THE FLYING SCOTSMAN is a great movie about a true story about Graeme Oree who built a bike out of a washing machine and set the hour record twice. They say trying a hour record takes years off your life he set a record of about 58kms just going 100% for 60 minutes. He also became world champion twice then the UCI banned his bike and his riding style THE SUPERMAN. Billy Boyd Pippen in LOTR and Johnny Lee Miller star I think it was before he married Angelina Jolee I think they met on HACKERS another good movie 👍

I say it's the best one. If this same script was James Bond, Mission Impossible or some new franchise just created, it would still work and be a great movie. What sets it apart too is that it could be stand alone and it would still make sense, unlike others that rely on all the build up.

You remarked on how quickly he came up with a plan. Something a lot of people don’t get is that the serum didn’t just amplify him physically. It amplified him mentally as well. It’s the reason he can handle the shield so easily-he can calculate the right angles to throw in a fraction of a millisecond in his mind. He was considered a genius-level military strategist, which is why Fury called him the greatest soldier who ever lived.

I don't care what anyone says this is one of the greatest movies of all time. The Winter Soldier is too badass for words...but also - poor Bucky, what they did to him is so tragic. I love him. All of the twists are amazing , the action scenes are great, the fight scenes are better than every other MCU movie. The fight scene between Cap and Winter Soldier - I think I watched that a couple hundered times. The screenplay is fantastic - unlike the other MCU movies it feels incredibly grounded. The characters are so well written. And it also hits on an emotional level. "Then finish it. Cause I'm with you till the end of the line". Such a great moment, always makes me tear up. Sebastian Stan hardly speaks in the movie, but he doesn't even have to. His facial expression in that moment, especially his eyes are tell you everything. Such great acting. 😢❤ Bucky/ Winter Soldier is easily my favorite part of this amazing movie.

There was a planned scene involving Hawkeye that they never filmed. After the elevator fight, and Cap is on the run, SHIELD was going to dispatch Barton to hunt him down. He catches up to Cap in a sunken roadway or drainage pass or something or another, and they start fighting towards one another, him firing arrows. They finally get up close and Cap takes him down, when Barton whispers that there is a tracker in his suit. He's actually helping him out, and tells Rogers to knock him out, which he does before escaping. That is why we never see Steve in that dark blue Captain Rogers suit for the rest of the movie. The scene was scrapped though.

21:54 That recruitment campaign was Operation Paperclip (which they also mention in the movie); the US recruited a bunch of German scientists for themselves after the war. The computer asks if he wants to play a game. he picks "Global Thermonuclear War" and the computer runs simulations, while feeding the simulation to NORAD who think they're being attacked by Russians. It's a pretty good movie tbh.

Hey, guys. After Captain America : The First Avenger, Chris Evan's asked to upgrade the combat skills of his character. He felt the upgrade was necessary because the fighting techniques have evolved since Cap went into the ice way back in the 2oth century. He also noted that video games played a part in the decision. Those martial arts techniques are now applied to RPG avatars and would bring Cap more online with the audience. One more thing, you'll notice on Fury's tombstone part of the quote from his character in PULP FICTION is referenced. Nice reaction. Keep going and enjoy the movies.
@crowfoot11993 ай бұрын
tbh I always took Steve's improved fight skills in this movie having more to do with the Russo brothers understanding the character more and what he's capable of, than Whedon did, but it's interesting to know that Evans asked for an upgrade as well. I never felt like Joss Whedon understood Cap. This movie, to me, is more the real Cap as compared to the Avengers. You can see some of the relentless unstopability of Cap in The First Avenger, more so than in the Avengers, imo.

Just either managing to completely misunderstand everything, or blatantly ignore, or disregard everything done to him by Hydra and still vilify him for things he never chose to do.

Back in the first Captain America movie, Red Skull had been 'improved' by some form of experimentation similar to what Steve went through... though it affected Red Skull differently, giving him an altered appearance... they obviously didn't have the German scientist that helped Stark create the superior US version. So, we know Hydra had previously been experimenting with that same line of research, so it's probably safe to assume, by the time they captured Bucky, they had somewhat refined their serum. The cybertech arm was just a replacement for his missing real one. The Super Soldier Serum is a big part of Marvel Lore in the comics. The US's attempt to re-engineer it, was referenced in the Hulk movie as a partial cause behind the research that transformed Dr Banner.

The man with the beard at 31:40 is Ed Brubaker. The writer who created The Winter Soldier storyline that is the basis of this film. Kind of like what's going on with the writers of a character that's appearing in Venom 3, Brubaker got more money from his cameo than what this film made. But otherwise he's one of the best writers in comics. For future reading I'd suggest Fade Out, Criminal, Fatale, and his run on Captain America.

51:23 Project: Paperclip was a real thing in the years following World War II, when Allied countries attempted to capture and bring to their own countries the top scientists who worked for Nazi Germany. One of the reasons the US Space Program was able to make the strides it did in the 1950's and 60's was due to scientists - perhaps the most famous being Werner Von Braun - incorporated into NASA that had worked on the German V-1 and V-2 rocket programs. The thought that the US Government (and S.H.I.E.L.D.) would do likewise with Hydra scientists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe makes perfect sense. And yes, Bucky was injected with a variant of the same type of Super Soldier serum that created Captain America. The first stage was done when Bucky and the 107th was captured by Hydra. Zola completed the work under the umbrella of S.H.I.E.L.D. after the war ended, working with the Soviets (the reason Bucky has a red star on his metal arm).

Before this movie came out, people were not thinking Captain A was going to be portray well and thinks was useless in the avengers. But the directors the Russo Brothers proved them wrong which not only made Captain America badass and important in the MCU, it gave them leads to direct Civil war and Avengers infinity and Endgame. Also fun fact: the Russo Brothers were not a fan of Captain A because he had litttle.powers so they did what it took to prove how he can be an awesome and relevant superhero . They knew how to create something boring to become very entertaining

This movie has roots in a particular genre from the mid 70's. Around that time there were a number of government conspiracy type movies. It was a few years after the Watergate scandal and the idea of losing trust in the government was in the air. Robert Redford, who played Director Pierce, was one of the biggest stars in the 70's and actually starred in a few of those movies "3 Days of the Condor" (about a low level CIA agent who returns to his office one day to find everyone has been assassinated and he is suddenly on the run with no one to trust) and "All the President's Men" (about the uncovering of the Watergate coverup). There is one shot in "Winter Soldier" showing the Shield headquarters along the banks of the Potomac river and you can see the actual Watergate hotel in the background.

Ok, Caps strength; (MCU only) When he first got his powers in world war I, he fought against basic humans. Some wearing light armor or bulky armor. He was unable to fully test the limits of his own abilities. Facing off against Red skull who had much more time with the super soldier serum. Gave Steve a bit of a glimpse into his potential. Fast forward to Avengers, now he's been woken up into the new age. What's the first thing he started doing practicing his punches. Punch after punch blow after blow he started exploding punching bags. This is all still practice him growing into his own skills. Where did that movie go to extra- terrestrial invasion against an army of heavily armored extremely adept soldiers even though they were mostly just cannon fodder. The scene where he is on top of the cop car fighting three of them and ripped one of their arms off and then kicked another through the building beside him, he started to grow into that strength. Now let's jump into winter soldier, just in the opening scenes that fight on the ship at sea, he kicked a guy so hard. He went flying off the ship, he elbowed a guy so hard. He lifted off the ground and off the ship. He is no longer pulling his punches because they are basic humans. He is now unable to pull his punches to anything lower. We progress further into the movie and as he's fighting the winter soldier their speed, strength and ability are almost even but Steve is able to persevere. The further you get into the analytics of his strength. They are all increasing movie to movie to movie but it's increasing at a very fluid rate. Whenever you see Steve in a movie from here on out, look for a moment where his own physical prowess seems to go beyond what anything else he has done before. There are a few moments that are raiding your face, but there's a couple that are extremely subtle. One much later that is in your face but the sheer scope is lost due to the moment. No spoilers and I'm absolutely enjoying the ride. -Alpharious-

21:09 WAR GAMES with a very young Matthew Broderick. For a 40yr old movie, it was pretty foretelling.🤔 AI even before CGI.

Robert Redford and Scarlett Johansson have been in another movie together. It's called The horse whisperer. Rewatched it so many times as a kid.

Remember the song playing in Steve Roger's apartment when he returns to find Nic Fury there. It will tie in much later in the MCU. *Not a spoiler* per say.

Operation paperclip was a thing, lots of German (some to a lot Nazis scientists) came to America. The American space program started with von Braun ( I won't declare him a Nazi or clear him of being a Nazi) but he developed technology to where we are today.

The way someone explained what was done to Bucky basically that they took away everything that made Bucky himself. They stripped his choices and free will. they also used electroconvulsive therapy which makes the mind associate memories with extreme pain I think. So every time he saw Steve or remembered anything from his life he would be in pain. It’s really so sad and inhuman what they did to him
