I would also tell you not to pay much thought to those who are always putting you down, slandering you, telling you how worthless you are if your around those types of people you'll never know how good you can be because they will never see it! The darkness has an evil job that it always does and that is to blind people with darkness so much that they cant see the light that is around them, and if they have the power and you give in then the darkness wins and every single hateful and resentful person that you had a bad experience with will also win because they were able to stop you and keep you down! It is through the bad experiences and darkest times that when you can bring it to light through your surviving it and becoming stronger that your experiences will also show someone else how to rise above it and overcome!! My daughter did me a kindness by telling a small lie to me. I will return the favor by not telling her that I know she lied. It warms my heart that she lied to me to spare my feelings. If I had done for my mother, what my daughter did for me, she would have used the kindness as a weapon to hurt me. My mother would have punished me and shamed me for being a, "liar," and never would have appreciated or seen the reason behind it. Acting in love, with decency, civility, and respect, is so difficult when you've never seen it.

Such awesome wisdom... I needed this in October. I started to stress over retirement, then I got anxiety, trying to stop it., then i got insomnia, and depression.. I'm totally alone now, with no purpose, identity, structure, social interactions, friendships at work..... Im uncomfortable , afraid, and unable to go out of the apt, I lost interest in doing anything, and not loving life. I am having mental breakdowns....... all because of retirement. I myself also struggle finding joy in life. At the moment I'm looking to do some voluntary work. The teachings of the stoics, as well of buddhism remember me to control my thoughts. Thoughts are good servants, but bad masters. I wish you well sir. 🙂

@jjclegg8725 Thank you for caring for me,.. I ended up retiring,.. and has devastated me. I tried so hard to return,... Co. doesn't allow, because of seniority position. I'm suffering mentally. I have depression, anxiety now... and unable to do anything,.. it's like being crippled. My brain ruminate on my mistakes,.. knowing that thus all could have been prevented. I've called 988, and talking with psychologist,.. but,.. it's not helping. I just want my life back,.. but knowing it's impossible... just flattens me. 🙏🫶

I'm hearing you. You're not alone. Come over and we'll have coffee! I believe it's not all about "retiring" but embracing change and new identity. He said, "Nothing changes until we change." That's a tough one. Reframing our life. Also, believe having a dog or cat helps. Depression and anxiety are best friends and can quickly take you down n keep u down. Medication helps me. Cognitive therapy helps too. World events also factor in feeling isolated and lonely. Just remember to love yourself. You'd be surprised how many people are suffering as you are. I'll be your friend and keep you in my prayers. 🤗❤️
