I have the same Salter it works good, but like you say, if you put too much in it, it may clump. I usually only put one to two bags in and put it on a very fast spin and you don’t need a lot of range because you’re only doing residential driveways. Just keep it on very low so it doesn’t go out far two and 23 and three would be good. Great videos keep up the good work. Just saw your channel today.

We have been able to fill it up all the way, but on most driveways, Kurt will have to get out to help get it spinning. We run it on speed 3-4 and find that gives a good balance between throw distance and power of the motor. Thanks for checking us out, I appreciate it!

Having an adjustable up and down seat it the only thing that helps with the hood issue. Have a great season

I have adjusted it to my liking. I prefer a more upright seating position while driving and still it is super hard to see out of that truck. You really rely on the plow markers!

Hey man! I’d love to do a video comparison about the 2. These are great budget friendly options if you dont want a full bed salter.

A few storms already this season! Its nice when we get to plow, and then a couple of days later, all the snow has melted and we can do regular jobs again!

Lots of negative reviews online for the salter but you said it seems to work for what you need it for

Overall, the Salter works pretty good for us. You definitely need to add a vibrator to get it to work properly, otherwise the salt doesn’t flow and it jams up regularly. Aside from the lack of startup torque on the motor and having to get out to start it sometimes it works pretty good.

I always wondered why push shovels are popular in US but proper sleight shovels are rare. Those are such a lifesaver when it comes to clearing snow.

I just looked that up since ive never heard of a “sleigh shovel”. I have seen those, but always thought that they were gimmicky and not actually very useful. What are the benefits of one over a push shovel?
@JanneRanta14 күн бұрын
@@NKLandscapingLLC They are super ergonomic. You are basically pulling the snow around instead of carrying or throwing. Around here in finland they are super popular.

Interesting. If I ever see one in a store locally I may have to try one out!

Hey Nick…. Still thinking about your kx balast, but question on plowing… how do you price for situations where the customer wants you to plow by a certain time before snow stops, and then you have to comeback a second time to finish? Do you quote per trip or per event even if it takes you more than one plowing?
@NKLandscapingLLC15 күн бұрын
We actually just sold the counterweight this past weekend! For plowing, 1” or more is considered a “plowable event”. Some clients choose to increase that number, but that is our start point. We bill “per plow”, so in large storms, we may need to come 2x to get all of the snow moved. We always check with clients to see if they want the 2nd pass so that we don’t double bill for no reason. In general, we try to wait until most of the storm has passed so that we are not plowing while snow is still accumulating. It is tricky to try and gauge all of that and have happy clients. I wish there was a better way, but residential plowing is tricky.
