Home Free is the real deal. They won the NBC show the Sing Off in 2013 the year after Pentatonix won. They are incredibly talented. Adam Rupp is the beatboxer and can do drums, harmonica, almost any sound you can think of. In their newest song Sea Shanty Medley he did castanets in the last song. How does he do that? If you want to check out more of him try Adam Rupp drum solo on KZbin. Tim Foust is the bass and he has a 5 octave range so he can sing super low but also sing tenor. Austin is the lead here and is the high tenor. Rob with glasses is the tenor and the newest member is Chance as baritone/bass. He came to the group in 2016. They are mostly country but can sing any genre and sing it well. They sing a lot of covers but also write and sing their own songs. To hear more great harmonies try Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Country Roads, I Can’t Outrun You, What We Ain’t Got. There are so many songs. Good reaction and I subscribed. They also are a fun bunch and have a lot of fun goofy songs too.
@hilarymol66073 жыл бұрын
Adam Rupp is easily one of the best beatboxers out there today. Not only can he match - and best - any drum kit, he also "plays" a few instruments, too - like the harmonica. And Chance (Adam Chance) is the one making the didgeridoo come to life. Tim Foust, their bass, is an alien. The man has a five octave (!!) range, and when he hits his true down-in-the-basement notes there are scientists scrambling for their equipment to find out where the major earthquake was.

So Nick, a little background. Since you know Avi from Pentatonix, he joined Home Free in a video cover of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire about 6 years ago and has over 37M KZbin views. HF won the Sing Off the year following Pentatonix, so both are the most popular A Capella bands in the genra today. Avi also appeared in a cameo of another HF original, Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget during the same time. Home Free's base singer is Tim Foust, and he is from east Texas. He also wrote the original that Avi appeared in as well. Home Free has over 350M views and well over a 100 videos. Although they are best known as the only Country A Capella, they actually do a lot of pop, and some R&B, gospel, and even most recently a Sea Shanty Medley which is terrific and has over 350,000 views just in the last 5 days. So, since you know how good Pentatonix, I think you will be even more impressed with Home Free's performance. There is not one video they have done that disappoints. Their beat boxer is Adam Rupp, and twice world champion beatboxer, cofounded the band with his brother Chris 20 years ago when they were in college. Chris left the band in 2017 to go solo. HF fans are known as Home Fries, so welcome to the world of Home Free. It will be a most rewarding journey following this unbelievably talented vocal band. Imo, they are the best of the best.

That instrument they’re imitating is a jaw harp, also known as a Jews harp, it is a rather obscure instrument. Tim Foust is the bass, he has a five octave range, he is an absolute BEAST. The beatboxer/ nonexistent harmonica player is Adam Rupp, and he will blow your mind if you pay close attention to him! Also do not react to Mayday until you have reacted to at least 5 other songs, trust us on this! I recommend Ring Of Fire ft. Avi Kaplan, and Foulsom Prison Blues
@Grynslvr23 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but the Jews harp is not really very obscure, except maybe to young people. It and the harmonica were both about as popular 100 years ago as the iPhone and iPad are today. 55 years ago, both the harp and harmonica could be bought at "Five and Dimes" all across America. The 5 and 10 cent stores were that time period's "dollar store." Cheap entertainment for millions of kids who tended to learn to play "over the hill, and very far away" as their first song. GRIN

Tim, the base has an amazing range. Stay away from mayday until you have heard a few more. Chance, Adam was also a bass for another group and was brought in as a low baritone. Tim grew up in SE Texas but lives near Nashville. Chance is a Southern boy as well but lives near you two now. Austin, the first tenor in this one, is from Georgia but also lives near Nashville now. Rob is the teddy bear tenor and Adam Rupp is the beat boxer. Both of them are from and live in Minnesota. Adam and his brother, Chris started the group. They added Rob and Tim and then discovers Austin singing on a cruise ship. When Chris decided to go solo, they added Chance. They are all versatile and have learned from each other. Tim is the master of the low growl but can do subharmonic notes as well (both ways to go low ... Geoff the bass from voice play has some funny tutorials online and credits Tim with helping him). There is a video of Tim blowing the speaker system at an outdoor concert. Adam has won beatboxing competitions. I believe the story is that he swallowed a drum kit when he was five (at least the one I’m trying to spread) Before Chris left and thus before Chance, they participated in season 4 of The Sing Off and won (the season after Pentatonix won) Enough for now, though I did write some on Carlies reaction but basically the same info.

Home Free is a phenomenal a cappella group. They and Pentatonix both won their respective seasons of NBC's a cappella competition "The Sing Off", and they are good friends. In fact Avi collaborated with Home Free on their cover of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire". Home Free comes from country roots but their creations cover many genres. For something grounded in country check out their covers of Maren Morris' "My Church" or Blake Shelton's "Hillbilly Bone". Something up tempo "Can't Stop The Feeling". Something deep their cover of John Mayer's "In the Blood". Another folk tune, their cover of John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads". And for a laugh their "Butts Remix".

Hi, Nick! I discovered your page due to Home Free! These guys have covered so many genres, even though they call themselves a Country A Capella. Their beatboxer, Adam Rupp (one of the original founders) has built up his beatboxing “toolbox”/“drum kit” over the last 20 years. The group started with his brother, Chris (his concept/dream) back in college (2000). They’ve had numerous lineup changes over the years, but the lineup that was on Season 4 of the Sing Off (the season after Pentatonix), is the one that really stuck for several years until Chris left the group in May of 2016. That’s when Adam “Chance” Ray joined the group. His rich and airy voice, I believe, is what helped them gain more popularity, part in fact, because he is a bass/baritone. He can cover bass when Tim sings lead. They have covered Ed Sheran twice, Andy Grammar, Boyz 2 Men (you should check that one out next), Jason Mraz, and so forth! I hope you decide to jump down the rabbit hole of Home Free! You won’t be disappointed!!

Being into theatre i think you would enjoy the a capella groupe Voiceplay. Their rendition of Ougie Boogie song is fantastic. And they have a world class bass singer Geoff Castellucci who also have a some solo covers. My favorite a capella groupe is Home Free and here is why. Their bass singer Tim Foust has around a 5 octave range and together with Chance (Adam Chance) Bass/baritone they can seamlessly switch bass duties freeing the other guy to sing lead. This gives them a lot of freedom in their arrangements so that it is not always the tenors singing the lead. That being said their tenors Rob Lundquist and Austin Brown are also world class singers. Then their is cofounder Adam Rupp Beatboxer extraordinaire, but also sings harmonies when beatboxing isn't needed. Some of my favorite Home Free songs that shows their abilities are: Everybody Walking This Land, Snowglobe, Sea Shanty Medley.

Great reaction! New Subscriber! Come to see Homefree and loved your reaction! Love watching people discover what us Home Fries (Homefree fans) already know.... they are the best! Line up first guy who sang Austin Brown classicly trained tenor, another song to hear how powerful his voice is check out their cover of Percy Sledges "When a Man Lives A Woman" second guy who sang with beard and glasses Rob Lindquist very talented tenor a song that show cased his talent their cover of Boyz2mens End of the Road, the guy making the dijaredoo sound is Adam Chance he was standing in back next to beatboxer he is a baritone/bass singer who takes over them low notes and bass line when Tim is singing lead, he replaced Chris Rupp who was one of the co founders of the group but left to pursue a solo career, a song that showcases his voice is their cover of Cover Me Up, the "Freak of Nature" beatboxer is Adam Rupp who is the other co-founder of the group and has won beatboxing competition s, he has a drum solo video out if you would like to check that out. And lastly that incredible bass/baritone/tenor is Tim Foust "The Beast" he has a 5 octave range. He is incredible! To show his range check out "Misty Mountains" by Peter Hollens featuring Tim Foust for some of the lowest notes ever. And for his higher range, which should be watched after the lower register one, is Snow Globe (which he cowrote) or their cover of Cams "Mayday". Welcome to your Homefree journey and invasion of the Homefries! Stay safe and healthy and have a blessed day!!

If you like low bass. Try Voiceplay "Oogie Boogie Song", the bass of that accapala group takes the lead.
@belinda96963 жыл бұрын
The bass is Tim Foust and he and Avi Kaplan are friends, actually, there used to be a show called "The Sing-Off" that was a show of performances by acapella groups before judges. It ran for 5 seasons and PTX won the 3rd season and Home Free won in the 4th season of the show. This show is where they met each other and this show helped boost both groups in popularity.

Just an FYI on the Beatboxer of Home Free, Adam "The Freak of Nature" Rupp ... he was twice voted best All-Around Beatboxer by his peers at the World A Capella Expo.

My son was a theatre kid and in choir, he was in an acapella group and in a quartet. People don't realize how hard it is to do that. To find other people that harmonize with the rest, etc. it takes alot of talent and alot of work. I loved this. Something new and different than the usual. Shout out to all the theatre/choir kids out there. They are more talented than you think. My son is 23 now and misses it like crazy..the plays, the concerts, the chicks..lol and I miss watching him on that stage. Good reaction as always Nick!

You should also check out their version of "End of the Road", "How Great Thou Art", "Ring of Fire( featuring Avi Kaplan) and also two by Peter Hollens and Tim Faust called "Misty Mountain Cold" and "Greensleeves" . You might also want to check the version of "God Bless The USA" That they did with Lee Greenwood and members of our military. Adam Chance made the mouth harp sound, Adam Rupp is the beat boxer, Austin Brown was lead vocal on this one, Rob Lundquist is the bearded guy. Tim Faust is the bass. He has a 5 octave vocal range.

Thanks a lot for the reaction to this phenomenal group. I was actually introduced to Home Free through Avi Kaplan when he teamed up with the group for Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire. If you want to hear something special, that is definitely the song to hear Home Free sing. Two of the best bass singer collaborating to bring an unforgettable experience with the Man in Black.
@marysartor42783 жыл бұрын
They won The Sing Off the year after Pentatonix, watch the series to see how they came to be so popular. There is another reactor who has watched all of their videos from the beginning. They have been putting out new videos throughout the pandemic to entertain us. They recently did American Pie with Don McLean for the 50th anniversary. Tim Foust is the BASS and has a 5 octave range. In their video of Do You Hear What I Hear, he drops from tenor to deep BASS towards the middle of the song. Their early days they had a different baritone, one of the founders of the group, Chris Rupp. He and Tim recently dropped a song/video, Long Black Train. Tim has also sang with Peter Hollens (as has all of HOME FREE) and the Hound and The Fox. He is a very well respected bass in a Capella circles. Austin who had the main lead in this one has a high tenor voice and he hits some doozies (When a man Loves a Woman). Rob, the bearded one, has a bluesy clean tenor voice that you can hear in his solos, especially the boys to men cover of End Of The Road. Adam Rupp is the Beat Boxer, another founding member with his brother Chris, he has some solos out there from live shows and can do anything plus sing tenor for 6 part harmonies. Adam Chance is their baritone/bass, you can hear in a more recent video of Sea Shanty Medley how rich his voice is. Have fun!

Currently there are the Big 3 quintets of Acapella - Pentatonix, Home Free & VoicePlay. They all have great Basses & great Beatboxers. Pentatonix won Season 3 of the NBC-TV show Sing-off. Home Free won Season 4 where VoicePlay also competed but IMHO if they'd had Rachel Potter who they frequently sing with now, they'd have gone much further. But currently, THE Greatest Acapella Group on the Planet is the 11-member group, using no instruments or beat boxing is - Voctave!
