It’s interesting seeing you and Cmee using different tactics for certain parts of this challenge. Some making it easier others making it harder. Though I thought there were two levels that made it impossible (according to Cmee) but I guess there’s just one. Course’ not all the same levels were shown either in these two videos (ie. some were left out). Edit: For example the condart level. Cmee brought in a second player to kill the two enemies whereas you do a more difficult strategy of the fireball and shell.

To be fair, when you collect Purple coins from Captain Toad and give them to Poplins, there is no animation to show you physically touching coins. So I can let it slide. It's more like a debit card rather than physically coins.

If you hold L1 and R1 at the same time for few seconds you can become a ghost so you could finish Oparation Poplin Rescue without touching a coin (as far as ı know) ❤

It's interesting to see the different approaches to the levels. I play the challenge without badges too, using them only when neccesary. In level 2 I saw the note block bridge giving coins and the jump on the blocks too high. I tried jumping under like you did but failed. So, I just used Yoshi. Due to not using badges, I didn't even attempt Hurry, Hurry and just marked it as impossible. And in the Bulrush Level I grabbed the wonder flower and normal exit by damage-boosting on the spikes, to avoid coins. The bulrush charge doesn't need to be ridden. Just follow it safely and get all 3 Wonder Seeds of this level coinless.

I also marked the Pipe Rock Palace as impossible, not able to do the low-jump. I did try a different approach though and left it as plausible. Jump-smack the block with the elephant and turn immidiately to avoid trunking the coins. then get hit twice and jump through upward before the block stops spinning. I didn't get that, so I just took the impossible to avoid coin.

Very cool. I’m actually working on a pacifist run by not killing any enemies, either directly or indirectly. But if they kill themselves or each other, that’s allowed. I just can’t influence them or kick them into each other. Luckily, all the bosses survive and the airships aren’t alive, so I think it’s possible! I’d love to see you try too!

In fact, the 5 World Grand Wonder Seed can be cleared with no coin. The way is to play 2P and kill one person with a wall scroll, then ghost it to another multiplayer person. You can scroll through the wall in the same way for other blocked sections.

You actually don’t need the Wonder Flower in Wubba Ruins! I just did a minimum Wonder flowers run, and I got around that one using the safety bounce badge and the drill hat to cheese my way to the secret exit. Although I suppose you need purple coins to buy the safety bounce badge, so that solution wouldn’t work for you…

Fun fact: In online multiplayer, hitting L+R is a kill switch that turns you into a ghost, a-la the bubble in New Super Mario Bros.. Go back online and give it a shot!!!

I'll be blunt: online multiplayer is cheating. IT'S GARANTEE that you can bypass unpassable obstacles like that. I DEMAND that you do the section where you used the multiplayer CHEAT in offline mode

I would argue/feel online is cheating for a no coin run, simply due to not always being possible (like once everyone is done playing the game, etc...) though I agree with the map purple coins being an exception. Imagine coming back in a few years and trying the challenge again but this time no one or very few people are still online (or the service is shut down) resulting in a definitive no (still a fun challenge, and at the end of the day meant for fun)

I'd say that Captain Toad coins wouldn't count, since they're an arbitrary location reward you're using to get around arbitrary roadblocks. It's more interesting than saying "we can't do it because coins are directly being asked for".

Just so you know, you can turn into a ghost just by holding down both L and R (or maybe ZL and ZR, I can't remember) you can turn into a ghost without dying. You could use this to skip the walls in the stage where you collected the coins

Mario Wonder has made 100% this game on Challenge mode IMPOSSSIBLE Multiple stages CAN NOT even be started if you don't have purple coins if you don't collect wonder seeds if you don't trigger wonder effect if you don't collect ANY power ups and I feel like Badges are in interesting things I would challenge you to 1. Complete the game w100% with out any badges except when you are on a badge trial 2. Complete the game again each time only using ONE badge . I would say once you do invisible, Dash only, Spring Feet, the game will be A Lot harder. Other badges make very little change at all. Coin Magnet, free Mushroom, Sensor , they don't change much at all. But I have found stages that are physically impossible if you don't do wonder effect / power ups

Not sure if I vibe with the ten coins for the bridge in world 5, honestly I'm personally fine with the 50 coins from Captain Toad immediately spent on destroying barriers, but any coins collected in the levels definitely are evil I also noticed some bits got collected, and while they're technically not coins, I dislike them being allowed It is a shame world 5 also locks you out at the end, too

It is actually possible! There blob has a weird interaction when respawning next to blocks, you can phase through them, id recommened checking out the video beating the game without moving right to see it being done. (around the similar stage)
