Iori using swallow reverse is probably one of if not THE hypest moment in this game for most long time fate fans, As this technique is used by one of the OG servants. Words cannot state how hype that is. But to explain, that technique is used by Sasaki Kojiro, the guy with a purple ponytail and with the long ass sword strap to his back that appears in Iori’s flashback. He is Musashi’s rival, and later Iori’s second teacher after this timelines Musashi pass away. Swallow reverse was developed by Kojiro purely because the guy was so bored that one day he spotted a swallow bird and want to cut it down, but as the bird flies all over the place, the man spend so much time and effort that he develop a secret technique just so that he can kill that damn bird. It is a technique where three concurrent arching blades close on the enemy from all sides to create a prison, allowing no chance for defense or evasion. While Kojiro downplays it as simply successive slashes done "quickly", it is actually bending the laws of physics to multiply its existence. It starts with a flash from this world, followed by two absolutely simultaneous, over-lapping flashes that disregard the concept of time and space, producing a slash attack that arrives from three different directions from multiple dimensions. That’s right, the man was so bored, and so dedicated, that he develop a sword technique that BREAKS THE LAWS OF PHYSICAL, (without any magecraft btw) JUST TO KILL A BIRD!!!

It was only given to him after he crossdressed as a maid in order to facilitate an assassination plan and kill his father's enemies while drunk; so he was nicknamed "Brave of Yamato" (Japan) as an ironic nickname for his cowardly tactics. The fact Takeru even lets Iori use that name once actually really proves how much their bond has deepened at this point.

You know the funny thing is Nico, Rider is well several different contradictions in one. In Fate series Minamoto no Raikou is a woman, in mythology they were a famous yokai slayer who had four subordinates the Four Heavenly Kings. Famous for defending Japan’s capital in the Heian Period and slaying some of Japan’s most ferocious yokai including Shuten-Douji and Ushi-Gozen, aka Rider. Also in Fate the two were separate halves of the same person as different personalities while in myth two seperate people, Raikou and Ushi-Gozen. With Ushi-Gozen being their yokai/divine half as while born mortal they having been part ogre and part divine through having a divine parent in Gozu-Tennou which is the Japanese name for Indra, making her also a half-sister to Arjuna. On her own Raikou is mentally disturbed and has self loathing for their divine/ogre self. But with Ushi-Gozen being summoned with only herself, she has no restraint and is completely insane! Having to taking Shousetsu’s wish to extreme conclusion and basically wipe everything off and including herself. Finally Ushi-Gozen was summoned in her youth, if summoned normally…well there is no way in hell even with the armor they could pass themselves off as a man.
@BananaChicken2110 ай бұрын
>there is no way in hell even with the armor they could pass themselves off as a man Understatement of the goddamn century right there.
@hassanico999911 ай бұрын
As you mentioned, Ushi Gozen's explanation is kinda glossed over. That's because she's TECHNICALLY a returning character from FGO where her whole deal originated (except the one in FGO is an adult woman compared to this depiction). In fact, while ALL the Japanese VAs for characters were announced before release, Rider was explicitly the only one they intentionally kept hidden till post-release. This is probably also why Rider had that strong voice filter applied. So on top of the various classes that Heroic Spirits can be summoned into, they can also be summoned at various stages in their life, whether at the start of your journey, or late into it like Li Shuwen. For example, Cu Chulainn could be summoned as his teenage-self, Setanta, from before he killed that dog and earned his name/title as well as his spear. But it's not just age, and as Ushi Gozen explained, she and Minamoto no Raikou were technically the same person. Raikou was a demi-god descended from Indra, the Indian god of lightning and thunder. So the human part of her was Raikou, while the demon/divine half of her was another personality sharing the same body who came to be known as Ushi Gozen. Yet, somehow, only the latter was summoned, which is why her telling Shousetsu that she's "Raikou" is technically not a lie. For reference, you mentioned Yoshitsune from Persona in an earlier episode; Minamoto No Raikou is his ancestor and basically the most famous monster/youkai-slayer in Japan (and a man in real life). In the original myth, they were separate beings (and brothers), and Raikou put an end to the monstrous Ushi Gozen as well as many other infamous demons and oni. So basically a bigshot Japanese hero. One last note, and this relates to Ushi Gozen's weird Doc Oc style mecha-spider armor. In myth, "Ushi Gozen" was an "Ushi Oni" (meaning Ox Oni). These were beings with the head of an ox but a giant spider body; Samurai Remnant does a bit of role reversal here, with Ushi Gozen summoning a giant headless ox, while she herself (basically its "head") fights like a spider. It's essentially just a really neat twist on the design of an ancient youkai.

As a Fate Fan, I suspected Yui Shousetsu was a Homunculus since Yui's profile states her Composition are Abnormal and her pale Hair shares the same characteristics to the other Homunculi in the Fate Franchise. Normally, Homunculus are given a humanoid body and are something of a strong Mana Battery similar to the leylines where for example they could provide any Rouge Servants Mana to be able to move everywhere and be at their strongest if any Homunculus have made contact and won't have to rely much with the Leylines for Mana Consumption. Sadly, Homunculus are artificial creations of Magecraft they don't last long similar to how a battery works that they would expire and die out and cease to exist where you can't revive them. They aren't the same type of Homunculus from Master Detective: Rain Code as they have much shorter lives.

What you are seeing with Ushi Gozen disobeying command spells is the effect of Madness Enhancement EX, normally a class skill belonging to Berserkers. At such a high rank, It increases her strength greatly, but it’s nearly impossible to reason with them. The loop hole of the command spell is that because of Madness Enhancement, she interprets what Yui says as what she wants to hear, and any command she receives she will rationalize to her point of view. In her eyes, she is doing what the command says, even if it’s the complete opposite.

The way the Holy Grail works very basically: People make a contract with it to be “saved” on The Throne of Heroes, which exists outside of time and space. So from the Throne’s perspective, it dispatches its “data” simultaneously around the timeline, which is why the servants from the future can be summoned. This is also why servants do not remember their past grail wars, because, you know, they can be considered “copies” of the original data. That said, some servants have formed contracts a bit differently, which is why it’s not the data being summoned from the throne, but rather the original person themselves, like Musashi, time traveling to get the Grail/Waxing Moon.

Considering how Minamoto-no-Raikou/Minamoto-no-Yorimitsu normally looks in this series... Ushi Gozen with an original design and not a sprite re-use was both a surprise and not a surprise to Fate fans with how she looked, material books do state this was how she looked as a teenager so you could say Ushi Gozen is also pulling a "Raikou Lily" here. But yes Ushi Gozen and Minamoto-no-Raikou are the same person in the Fate/ series, Ushi Gozen is just one aspect of Raikou, and technically Raikou killing Ushi-Gozen was just her sealing off/destroying part of her mind and such that Ushi-Gozen inhabited, sort of like a split-personality but two people inhabiting the same body is the more correct analogy. Yui Shousetsu was a real person, however the character Yui Shousetsu from this game that is based on that person has some twists and changes for their existence in this franchise such as being female and a homunculus, its pretty common for Fate/ to take existing characters or people and do some twists and changes for its setting.
@doctorsnakeeater199711 ай бұрын
Raikou and Yoshitsune are two different people, the second name you're thinking of is Minamoto-no-Yorimitsu.
@johncummins4611 ай бұрын
So, the thing with servants that come from "the future" is that doing that is REALLY FUCKING HARD! To be able to summon a servant you usually need a catalyst. Something that can connect you to that heroic spirit and bring them forth. The issue being that if they're from the future what do you use as a catalyst? It would effectively mean having to find an object that connects to a person you know absolutely nothing about BEFORE it ends up meaning something to that person. The only reason why Li Shuwen is here is because he's a rogue servant and the ritual tapped into spirits regardless of time. Otherwise, he wouldn't really have been here. The only other way would be not using a catalyst at all and just hoping that you have an affinity with a servant that happens to be from the future. Add onto the fact that it means you yourself know little to nothing about your own servant and what they might be capable off and it's not as big of an advantage as you'd think.
@BlaxeFrost-X11 ай бұрын
You forgot one detail, if you were to use a catalyst, the affinity would be in turn at risk, it's a high risk high reward since you force the summon gacha to have the servant you want, but if you don't, the affinity will be greater, since you yourself would be the catalyst and your personality and desires will be taken into account. You can see this with Lancer and Chiemon, both have been sacrificed while doing what they thought was right and they both think they are beyond salvation
@johncummins4611 ай бұрын
@@BlaxeFrost-X True, but not the point I was trying to get across. Ultimately what I was trying to say is that you can't really game the system by summoning a servant that comes from a time period no one could possibly know about without doing some major guess work and relying on a lot of luck. I brought up the whole affinity thing because that's one of the only other ways you could manage that, but it'd still be low none the less. Whether or not a catalyst affects your affinity wasn't really the point

@GabrielLopes-jj8rx11 ай бұрын
To add to this: servants from the future like Li have one technical disadvantage against other servants. Its a big part of Fate lore that, the longer the world goes, the less mystery and magic you'll find, which is why its harder for being closer to modern days to be heroic spirits, their feats become less fantasy-like and more achievable by regular people. So a servant from the future like Li, could "technically" have a harder time keeping up with servants like Saber and Ushi, who were fighting gods and monsters as part of their everyday life. Thats only on paper though, Nasu and Higashide are huge kung-fu nerds, so of course Li is broken as hell and can keep up with almost any servant, and thats valid for several other "modern day servants". But its an interesting thing to keep in mind with how summoning someone from the future might not be THAT broken, since their feats probably wont be as phenomenal as that of servants from the past

Another piece of irony is that a part of Ushi Gozen's name means cow which is why Raikou's design looks like a sexy MILF and has a personality of a Mom. Since everyone is talking about Rider I will go over their master Yui Shousetsu. Yui during the year the game takes place should have been around 45-46 years old. He was a Japanese military scholar and rōnin in the Edo period. He was one of the ringleaders of the 1651 Keian Uprising, an attempt to overthrow the Tokugawa Shogunate, but informal communication uncovered the plot and he was cornered and committed suicide. Yui was known as one of the "Three Great Rōnin" along with Kumazawa Banzan and Yamaga Sokō. Also, I know I said I would focus on Yui but one thing about Rider and Fate skills. Berserkers normally have a signature skill called Mad Enhancement that both increases their power while making them superficially rational (explaining why most of them can't speak well). However, Ushi-Gozen has an EX-ranked version of this skill and thus could interept every command she's given, no matter how benign, as a request for more death and destruction.
@jameshadden179811 ай бұрын
So here’s the thing with Ushi Gozen and how she relates to Raikou. To put it mildly, Raikou is…..insane. As in the poor girl is so mentally broken due to a combination of factors that while she can be summoned in multiple classes, every single one has Madness Enhancement to some degree. These factors are being a child of the Japanese lightning god, which in Fate is syncretisically also the Indian Lightning god Indra. Resulting in a Divine Child with the blood of an Oni, Ludicrous strength and abysmally deep self loathing issues from said mixed divine and oni blood which compelled her to rampage and kill. She has to constantly watch herself and keep herself and her divinity in check lest she does lose control and let the embodiment of these dark feelings, Ushi Gozen run wild and kill anything in sight. Think of Ushi Gozen as an evil split personality buried deep in Raikou’s mind that starts to emerge if she looses control. The second factor in her broken mental state is an utterly reprehensible father who treated her as a combination Oni slaughtering weapon and breeding tool, and to give an example while Raikou’s desire in life was to be a mother and indeed was a mother of sorts to one of her subordinates (Sakata Kintoki, a man with Oni blood), her father ordered her to sleep with and product offspring with said subordinate. And was then to kill him once she had given birth to the children, though thankfully this never came to be. In terms of strength Raikou is in the upper ranks of how strong a Servant can be. And probably the best Servant to pick if your foe is demonic. She cuts through them like paper to a shredder. Funnily enough, being summoned as a Berserker is her in a saner state of mind than her as a Rider. As a Berserker, she’s an overly affectionate lady who loves to mother people and is perfectly capable of reasonable conversations on topics not related to motherhood. Albeit when it comes to being a mother, she makes Aria look tame in terms of clinginess. As a Rider though, well that is her aspect of Ushi Gozen with nothing holding it back. She says that she separated from Raikou, but that’s more her saying that this iteration of her is as a Servant is Raikou manifesting purely as her Ushi Gozen personality. Oh and her Madness Enhancement as a Rider? She interprets every order or request from her master, no matter how benign, as a request for more destruction. It’s why she shrugged off the Command Seals as, to her she was fulfilling Yui’s orders.

Funny enough, unlike Cu, Arjuna and Gil, Ushi Gozen fully draws her power from her divine half. Cu and Arjuna have their human feats mixed in, and Boss straight up rejects his divinity. Its why Ushi even says that she cant win if she keeps pretending to be Raikou, she is nerfing herself by tapping more into her human half's powers and feats rather than her divine half.

Regarding Rider's identity: Ushi Gozen and Minamoto no Raikou are brothers in our world. However, in Fate, Raikou was born with Demon blood, and as such makes her and Ushi Gozen be the same person. With Raikou acting as the main personality while Ushi is a split personality. -Ushi Gozen is the child of Indra, which makes her the younger sister of Arjuna. Also, if you want to know the story/legend that Raikou is well known for. It is the killing of the Oni, which resided on Mt Oe. Which was done with the help of her four Heavenly Kings and also led to the severed head of the Oni Shuten Douji attacking the Samurai and her retainers. And yes, Raikou is a situation of genderbending. Edit: Raikou was added to FGO via an event that can not be played anymore. Granted, a lot of servants who got added to the mobile game were added via events, which can't be played anymore due to the reruns having happened a while ago. So there's a lot of servants who don't show up in the story unless the writers want to use them. Also, Musashi only appears in Fate/Grand Order, FGO Arcade, and Fate/Samurai Remnants. Minamoto no Raikou is a Servant that debuted in the Mobile Game, Ushi Gozen also has appeared in that game though not exactly like this. Raikou and Ushi Gozen are something of a unique spin in Fate lore. History wise Raikou and Ushi were noted to be brothers as Shosetsu stated. In Fate lore, Ushi Gozen is Raikou's split personality. Due to unique circumstances Raikou was born with demonic blood, making her a technical offspring of the God Gozu Tenno, who in Fate lore is another identity of Indra, King of Gods of Hindu Myth. During her teenage years Ushi Gozen was the more dominant personality but eventually Raikou (who is a generbend) retook control and suppressed her other side. As stated before, while Ushi Gozen technically appeared in the Mobile game it was basically sharing Raikou's form. This game is the first time Ushi-Gozen appears as the dominant side. A thing to note about Servants is because of their nature as shades of their original selves, they can manifest differently depending on Class or circumstances. In this case Shosetsu had the misfortune of summoning Raikou as a Rider which while her most powerful, is also the state her dark side is in control. Ironically in FGO Raikou is a Berserker the Class associated with Madness but it's her Rider here self who is more insane. Though it seemed at the end when she died, a small bit of Raikou surfaced for an instant. Also to clarify the reason Ushi Gozen wasn't affected by the command Seals is because she's so insane she actually genuinely thinks was she's doing is what her Master wants, even when said Master is saying no.

Random Fate Trivia #16 Now that we all have met Li Shuwen, one of my all time favorite Servants in the entire franchise, let's do talk about his time in the Fate media! Li Shuwen debuted....not from the gacha game for once! He actually debuted in a different game that's going to get a remake soon, titled Fate/Extra. What is kind of interesting is that this Li Shuwen debuted...actually from the gacha game, sorry fellas. The one in his debut series he was much much younger. His younger form eventually also made its way to the gacha game but as a Lancer. Li Shuwen is notable in the Extraverse (anything in the Fate/Extra timeline) for his incredible martial arts prowess. His NP, No Second Strike, is meant to be taken as literally as possible. His Noble Phantasm isn't really a Noble Phantasm either, it's just he mastered this move to perfection that it could be classified as a Noble Phantasm when really, it's about as powerful as one. Last factoid about Li Shuwen: Between his younger self and his older self, you wanna know what their wish for the grail is? Their wish for the grail is to fight each other. Yeah, younger Li is more adept with the spear and old Li is adept with his fists. Both are keenly aware that they exist independently and so, their wish is to simply see which is truly the strongest.

To be entirely honest I'm not entirely sure why more servants or masters don't go the route of giving completely fake names like for example Mario Mario, Bite me, or Literally Satan and just really emphasize the literally part of the name. Or for the real kickers just have one servant that reads off the players name just to really keep the players on their toes! Will it make sense? Nope! But just think of how wild it'd be to run into a servant calling themselves Nicob!
@doctorsnakeeater199711 ай бұрын
Most of the time, its pride. Hiding their true name is one thing, but giving a fake one could insult their pride as a Heroic Spirit, depending on where they came from. An honorable Knight or Samurai or whatever operating under a completely fabricated name instead of their Class name could be seen as demeaning to them, or beneath them. And the ones that *would* use fake names are usually crafty enough that there's no point in doing so, because they'd never tell you their actual name anyway so a fake name is absolutely pointless.

So here is one of my favorite moments (if not the best) in this game: Iori, of all people, used Swallow Reversal, Korjiro's famous technique (and technically his Noble Phantasm) against his master Musashi who is Kojiro's rival. It was hinted back then but to see it is amazing.

Specifically, on the Koei-Tecmo side, where some of the lead devs were so enamored by Musashi's big story chapter in FGO that the only thing they asked for when negotiating with Nasu / Type Moon is "We want to make a Fate game and Musashi HAS to be in the spotlight".

Gilgamesh mood is based entirely on the circumstances and the state of the world when he appears in. He’s had more heroic roles than antagonist ones at this point, and even the Prototype version of himself who is an alternate version ala Musashi was designed as more of a rival to Fate/Prototype Saber. Ushi Gozen is a demigod! So is Gilgamesh and Arjuna! Gilgamesh is 2/3rds God in fact!
@DankuCrown11 ай бұрын
I think to help you wrap your mind around how hype Iori doing a double Swallow Reversal is we can Nicofy it a little. He learns this technique from Sasaki Kojiro, rival to Miyamoto Musashi. Sasaki Kojiro is famous for a number of reasons, not least of which was his most famous move, "Tsubame Gaeshi", or Swallow Reverse Strike, or simply, Swallow Reversal. Now, historically the technique was an extremely fast use of two vertical strikes, the idea being they are so fast it's as if you are being hit from two places at the same time. Fate takes this idea a step further and has Kojiro ruminate on a sparrow's flight and out of boredom, decides to perfect a technique that can prevent all means of escape and guarantee you strike the bird down before it can dart away. So Kojiro breaks the rules of time and space, canonically, by practicing so hard. Swallow Reversal becomes a move that strikes very literally from three directions at the same time. Iori does this with two swords. Swinging simultaneously from six directions. Iori synthesizes the Niten Ichiryu style of his first master Musashi with the incredible focused technique of that masters greatest rival Kojiro to do something beyond anyone else, surpassing time. Truly, this may be the greatest feat of swordsmanship by any human-being now and for all history. Now, here's the Nicofy part, Sasaki Kojiro does this great feat of speed historically and in Fate with a sword type called a "nodachi", this is essentially a Japanese greatsword, a mega-katana that can reach up to 5 feet long. Kojiro has perhaps the most famous nodachi of all called the "Washing Pole". This weapon, Washing Pole, can be found in several games and anime and so on, such as Dark Souls as one of my favorite weapons, but it also features prominently in FINAL FANTASY 7 as Sephiroth's signature weapon, named in that game after Masamune, the famous swordsmith. This is the Fate/FF7 crossover we needed.
@okaminodin432111 ай бұрын
Okay, so the command spells have some interesting quirks: the more general the command, the least power it has. So like, things like "drop that weapon" or "don't kill them" are stronger than just "stop" (without specifying what) or "obey me". Then of course there's loopholes, if whatever you say can be interpreted different ways, the servant can obey the command in a way different from what you thought. Also related to the commands' strength, the servant's strength and will can let them resist the command. At least if I remember correctly
@lionofash770011 ай бұрын
About the Tsubame Gaeshi/Swallow Reversal - When the game says Simultaneous it ACTUALLY MEANS THAT. Imagine swinging a sword once yet for some reason you got cut in 3 different places. Iori does that with two swords, so he hits 6 times with two strikes IN THE SAME INSTANCE. Essentially, at the moment of use, the blade breaks the concept of space and occupies 3 places at the EXACT SAME TIME.

The Mystic Slayer Minamoto-no-Raikou. A legendary hero with many tales under his belt that involves fighting mystical beings, most notably Shuten-Doji. He is also the founder of the Four Heavenly Kings, which is actually the basis of the Elite Four in Pokémon and other media. Within one of the many written tales of Raikou is a story of his sibling who was born with demonic traits that was shunned by everyone, Ushi Gozen, and was later forced to put him down. In the context of Fate however, they are one and the same. Ushi Gozen is the demonic aspect of Raikou that “he” tried to suppress. As for why Raikou/Ushi Gozen is genderbent when both were combined… It’s because “Ushi” means cow. Ushi Gozen is an Ushi Oni, a cow demon. Milkers. Edit: The reason for her spider limbs armor is because Ushi Onis are typically depicted with a bovine head and spider limbs. *The Swallow Reversal* or *Tsumabe Gaeshi* is the signature technique of Sasaki Kojiro, Musashi’s famed rival. Seeing the swallows picking on his crops and trying to warded them off with his long blade, he found them too agile, with ability to read the change in wind with each strike. And yet he keeps trying, until reality gave in and give him the solution, breaking the one instance of blade swing into three. No matter if the swallows can see the attack coming, it cannot escape three simultaneous blade strikes from three different angles, and so the reality-breaking technique of Infinity was born to combat Musashi’s Zero, the Void.

So Ushi-Gozen here is the evil Alter Ego of Minamoto no Raikou, a certified mommy of a Berserker from Fate Grand Order. The beast she summons is a Ushi-Oni - literally "Cow Demon", a cross between a bull and a spider (hence her second forms spider legs). Yes, Ushi means cow and her normally having mommy milkers is intentional. We've fought Ushi Gozen in FGO in a Persona-esque "fight your alter ego" side plot a few times with Raikou. This, however, is the first time we see her in a unique form - a younger version of Raikou. Younger servants are often called Lily servants by fans, but in reality there is no official name. There's also a relation between her and the Tsukihime / Melty Blood series but... that's going way too deep for now haha

The one thing you need to know about the Holy Grail War is it is absolutely not fair, and that's basically by design. It's essentially a bunch of mages figuring out a loophole in the system of the world to exploit, and they have no issues about winning by cheating. You could have a crazy-powerful mage born from unethical eugenics steamroll the competition by pure force, or a professional assassin catch the other Masters expecting a fair fight off-guard and shoot them to death. It's only really...the real samurai like Shousetsu who have qualms about winning unfairly. Even Iori is willing to play a little dirty if it gives him what he wants, as you see with him beating Musashi by using her rival's technique against her.

someone mentioned one way the command spell could've failed (Ushi Gozen being so crazy she outright nosells it) but another possbility is how the command seal works in general. The command seal works so that general commands are not really useful and their effect could be really minimal. A more specific command works stronger, so for example shouting "come to me!" could cause the servant to outright teleport in front of you. Its very dependant on the sitatuion and on the wording. adding to this, a mage's personal power can also be a factor, where a command may have more of an effect. another example is if you say ordered the servant to obey you no matter what. It'd rordinarily have little to no effect, but if you're a particularly strong mage the ffect may be greater and the servant would even suffer ill effects if they defied the command. So a possbility is that 1) the commands shousetsu gave were too general 2) shousetsu isn't that strong a mage (not TOO likely due to being a hommunculus but who nows) or 3) ushi gozen is THAT strong that even with a command spell she can shrug it off with little consequence. Orrr she's jsut too crazy for it to work, I'm jsut throwing out my own theoriees.

The Tsubame Gaeshi moment is amazing. Unfortunately, it's one of the game's few moments that truly requires you to have played other Fate games in order to appreciate it. Others have already explained about Kojiro and the move, but here's a bit more: being able to interact with other timelines like the move does is considered an application of the second True Magic. To put it simply, Magecraft is a limited reproduction of magic adapted to humans, while only a handful of mages in the world have managed to acquiered real Magic. Magecraft can only go as far as what technology and science could do given enough time, while true magic goes beyond that. Kojiro and Iori here reached a very small use of that through pure fighting skills. That's considered to be on the level of a Noble Phantasm.

So on Yui Shosetsu. He was in fact a real person who raised a revolt against the shogun. He was found out before it could come to fruition and he was executed. Afterwards his body was desecrated and his family crucified. This is one of the fun Fateisms. Take a historical figure and then say “but you didn’t know this.” So Yui became an ‘automaton of meat’ in fate. Yui being female is just a peculiarity of this specific timeline which by this point has obviously long diverged from how things were supposed to go.

So one of the things i really like about the power scaling in the fate universe is that beyond its kinda bonked, is that the fact that concepts means allot. For example most heroes are weak to the thing that killed them, so while they might stats wise be completely unbeatable by everyone else. If one of the other hero's happen to have a concept tied to them that happens to line up with what killed the OP heroic spirit. They suddenly become one hell of a threat. For example Siegfried the Dragon Slayer, bathe in dragons blood and has a insanely high defense because of it. Because of his myth having a part where a leaf left a weak point on his back, which happens to become a conceptual weak point that he can't really do anything about. It makes it super important to keep his true name hidden or else a Archer class or Assassin class who aren't usually as strong in up right fights, become super dangerous since both are experts at attacking weak points.
@user-mtmn7tq4gc2e11 ай бұрын
Well, a Servant coming from the future does have an advantage in the information war, but they arguably lose a lot in terms of firepower: a good part of a Servant's power comes from their legend being known where they're summoned: this "fame boost" makes it so that certain Servants can even keep up with others despite being weak to begin with or even allows them to exist in the first place. It generally works a a sort of "home advantage", the biggest examples of which would be summoning Vlad III in Romania, or Oda Nobunaga in Japan. Miyamoto Iori's use of a dual-sword Swallow Reversal is a bigger deal than it appears to be, as he's technically doing a feat in the domain of Magic, and striking simultaneously because the technique literally uses parallel dimensions to work. The next time we see Musashi after Samurai Remnant is once more in Fate/Grand Order: Cosmos In The Lostbelt, in Lostbelt No.5, Interstellar Mountainous City Olympus - The Day To Bring Down Gods.
@ridewild195611 ай бұрын
So now that you've gotten to this point I would like to explain two concepts introduced by the original game and its fighting game, the concept of lily and alter servants: first is the lily since that's technically what ushi gozen is, basically it's an interpretation of a hero in his or her younger years think king Arthur before the sword or heracles before he was driven mad and killed his family, another servant you are aware of that has a lily variant is gilgamesh, however since so much of his life involves talking about how great he is he gets turned into a shota character, that's how hard he has to be needed. Inversely you have alter servants which are the darkest interpretation of their character brought to life, a prime example of this is Lancer Jeanne, who is a manifestation of the perception that Jeanne hated the English and their burning her something that would go against her very veing as a pure soul, so while ushi gozen is the lily form of the character miyamoto no yoshitsune/raiko she is also the first ever natural alter since all other alters in the series have all been the normal servant corrupted in some way

yes, future servants does have an advantage in that no one would know their strength ot weakness. But its practically a double edge sword as: 1. A catalyst related to a servant is needed in order to summon them, so unless you somehow know who's a future hero, it will fail. 2. Since no one, including the master know who they are, making a strategy that incorporates their strengths and or quirks are nigh impossible. 3. Not knowing their personality or quirk is also a big downside as it limits the duo's teamwork and might result in an unwanted betrayal from either side.

So what defines Riders is that they have some famous vehicle or mount and usually have the ability as servants to summon it as a Noble Phantasm. Now you see Rider's. As for the whole Miyamoto No Raiko(Ox King of Lightning)/Ushi Gozen situation, Miyamoto no Raikou in the Fate franchise is the child of Gozu Tennou who is both an Oni and an incarnation of the Hinu god Indra(this means she is Arjuna's half sister). Legends passes down in-world state that Ushi Gozen was a seperate being, an evil oni that was ultimately slain by Miyamoto no Raikou, but in fact was a split personality of Raikou due to her dual nature. We have actually seen Ushi Gozen take over Raikou before in the phone game as an antagonist.

FUN FACT about Rider in this game: While “Ushi Gozen” is new, the character “Minamoto-no-Raikou” (as well as her older, more comically large…proportions…) is VERY well known among veteran Fate fans. So much so that when the voice actors were announced for this game, Rider’s was the ONLY VA that wasn’t named, as it’d be a dead giveaway as to who she is. This is also why Rider got the voice distortion while inside the armor: to hide her voice.

The power of the command spell is tied to three things. 1) The magical power of the master. 2) The magical power of the servant. 3) How specific the command is. Yui made the vague command to "Obey me" and "Do as I say" which is very a weak/vague commands to make. "Stop" actually did work, but after Ushi-Gozen stopped they just kept going. This is further hindered by the fact that Ushi-Gozen is a demi-god and servants tied to divinity have extra levels of strength just for that tie alone. So if the command is weak and the gap in power between you and your servant is huge, they can just ignore you.

So a bit more on Musashi, this and Fate/Grand Order are the only properties in Fate that's she's appeared in, discounting manga that covers her main story plot in Grand Order. However that isn't to say she won't pop up in more stuff as a fun character to reference to and from. Like I personally wouldn't be surprised if she pops up in the Fate/Extra remake that is currently in production. Also wanted to note on what happen to Musashi after this game, no major spoilers for Fate/Grand Order, just a telling of what happens right after this, cause it's hilarious and takes place in an event that will never be reran again. So after Samurai Remnant she pops up in a desert and found a Holy Grail... And decided to the best thing to do, cause she was hungry, was to cook udon in the holy grail! In doing so she creates a singularity that forms in a oasis styled Las Vegas popping up in said desert while splitting Musashi into two halves. One her playful side, the other her killing instinct. Musashi screwed up so badly that upon the MC finding her, she lied and said she wasn't Musashi, but actually Miyamoto Iori. Since she was in a swimsuit and it's been awhile since she had seen the MC, she figured she could make such a lie believable, it was not. But the whole reason for it was cause she was embarrassed about the mess she created. And the reason I say all this? Cause this event came out almost 5 years ago in the Japanese version. Samurai Remnant was only announced about 1 or 2 years ago. However it was in development for 6 years... So they were already aware of her presence in the plot of Samurai Remnant when writing the event. And as an intention nod had her call herself Iori to foreshadow the fact she had met him before the event happened. So yeah that's the crazy shit the Nasuverse like to do. Fucking foreshadow a game 3-4 years before it's announcement via one reoccurring joke line in a mobile game's summer event... JOKES ARE THE DEEPEST LORE NICO.

Something to note.... the reason Ushi Gozen wanted to destroy everything is because she's aware of the state of this particular timeline..... I don't know if anyone else has explained it yet, but the words 'Quantum Timelock' are involved. Another note, the disaster the Crimson Codex alludes to, Fate Zero shows the end result, It would just be a massive explosion instead of the Fuyuki Fire

gilgamesh key that opens his babylon that can turn into a spinning sword. if i recall right. it is a anti universe weapon if it reaches full spin.

Anti-world to be exact, but to be honest, once you reach anti-world, anti-universe, anti-planet, they’re all basically the same thing at that point.

@@AliceIzuragi6291 Yeah there’s a whole bunch of stuff preventing anyone or anything destroying the earth, let alone the universe. If you ever somehow become a threat to humanity yourself, the earth itself will summon its own servants to hunt your ass down. Ranging between like counter guardian Emiya all the way to Grand servants like First Hassan, Orion, King Solomon, Noah, whom’s conceptionally above Gilgamesh because of their grand servants container.

@@AliceIzuragi6291Da Vinci in FGO outright states that NO Servant or Heroic Spirit originating from our Planet can destroy it so Yeah Gil can't nuke the planet or whatever. It's a plot point in a Story Event so yeah.
