and would go again

I hope you get into more Hendrix soon. You might recognize his influence in the playing of guitarists you already know. To me the guitar playing after you took the pause was mostly Hendrix inspired - all of those sliding double stops, and the chords incorporating hammered notes didn't make me think of anyone else.

New one on me, and good. I too was reminded of Thom Yorke, early on, but then other influences seemed to cycle through at various points. No complaints, not even for Portnoy.
