I met Nicky when he and Colin came to California to do the XGames. I got Nicky's autograph and I told him I wanted Colin's, so he went back in the caravan and got it for me. I still have the tee shirt. He's one of the nicest guys you could hope to meet. After all, he is a Taffy the same as me!

What a brilliant interview & great homeage/respect paid. I really really miss the good ol days. Miss my one & only ST185 homologated version that I bought in the UK & took it back home to Kenya. Love that era, cars & the artists such as the great Grist, Moya, McRae, Sainz, Kankunnen, Auriol, Burnsie et al… ❤️

Yeah he is a Welshman who was chatting to Nicky grist and he won the championship with juha Kankkunen in 1993 his first title win and Juhas 4th title before he went over to join Colin McRae where he stayed until 2002 where he and Nicky split up and Colin was reunited with Derek ringer which they won the 1995 championship And it wasn’t until Nicky and Colin got back together again when they returned to the drivers seat in 2005 for Skoda which they nearly had a podium in Australia and they appeared again for Citroen as a substitute for the injured Sebastian loeb who was injured in the bike accident and that unfortunately was the last time they appeared together before Colin himself died in the helicopter accident

So would it be fair to say that due to safari rally being seriously shortened and various other rallies having shorter stages that some titles were given and warranted as goals/targets were achieved but realistically the same stage mileage in the past they wouldn’t in fact be worthy of said titles.

Can’t get exited about Toyota after the cheating as ford got robbed by TTE of a WRC title
@pschard6642 жыл бұрын
You can call it cheating... or searching the boundries and gaps in the regulations... either way it was a brilliant piece of engineering.
@ALIENdrifter662 жыл бұрын
Everybody was cheating in those years (or playing with the limits), some were really hard to find, like the Toyota one, and some were never found. But Toyota didn't rob any title as they were banned and lost the points of that year, if Ford didn't win another title it was because they weren't good enough to win it
@chiefrocka86042 жыл бұрын
