I live in Northern Maine and I think you did a good job, I plow snow with a 4X4 tractor and pusher with weight and chains and plowing a driveway that narrow isn't easy. The comment about driving fast up the driveway would have put him in the ditch and then what. He took his time and got it done and the reason he was able to finish it is because of the sander weight and rear chains.

Great job I see he took the top off & not trying to take too big of a bite. Smart plow driver!!

That is a job where a big 8-1/2' Zaugg, Schmidt, or Pronovost snowblower on a New Holland TV-140 bidirectional tractor with center articulation would have been perfect. One pass up and back and widen the end and take care of up by the house and done. Snowblowing allow the operator to put the snow in the woods or another specified location and the driveway never gets narrower as the winter progresses like what happens with plowing. There is no tedious back dragging from driveways that dead end into the garage or driveways that end with an under-house garage with retaining walls all around.

Comment to feed the beast. I don't mind some good metal music but hearing an engine load up, the rattle of tire chains and the hiss and crunch of the rolling snow can't be beat for a soundtrack, tougher to capture with a dash cam, need an outside A pillar cam. Depending on the snow, it looks a little heavy/wet my least favorite, maybe yep clean the entrance, take a breath, lift the plow 3 inches and drive, keep that weight on the front, a few long passes. 1/23 we only got 3-4 inches down south here, wasn't that ugly. That's the fun of plowing, there's no one way to do it right. I have a couple gravel drives and I don't run skid shoes, also only have straight blades, I might go grab the small dozer to open that driveway :) Looks like it has a bit of a side slope, my usual would be to push all towards the downhill side so in case it starts to go wrong, let the snow push me back into the trail. Love to try a v plow sometime.

This would be so much better without the music and maybe some commentary.

Yeah, I get it. I figured some people might like the music better than my kids bitching in the truck ha ha ha. I'll figure something out all the video stuff as a pain in the ass when you are trying to get work done and there's a kind of a lot of stuff that happens behind the scenes and it's just hard to get all that in.

@@MatthewHenick-uq6cg the only thing I remember is that it was in Raymond Maine if I remember correctly. That was two years ago, so that's all I remember. It was a one time thing because he let it get so bad before having it plowed.

How would go about charging for this? Looks like a nightmare steep, narrow, multiple storms plus looked like it was compacted. What did you charge?
@LoneWolfSnowplowing15 күн бұрын
I just try my best to estimate how long it will take me and already knowing what my hourly rate needs to be. I charged $800.

Yeah, I definitely need a camera on the outside. All the camera stuff is a pain in the ass when you are trying to work. But more so I am lazy. Ha ha hope you make some money this winter.

I've only used a tractor with either the bucket or a straight plow blade. With the V blade, could you get some speed up and just hammer through if it wasn't a hill? Then, widen it after?
