Now this is a beauty and a half. It's nice to see Lego put to build something with building and that was/is from real world. Only question is how much would the parts cost, since I see here a lot of 'special' ones. Nevertheless, nice model and build.

Really cool model. In general I don't like the idea of using non-servo motors for steering as it feels like cheating in smaller models, but here it kind'of makes sense for this kind of vehicle.
@Nico71Fr
@Nico71Fr 3 жыл бұрын
For me it depends of the functionality you want. If you want accurate and slow steering, a M motor with worm screw is good . I also has the advantage to not power the motor when you do not operate the steering, which gives more current and power to the other motor, especially in trial truck. If you want responsive steering with return to center, then the servo is better of course. You can also consider the realism, the steering on this truck does not have a return to center, it is based on worm screw / pinion / lever and hydraulic cylinder to help. In any case, thank you for your comment !

I will look with buildamoc if they can release the model for sale, but with the pneumatic parts and motors (especially the M which becomes expensive), it will be hard to be cost effective ! For the China brand, as long as they copy original Lego set or moc, I do not want to work with them. It includes also Cada which seems to be "white" but I have been in Lego field for more than 10 years so I know what they have done before.

@Nico71Fr
@Nico71Fr 3 жыл бұрын

Thanks for your comment, I use Ldcad for making the 3D model, and Lpub for rendering/publishing the instructions. It uses the Ldraw open library that you can download on ldraw (check Ldraw all in one installer to start).

@@Nico71Fr Thank you. I use Studio and there is no such a nice feature there to show cable placement. I use real photos to show where to put cables, they are ok, but not as clean and neat as your way of showing them in the program itself.

May I please know why didnt You use a servo motor for steering?
@Nico71Fr
@Nico71Fr 3 жыл бұрын
Because it is not enough accurate in trial truck and drain battery to keep its position, which gives less energy for the other drive motor. The servo is usefull for fast car which doesn't require accurate steering or torque on the pinion, but have the advantage of the return to center. In trial truck you do not need it.
