Today, we'll take apart an interesting knife, and do some beautiful things for the action, in the CRKT CEO Pocketknife.

Thank you! I bought one for my partner, who works in a very dirty environment. It is not their main work knife, but it does get carried in. I noticed today that it needs a good cleaning. This video will help a lot. Also I like your asides, and manner. Thank you

A rubber o-ring around bearings seems like it would be a good idea. Shouldn't affect the action and would prevent dust and dirt from getting into the bearing.

Mine arrived in the mail today. Wow! Super snappy action right out of the box and pretty damn sharp. Between the CEO and the Pilar III, I am becoming a fan of CRKT. Can’t wait to wear this if I ever get back to my office. I hope I never have to take it apart and that’s a beautiful thing. ;)

This is one of my favorite knives. I have problems with my hands & need a knife for many things most people don't. The CEO has a blade large enough to be useful & because of its "deicate" appearance it looks more benign look than many other tactical folders. Plus it opens & closes easily with one hand.
@OCD4EDC5 жыл бұрын
The Teflon outer ring is for sure there as a dirt prevention device. I'm kind of XOC'ED CRKT doesn't refer/market that ring as the DPD. It will be great if they do moving forward.

tip: save old fone books, rip off the cover and expose a clean page as a work surface for all of your clean parts.

I like the design, but am not a fan of CRKT knives. Had a liner lock fail on me and I won't let them off for that. Great review in any case. Thumbs up.

Just picked one of these guys up and I love it! Now that you have put in the hard work, I know what to lookout for when I'm disassembling it to sharpen. Love that Seamaster btw!

The washers underneath the bearings could provide better surface gliding and act as a protection, so that the balls can‘t eat into the handle. You could easily replace them after many thousand flips :)

It's a cute little letter opener / nose picker. If you tried to cut anything besides paper it will snap like a potato chip.

Mine didnt come with the washers or Teflon. I did get mine when they first came out though. Perhaps they updated it people people were complaining about the rough action(the main problem was the stiff detent I think).

Hi Nick. When you talk about the cupping, are you saying that the concave side should be adjacent to the bearings? In other words, don’t try to “correct” the cupping, but rather keep it as it was?

Can I take the pocket clip off or do the screws hold the scales on?
@markv92514 жыл бұрын
Yes BD, you can take the clip off and re-install the screws, but it's not necessary for holding the scales on, simply for appearance sake. Be sure to not overtighten the screws without the clip, otherwise they go in too far and rub against the blade!

I've been carrying mine every day for the better part of a year. Personally I love it, then again I look at it as more of a glorified letter opener than a knife. Definitely not a hard use kind of knife, but for opening boxes, letters, general use it's great. Not so much if you're the kind of person who uses their knife as a tool. Definitely a lot of better options out there, but it makes for a pretty decent and discrete carry piece.
@johnc6463 жыл бұрын
I like it a lot. Very elegant. However, there’s a reason it’s called CEO. How often have you seen a CEO use a knife?

nice knife with crap steel, and expensive. check out the RUIKE P865-B, which is my favorite knife of the year so far and a frequent carry at half the price.
@pitiedvod5 жыл бұрын
This. Not sure how CRKT can get some many great designs and then cut so many corners on the manufacturing, they ruin the lot of them.
@edrader5 жыл бұрын
a Chinese company made this knife it would have D2 steel and cost $25-$35
@druid7994 жыл бұрын
The ruike May be the better knife BUT me personally I don’t like the look of it , which means it’s going to stay in its box in the draw unused . No matter how good at its job something is if i don’t like the look or feel of it I know I’m probably not going to be carrying it on me . As my dad always said , “the best tool for the job is the one you’ve got with you” .
