What a beautiful car. The music being made by that big 440ci and those 6 barrels at full song are what Dreams are made of. Thanks Nick for taking us for a ride along. I cranked up my hifi to experience the music the car made. I wish I was in passenger's seat to not only hear but feel that beautiful beast roaring down the road. Fantastic.

I was a line mechanic at a Mopar dealership in the late 60's when service manager brought me a Charger on Saturday afternoon as I was cleaning my tools to go home. ( Customer was a friend of Dealership owner so they wanted me to do it right then) of course the rear one but luckily on the passenger side. I got a hole saw prepped and did some trdious plotting on the floorpan. Lucked out and ended up exactly in line to the freeze plug. Managed to get it out and replaced in less than an hour ( in 100 degree South Texas weather.) Intentionally drilled the hole the size of an OEM rubber hole plug. Popped it in and topped off the coolant.put carpet etc back on and declared it good to go. Boss and customer had planned to eat a steak have drinks n wait for a few hours. Boss was blown away so I was invited for a steak and got a nice bonus. Plus huge brownie points for me Haha Dandahermit

13.50s is how my wife’s six pack e body ran stock, with drag radials. 15 years later, and a mostly full restoration. Headers and quite a bit of port work, msd, Hughes whiplash, almost to much cam in a six pack piston car. 11s all day long. Street tires just get blowed off. Wife’s car I built. May drive it to moparty next month, and run it at Beech bend, and maybe show it. Love Challengers and Cudas prettiest cars ever made imo. Nice job Nick

Nick! I heard some pre-ignition going on a little on your 1st pull and more on your second. You might want to look into an incorrect heat range on the plugs and/or maybe back the distributor up a short few degrees. Listen to your sound clip again and use a good pair of head phones in a quiet listening environment. If you have 91 octane in her now its either stale or needs a higher grade of octane. But sometimes a sharp edge along a valve relief cut can hold heat as well.

yeah, it made my ears bleed and my foot want to lift at 17:50 in car cam and like a bowling alley of pins being knocked down from the outside cam. it's either leaning out or timing needs backed off, plugs alone are sure not going to change anything there, possibly some old fuel with ethanol separation/stacking.

@budlanctot3060
@budlanctot3060 Жыл бұрын
So are you telling me those core holes are exactly taper pipe thread tap drill size? Are you also telling me you have a pipe tap big enough to fit those big holes? And you're telling me you have the hand strength to hand-tap with those big taps? And you're telling me that there is enough clearance in the water jacket to be able to run the tap in far enough to get the proper depth of thread and not bottom out on the water jacket inner wall? I'm not calling BS, but that sounds like BS to me.

back in the day my friend had 63 Buick LeSabre convertible with a 401, and somehow got his hands on a dual quad manifold and carb setup. I kept bugging him relentlessly to install it even though he was very hesitant to do so. he wasn't confident the carbs were in good working order. but my harassment paid off and he installed everything. the linkage was sketchy and was sometimes sticking on full throttle but good enough. with the hood off he drove it down the block and around the corner, past a friend's house, just cruising. after he was out of view he didn't come back right away so I started jogging down the street to find him. it turned out there was a gas leak - I think the bowls were stuck full open - and after a u-turn there was a backfire, and the carbs went fully on fire. our mutual friend just happened to see the fire and ran out barefoot with a fire extinguisher and put it out. at the same time another neighbor saw the blaze and called the fire department. we heard the fire alarm and joked it was for us. as the car was being pushed back a fire truck arrived and gave my friend the business. lesson learned, don't listen to your stupid friends no matter how much they goad you into doing something you don't want to do :D

Nick, I've been watching your videos on TV for about 4 years. Just now subscribed. Don't know why it took so long. Got some vanishing point trivia for you if you're interested. I first saw the movie at the drive in right after it was released. I've probably watched it 50 times since. A friend told me something interesting about the end (bulldozer scene). I first confirmed it in the VCR days and have since confirmed it in the digital age. The car in the scene on fire is a 69 Camaro. Look close when you pause it. You'll notice it. Maybe you knew that already but I'm sure a lot of folks didn't. Just some trivia. Thanks for all your awesome videos.

Interesting view to watch the carbs in action opening up. Those springs in the end carbs only control the rate of opening, time from start of opening to fully open. There's an orifice called a 'kill bleed' which controls WHEN the carbs open. You can tinker with that to modify the start of the secondaries opening. I would leave it alone though. Lots of messed up swap meet carbs from 'tuners' trying to get it right. There's ALWAYS going to be a lag with this set up. Most people can't live with that. I'm thinking that car was either a 383 or 340 car since it had the A/C holes in the firewall, and you couldn't get A/C on a 6bbl or even a 440 4bbl on a 'Cuda. Not a bad tribute or replica whatever you call 'em. They should do something about that steering wheel though. Nice work on the 'Cuda!
