I'd like to give a shoutout to Kled (and Skaarl!). He in my opinion is perfect. Goofy, yet so representative of his region. He's a counterpart to Poppy, a classic champion. The voice lines might be best in class. He's a drunk, old, insane, lizard riding bandito who loves nothing in this world except himself, his land, his lizard, and some good ol' Tacos.

Maybe she does have scars but they are not visible with her default attire. I don't know if they explicitly said in the lore that she has none but if they haven't they could always release a short story with an image and see her back or leg and they will have a huge scar(s). I think she is fantastic and wouldn't change anything. Scars behind clothing can also be part of storytelling. As much as it shows a character is hardened, visible scars can be rather cliche. Knowing that they potentially exist intrigues me way more than actually seeing them :]

As well depending on the location of scar as well cuz there are certain locations where it can be pretty cliche. Placement of a scar can tell what story.

Ok so 99% of people forget she's in the game, but Lissandra is so cool imo. She's an immortal ice witch that was blinded by Volibear, a demigod, and has hidden the history of the entire freljord on her own due to not wanting others or herself to face the past in which she murdered her sisters and their tribes and she is constantly working to just barely keep at bay the void that she has released unto the world out of fear and the personality of a character like this is portrayed awesomely through her design. She's got a giant armored helmet and shoulderguards over a black dress that connects to the black ice that she uses to move around instead of her feet, with all of this showing that she's this guarded, unemotional person. Then she's constantly pointing and reaching out while moving to signify that one she's blind and two she's desperate for something. Then her skin is blue due to herself becoming immune to true ice and then she has a long white braid to accentuate her statue like height and figure while also giving her a slight sense of humanity and elegance. There's just so much you can see about the character just by watching her move around and I think she's underappreciated in design, gameplay, and lore way too much. Even her gameplay matches with her design and lore because her gameplan in teamfights is either to keep the enemy cced as long as possible until they die or to keep yourself alive as long as possible while the enemies die around you with your passive going off.

@@Koksaraa Not saying the design choice is bad, just 'generic'. But it works very well on her case, so it's good design. Well, however, Nicky didn't put her in the ranking. What is happening? There must be several reasons. I'm not a designer myself (although I create some OC aka original characters) but here's what I can think of: 1. Lissandra was a product of old lore (Journal of Justice). So some of the details of modern lore, like True Ice or Black Ice, might be derived from Lissandra design alone by process of adaptation instead of created from scratch. 2. They should explore more of Freljord's modern thematics (accessories, primal powers, etc) before designing, but it's unlikely, because of point 1. 3. Boob window, of course. 4. Or if these are not the actual reasons, maybe the others designs are simply better, overpowering her in comparison.

I mean, c'mon, with all of that 40k lore with constant torment due to the sheer shame and agony of existence driving him mad, with all the mentions of how he is a complete and utter perversion of what he used to be once; this brilliant warrior of the sun reduced to a miserable creature below even the worms in dignity, a monstrosity which knows no bounds as death is prefferable to it's wretched torture of a life. And what do we get in game? A majestic demon, crown of horns and all. Where's the perverse form of his that mocks divinity itself? Where's the mutating, malformed carcass that decays with each second, devoured by Aatrox to keep the lights on for just a second longer? Where are the scars of dozens of battles that riddle the current body of his? Where do we see the desperation, the hunger for battle? The drive to destroy, to consume, to overtake and eventually destroy all along with himself? A D&D devil with a bastard sword. Awesome, amazing, fantastic.

Probably a weird pick, but...Ahri. To me, Ahri is a fantastic case study in how to develop a character beyond her initial roots. While once just a fox that absorbed magic and essence from her victims, she's become a tragic Vastaya huntress with an addiction to consuming memories. Who's also trying to find herself and where she came from. Her entire character has become based around both good and bad memories. And I think that's such a fantastic direction to go towards with her character. On top of that, so many other interpretations of her have improved her design so much, going for a more feral and wild look compared to just archetypical sexy. Which please, Riot, continue with that direction for her ASU.

The lack of Heimerdinger makes me extremely sad (or any yordle I honestly, Ziggs is pretty great too) but Heimer is a great design, gotta love the afro. Vex is also pretty damn good for a new champ, the fact she's designed to look like a goth teen mixed with a sloth is a really fun design.

At first I didn't really agree with the Ivern pick because he didn't seem all that special until you brought up the trope and how tired it is. That made me realize how between his motions and voice lines especially his personality is brought through the character and is so different from the default tree man he could have been. Taric's design would have been better but I never fail to smile when I see Taric. He's the ONLY character where I will actually use his base model over using a skin. His face could look more in line with is splash art but I like the big nose/squared chin approach.

im a little disappointed vi isnt in the honorable mentions because the release of vi was what got me started playing league back in 2012 her art and graphics were just so good in my opinion and that splash art alone was enough to make me start league. i started league *for* vi and to this day she is still #1 in my heart also pyke

I’m pretty sure kindred just takes on different forms depending on where the character comes from and what they believe. Kinda like The Volibear as he appears differently to those who summon him, spoopy people get the thousand pierced bear, normal peeps get the regular volibear.

My top boy (who you already mentioned) is Ekko. I don't know what it is about him, but I love his lore, his character, his design and "Seconds" is imo the best League cinematic (though I am well aware that is a case of favouritism). I am just a bit sad at the Arcane version completely missing the "kid" part of the original design (which is just saying I want him to be less serious in the show). Also, how did you not mention a single Ascended? Not even in the Honorable Mentions!?

If you ask me, the design of kayn is really good, yes he is the generic edgy boi with a monster inside him, but he is the perfect rapresentation of his character type

As a Kayn main I know his design isn't the most original but one thing that I want to highlight is that riot pretty much made this character knowing that he will be sort of "goofy" because he's the cliche of the edgy anime teenager with a big ass weapon, I love his voice lines with Rhaast it' s like Riot didn't take this character seriously when making it he's like a parody and that's what I like. He's a little bit like Deadpool like he's badass but kind of goofy as he is a sort of parody of the badass super hero.

I'd agree with Nunu and Willump being #1 because he reminsd me of old League, where it was fun, and joy, and comedic and even dark comedic. New League is no longer that, it's all dark and edgy. Ironically Nunu and Willump represent the good side of League, while Fiddlesticks represents the dark side of League, kind of funny they went head to head.
