For me, frankly Morgana and Kayle have one of the best Lore of all LoL And I would love, maybe not an animated series like “Arcane” but just a short trilogy depicting the stories of the sisters in animation Especially because this story is very moving, there would be crying, there would be emotion and curiosity about what a particular sister was doing at a particular time

thing about Morgana's LoR level up is the way it is a mirror of how Kayle's level up is. Both sisters are both divine and mortal. But then you have Kayle, who's trying to be only divine but levels up and loses her helmet so looks more mortal. Then Morgana is trying to be just mortal, but in her level up she spreads her wings and thus looks more divine. They mirror each other, and also kind of says that to reach their full power they have to use both halves of their nature. Not sure if that was the intention from the devs, but it totally works for me that way.

For some reason, I never once thought that Morgana was evil. Even with the OG. Her dialogue always suggested immense pain and anguish. Of course, when Kayle and Morgana's reworks came out, I felt even more justified with feeling that Morgana wasn't the evil twin. And maybe one of the reasons why she exposes her skin is to show her fragility with accepting her mortality. Humans are fragile creatures after all, and what better way to show our fragility than by exposing our skin? She's mostly exposed on her back where her chained wings are and her chest where her heart is. As for the leg, well, she needs to be mobile right? Having a slit in her dress gives her that mobility for combat. Of course, this is all just my interpretation. I've always loved Morgana. She was the third champion I bought 7+ years ago.

Morgana is a funny one for me because, on the one hand, I love her. I started playing league within the last five or so years and I liked Morg cause she was pretty and I loved the animations of her dragging, feathery dress. On the other hand, when I first learned about her lore I definitely felt like there was a disconnect. I do entirely agree that LoR Morgana is the superior creature, though, to almost no-ones' surprise.

I feel the difference between Morg and Kayle was supposed to the method of how judgement is passed. Kayle is judgement applied consistently, unbending. Regardless your circumstances for committing whatever crime, you get the same punishment as someone else - and that punishment will more-or-less fit the crime. She's not gonna execute bread-stealing orphans. She's going to give them the same sentence as any other bread thief, which is probably a fine, community service or a short stay in prison. She's eschewing contextual influence as she sees it as a symptom of mortality, and unbefitting of her divine status. She doesn't consider redemption specifically, because she thinks justice is supposed to be punitive. You commit a wrongdoing, you get justice'd. At least, for crimes where something like community service (which, to me, feels like a punishment meant to be redemptive?) isn't an acceptable punishment. Conversly, Morg is supposed to be justice informed by context and emotion. Before she passes judgement and punishment, she asks "Why?" This leads to people getting longer or shorter sentences based on the perceived harm they've caused or felt. Morg probably wouldn't lay any punishment on our starving bread-stealing orphans from earlier, but she may apply overly harsh judgement on people who are assholes, reasoning that she should suffer more because of the suffering they've inflicted (even if said suffering is not technically a moral or legal crime). That suffering can be abated should the wrongdoer recant and seek redemption, because punitive justice doesn't make people better. Kayle's virtue is that she's consistent and reliable, unswayed and incorruptible. But she's also blind, unempathetic and supports strictly punitive justice. Morg's virtue is that she's compassionate and willing to listen. But she's prone to under- or overreaction based on who has her ear or heart, and thinks torture is okay is the person is a shithead. They're supposed to work together to account for each other's flaws and serve proper justice, and the tragedy of their story comes from being unable to due to different feeling about their circumstances. Did it come across this way? Ummm...

Honestly Morgana forgoing her angelic armor for chains and a dress seems fine to me, I actually don't have any real issue with that. Witches have always had a large variety of aesthetics and I really don't see the "big titty goth gf", I think at worst one of those Splash arts had so little waist for no reason. I see a dark witch with a simple design. Though we really should have the LoR stuff as a costume at least. That shit is fire. And really I think the juxtaposition of her being the veiled lady for appearances with strangers given her reputation versus her true self she shows to her followers and those she trusts just makes sense. If Riot actually cared a lot about the pain angle she'd look way more like a character from Hellraiser, and do we actually want to be playing Pinhead styled Morgana? I feel a lot of people are just into the simple sexy dark witch vibes even if there's room to bring more lore into it.

I like Kayle’s design because while I agree that it would make more sense for her to look less and less human as she ascends, I dont believe she, the greater than thou enforcer, would walk around with no armor in her base design. To me, her leveling up reads as her feeling more and more powerful and shedding her armor because she doesn’t need it. Also, her removing her helmet reads to me as “When I judge you, I want you to look into my godly eyes as you are slain.” Last thing, I dont think Kayle is evil in her stories. I think her theme is one of desperate misguidance. I dont remember if it was Nicky or Skyen who said it, but Kayle and Morgana are two sides of the same grief. They both struggle with abandonment of their mother, but where Morgana wants nothing to do with her mother, Kayle wants to be as close to her mother as possible. This is how Kayle processes her grief. It’s flawed and misguided, and she needs therapy, but I dont think it’s malevolent

Kayle, despite her rejection of humanity, is still bound by it, still feels the effects despite her attempts to "purify" herself and become more godly. even when fully ascended, she still appears human.

I just think they have to make a new design for Morgana but also feel recognized because Morgana only has a Visual Update and not a proper Rework, is not about "I wanted to look like this" is more about, "this character still has to be recognized by only look at her" is a design method. But it works well. I like how fancy Morgana is. Morgana and Kayle are 2 of my favorite champions because my internal justice is extremely intense and I tend to be very all or nothing in everything I do processing of morality included (like kayle) but because of that ive corrected (possibly over corrected) by making it so that if something is justifiable under any circumstance I cant say its morally wrong (like theft, killing, or talking behind people’s backs) which leaves me pretty bare bones as far as processing life situations goes since if its not sa, abuse, or willful ignorance directed outwards I cant go “no thats bad”. Ive always liked morgana a lot because she feels like an embodiment of what I call “self sacrificial morality” (because I am a but delusional and believe that willingly sacrificing myself makes me an amazing person when in reality I just an not socially intelligent enough to be discerning. I did not get here out of compassion I got here out of necessity).

Morgana is my favourite champion ever - the first I ever played a decade ago, I even have a tattoo of her - and I think her LOR redesign is a fairly huge improvement. It always felt a lot more grounded in humanity. Though I think exposing skin can be a sign of humanity - scars, wrinkles, imperfections - it is not something that is really expressed in her visual design in LoL. So, I tend to preferred the more covered design of LOR.

At 7:40, I personally believe that Morgana thinks Kayle deserves redemption, or at least needs saving from herself. This impression mainly comes from their shared voice lines. On her (and Kaylie’s) lore I do wish they made it a bit more debatable who was the good one. You’re right that right now Kayle is 100% in the wrong most of the time and is clearly more of an antagonist while Morgana is the sympathetic one. I do love their lore overall (and the slight twist that the dark emo sister is good vs the more angelic holy sister), but showing the pros and cons of each sisters viewpoint would add a lot more depth to their story now and going forward. As for her design I’m 50/50 on it. I LOVE her base LoR design with the more tattered look and veiled face. But I also like her dress and more prestige look in LoL as well just from a visual standpoint. Maybe they could do something similar to Kayle where she evolves over the course of the game?

One argument I never understood is that she is dressed like an aristocrat, since the nobles from Demacia usually wear armour. If anything, she looks mid class to me, so more in the middle that still shows that she's powerful but not superior.

I'm mixed on LoR design. I think her level one is solid, but her level two just has some weird visual choices with her clothes. I don't think either are a huge departure from her League design. Morg and Kayle really strike me as 'limited by medium'. They can never have truly interesting stories, and they can never change, because they are characters in a video game that has no story movement. Stuck in stasis, never to progress. I think their story could ultimately have a happy ending, but it will never have an ending instead. LoR produced a theoretical battle with Aatrox, with Kayle and Ryze, but Morg wasn't there. The Mithra in that story was drastically different than the Morg follower Mithra. Whenever LoR lore is brought up, I'm always slightly disappointed. Its lore is far from perfect, and I feel that a lot of 'lore' added through new cards is just added because 'X champion needs followers for this card set, those followers need lore blurbs' and we end up getting a lot of stuff that only just barely makes sense. Its not expanding the lore, its slowly strangling itself in a web of complicated theoretical characters and stories.

I wish when pretending to be a mortal Morgana wore a worn simple white dress with a dark cloak over it all that covered her wings (maybe even made her look like a hunchback) and covered her eyes (because justice is blind). Kayle should not get more armor as she ascends. Armor is for weak, vulnerable mortals. Gods do not need armor. Nor should she become this featureless abstraction. The last thing the guilty see before their divine punishment is the face of justice and her eyes that cast judgment upon them. THAT is who Kayle is. "Why is Morgana trying to be pretty? She's trying to appeal to the common mortal." Hello, the answer is right there. People are more accepting and welcoming of people that they think are attractive. They find them more trustworthy and approachable. Morgana putting effort into her appearance is a testament to the fact that she wants to connect with the mortals. It's the same reason that Kai'Sa tries to look pretty. Because Kai'Sa doesn't want to be seen as a monster. Unfortunately in Kai'Sa's case, it doesn't work, though. But none of this is "fan service without a purpose". It reveals that these characters crave acceptance from people and want to form a connection with them.

I know it goes against her character (that being she is forcing herself to a mortal level lest to not entertain her celestial power), but gameplay wise I would like to see her have a "level up" system similar to Kayle, like the one in LoR on the PC version of LoL. One because hot take: I like Kayle's gameplay lol, and two I would like to see how that would translate. (Plus a biblically accurate version of Retribution like Mihira would be HARD AS ROCKS to see lmao).

If she ults and zhonyas… walk out of it. That’s a weakspot. Dodging her hard cc is a weakspot. When she uses Q and E she is very limited in what she can do for the next ~10 seconds because her W and R don’t do much without her other moves used in tandem. Morgana is squishy and immobile. She pretty much always has sub 50% wr because if she misses her abilities she is heavily punished. Idk what you’re talking about when you say she lacks weakspots

I love Morgana. Great character, voicelines, fx, gameplay etc. and I love that she dresses fancy. It gives more opportunity to have cool fancy skins. Also, I wouldn't want to play a character in ugly drab clothing. Visuals are important to me.

My ONLY issue with the level 1 Morgana art in LoR... is that only 2 wings are visible. Where are her upper wings? Her main two wings look huge, but they are the only ones you can see...

I think Kayle design can be explained as: while she is low level, she is humanly so she needs armor to protect herself and when she levels up she becomes aspect powers so she doesnt need armor. But i rather not side with her anyway 😒.

I've always viewed Morgana as a Magic Billionaire philanthropist who sleeps out side all of the time in order to have a better understanding of what it's like to be poor and homeless. Morgana is a god, despite what Riot will probably claim to otherwise, and nothing Morgana will ever do will change that. Whenever she's in the viel and rags shown in LOR, she's fundementally lying both to the viewer and to herself. Morgana is not a normal Mortal witch with a big heart to help people, she is a black winged Goddess of Justice whose purpose in existence is to help the innocent and redeem the guilty. I think if anything Morgana's design should get more flamboyant, not less. It would work kind of like Kayles level up system, with Morgana starting the game with a veil and rags to hide her identity. As the game progresses however the situation forces Morgana to embrace her divinity more and more. Each stage not really her gaining more power, but rather holding less and less back. The middle would resemble her current appearance the most, with Morgana taking the appearance of an upper crust aristocrat complete with a revealing dress and makeup to sell the bit. The final stage would be her Greek Goddess with outstretched wings with glowing purple eyes, losing her previous dress to instead replace it with a new one, this time made of dark fire and magic to signify how far she is from the mortals that matter so much to her. But crucially she never takes a single step off the ground. Morgana still maintains her humility and connection to mortality even at this point. That is until her ultimate, where she gives any connection to mortality, sores above the ground, and turns into Biblically accurate Angel before doing her best to kill whatever forced her to resort to this. The word forced would be important for the situation. I could see all of the voice lines during the transformations explaining deep displeasure at the idea of being less and less mortal as time goes on. I could even see Morgan's Ultimate line being something like "You made me do this" or something similar. What you y'all think?

I agree that League's Morgana's sumptious dress doesn't really make sense, but one thing I DO like about it is that her back is fully exposed. That sense of vulnerability is really relevant to her character and the theme of forgiveness imo, but that detail is lost in the sex appeal of the design.
