@@PrettyOkayJiuJitsu I dont record my own rolls but I have been dealing with an issue similar to the one at 12:52 where people camp that sort of position with the shin pin and dont let me recover my near leg. Any thoughts on how to deal with that?

@@shibazz3785 sounds crazy proactive but I think if they get shinpin on you, you need to mentally treat it as a loss for that battle. Not that it’s game over but you did lose a micro skirmish. Depending on how far hip pinned over you are, I would definitely reinforce the free leg behind the knee like Lachlan does so you can’t get far hip pinned. I’d try my best to be on my right hip in this example and have a straight arm locked out with my right arm, framing right below the passer’s left knee. This makes them push you like a sled instead of having to fight someone who’s approaching NS. Try to install 3 frames with your free leg and both arms and it would alleviate the pressure of the shin pin. If you have 3 frames, you can almost use the pressure of them pushing into you to “unwind” back to an open guard. You should also prob be aware some people like AOJ teach the shin pin but they circle the other way wild driving hard pressure to stable your ankle to your butt. The intent is to make your shin pinned knee separate from your armpit. Don’t fall for that. Keep that space closed off.
