Thanks so much for your lovely comments! At the current time auto CCs on KZbin are optional so it's up to the viewer to turn them on or off. The alternative is to add captions yourself before uploading to KZbin.

My dad watches my videos with closed captions because, and I quote "It makes them funnier.". I didn't realise how easy it could be. I do all my uploads from my ipad (I film and edit on there too, I know, hpw primitive.) So I'll have to get out my lap top and do this. It just makes sense. I agreed with you at the start, it does feel daunting to add something else on, especially seen as I'm just doing my videos for fun. But if it helps more people enjoy them, its a no brainer.

You're both right, it does take time to generate the YT auto captions. But then I have noticed that some KZbinrs really don't have auto CCs. I'm unsure whether there is a difference between countries, or whether they've not been fully rolled out to all users. Don't give up though, even if you don't have auto CCs take the time to add your own, they're so important.

Hello, Perhaps you can clarify something. I see you've added a load of tags just after your description. Can you clarify if these are # (which I've heard are not SEO) or are these tags SEO like the ones I read to add in the settings section of my channel set up. Thanks. Also on my older videos where I didn't purposefully add CC, the little tap in the bottom left adds them in. Are you recommending we take the additional step to add CC that pop up automatically to increase viewership or saving time and just assuming viewers will click the CC if they want/need CC? Sorry if this is confusing... Just trying to figure out how to have CC option but also to save time.

Hi I sometimes add a couple of tags (up to 3) directly after my description which don't really affect SEO. To be honest KZbin has had a bit of an update and tags aren't as important now as they used to be. There's no harm in using them but they don't carry as much weight as before. In terms of captions I'd definitely recommend you add them to your videos; they help you reach a wider audience. I did also work out that closed captions probably helped Google add Key Moments to my videos so they're definitely not to be ignored.

You need to enable subtitles/closed captions at the bottom of your videos, lovely. There is a tiny button on the bottom RH side of each video as you watch it. Hover your mouse over it and turn it on until you see a red line appear underneath ;)

@@kwiggy5091 Editing is more challenging than the average viewer realises. I hope you find that it's well within your time-budget. Eventually you'll learn ways to minimise the task by planning your "story board" to flow in a sequence as you take the original clips. Keeping the first few videos as short as possible will give you quick success as you discover what works for you.

I wanted to start a let's play for a general storyline I had in my head for a sandbox type simulation game and found my audio wasn't clear and strong and the recording itself lacked structure. I scrapped it and tried again, because I had the foresight to back up my save prior to the recording point that had all my prep work down.

You can use automatic captions, which is what this tutorial is about. However, you will need to edit them since there is no punctuation and some words may not be accurate.

As far as I can tell the problem may arise because the audio isn't clear enough. It's a bit of a grey area and I've not found any proper explanation as to why some people have access to auto-captions, and others don't.

Hi Marina, good question. If YT's captions are spot on, then leave them. I'm unsure what difference it makes in terms of SEO, but it's certainly better to use YT's native captioning than using third party caption tools.

The problem is, automatic subtitles has very unique feature, is when they types automatically word by word and when string ends, they move up and new empty string appears for typing. But it's not perfect and some words are different. If you edit automatic subtitles, then they saved with time stamps and this feature no longer works. Subs appear as whole sentences.
