I'm so glad you received your planning permission. You totally deserve it. I have to say Nicky you are clearly an inspiration to all woman (older and younger) especially to little Charlotte in that you can achieve anything you put your mind to regardless of your physical strength. If you've got the motivation and sheer determination as you do, you'll achieve your dreams! OMG I flinched when you were throwing the bricks near that window. I have terrible aim (and luck!) and it would have gone straight through. Good work! I'm so excited to see the extension. I really like seeing how you guys get things done and it's got me motivated to put on my big girl pants and try some DIY in our new home. Glad you got your planning permission sorted out finally, it's awful waiting for big things like that... we just exchanged contracts this week (the most stressful time of my life!) so full steam ahead here as well. Steps look great guys! What I think will set them off is if you can drill some holes in the sleepers so you can add outdoor rated spotlights for each step which would come in handy on those dark evenings and will really make your sweeping stairs pop!! Cheers, Zak

That’s a great idea my neighbors just included some in the brick of the driveway so they knew how to park and didn’t slip in the dark , dusk til dawn lights think they are called 100% recommend lighting wherever possible

We have had many of the same issues as you with waiting for probate etc and are a month behind you in our purchase and now renovation. We too are starting with the outside as we wait for planning. Granted WE aren’t doing a lot of the work but we are 40 years older than you guys! Keep up the great work. Nicky your editing and music choices make even digging look interesting and your unwavering cheerfulness is an inspiration.

Nice philosophical bit from Harri in Wales….. when things are a bit of a slog and don’t necessarily always go to plan…good to keep your chin up and keep moving forward, someone solved it somewhere. Great job, takes me back to when we did our bungalow, although I have to say, my wife used to disappear when we did the big jobs !! Good news on the planning, now you can really crack on. One thing i noticed when you helped Paloma and Chris is when you laid the underground pipe you need to chamfer the end of the pipe before inserting into a fitting, otherwise as you push the fittings on it will cut the seal or fold it back in the fitting which will leak later on. It's worth letting them know this and checking before they concrete the floor.

Just a thought my lovelies, I saw another on another renovation, that's it's best not to use shingle on the driveway because it gets in your tyres and shoes and as a result walks into your home. I would suggest Scottish pebbles BUT my worry is that one would fly up and hit your windows. Would you consider another more solid flooring? Just a thought my . Love love watching you guys. When you finish the house, maybe invest in some govee lights,they work via Alexa and are made to be up all year, and they change colours for Halloween Christmas etc all different themes they are little squares that interlink along the soffits etc, and are hidden and you never need to take them down and are not visible ❤

Well, we have Nicky the Brickie and now we have Charlotte the architect. That was awesome Lego! That tea break - yes you see jobs, but listen to that birdsong - beautiful. Sooo pleased that you got the permission. Been waiting all week for that news. Most of your neighbours look lovely, but every area has one and they will not agree with what you do. I watch no.4 too, so nice to see you helping each other. Idea for the steps - the new brickwork wont tie in with the old brick colour - what about tiling over it rather than possibly rendering. Tiles can give that splash of colour and also make them safer as it makes each step stand out rather than the step and riser blending together too much. Think Alfie could get some royalties and let companies put their logo on his pants lol.
