Mara Cecilio From what I understand, they're celebrating Nico's birthday, my guess is that's his dad and he's got a lot of troubles of his own but wants to show his son "a good time" or some "you're becoming a man" bs. As the night progresses, Nico is more and more uncomfortable and ashamed of his dad. At the end the father drove his son away from him cause of the unhealthy behavior and ended up alone

Also, I just thought of something, no matter if that's his dad or not, that man is very self-conscious about his age (when his hat falls and his balding head is showed he's uncomfortable) and is trying to sort of re-live the good old times through Nico while showing he's still "cool"
