Nicolas Almagro works his forehand and backhand groundies. It's good to see that the pros are human too and miss couple sometimes. Nice clean hitting. Almagro's backhand is great to watch...effortless.

Better comment than the last one. If you've watched him play lately you can surely tell that he's improved his attitude tremendously. He seems to be more motivated and focused on court, even though results haven't been outstanding this year. Still he's a top 10 player, which is why I highly doubt that he doesn't win matches. Almagro is one of the most talented guys on tour who's not top 5, he just lacks that little something to get to the very top. Most certainly though he's not garbage.

FYI, Almagro uses a Dunlop Hotmelt 300g. The paintjob changes often, of course.

I do watch tennis and play pretty much every day... being almost a super champ. And actually, as a person that hits hard and is very young, he is using quite a bit of effort. Most pros don't use that much effort in practice sessions, that's why you mostly don't see some of them that do grunt, grunt a lot. (A bit hard to understand) He's being very light on his footwork, but he is, in fact, using effort.

Dunlop Biomimetic 500 Tour...however the majority of pros rarely use retail rackets, they use pro stock rackets directly from the manufacturer. It may appear to be a Dunlop Biomimetic 500 Tour but underneath the paint job is entirely something else. I can do a video to show a side by side comparison of a pro stock and retail racket if anyone would be interested in seeing it.

i agree except for gasquet, he is capable of pulling out big FH but the majority of them land so short and sits up nicely for a put away. and almagro after he lost that tie break, he just shattered props to him for reaching the QF and put up a good fight though.

what about Sand Paper ? it is a good idea, or it doesn't worth ? I think to use Sand Paper to make the handle of the racket thiner, because my racket's handle is pretty thick, and it scratches my palm a little bit

WoW ! Almagro has quite A Really Strong Wrist ! he affords to hit hard many times, because of his wrist, and the best example is at 2:15 - 2:18, he hits the ball from a very 'crowded' position, he don't do the right ample shot in that moment (but he still hits it hard) Almagro can be a very good boxer (at least a very good puncher) :-)

AHAAA ! INTERESTING, I Didn't Knew That . . . yes, Control is provided by the way the racket is designed (definely with a heavier Dunlop Biomimetic 200 than Many Wilson Rackets it is more difficult to control the ball, you need to hit it harder, to drive the ball with more effort) . . . but I thought that the thickness of the strings essentialy influence the control so, the material used for the strings is the real essential, interesting . . . but definely the balls are also very important

Gasquet would rather hit his BH. When he was 19 I saw him play in Cincy, and he didn't hit his current "lasso" forehand. He hit through the ball and it was great. IDK what happened from then till now but not the same FH.

Not really. Gasquet's, Wawrinka's backhands are their stronger wings. Wawrinka's forehand tends to break down far before his backhand, and he hits more winners off of it. You don't really know what you're talking about - Sampras had a winning head to head over Agassi, arguably two of the greatest players of time. Mcenroe and Borg, again two of the all time greats, split their 14 meetings. Other than Nadal's dominance over Federer your point is a pathetic attempt at analysis.

I think its his temperament, that's why in a lot of occasion he was winning in the beginning of the match, then he got frustrated and in the end lost the match. Otherwise he could be winning more matches.

Something about one handed backhands. Wawrinka, Gasquet, and Almagro could all be top 5 but can't pull it together mentally. Just watched Almagro take Nadal to a tiebreaker on clay and they he fell apart.

I used to enjoy watching him hit from baseline; on both wings. Very good player. Average movement ability around court & limited versatility limited his ATP / Slam results. Really pure ball-striker, though
@surfjabroni
@surfjabroni 11 жыл бұрын
Great baseline player but he needs a few more weapons and variety such as a slice and volley. He only slices when he can't topspin his BH rather than throw it in for a different look. He goes for too much on his groundies trying to blow them off the court when he pushes them wide when all he needs to do is ghost and close the net for a volley into open space.

Let me clarify again. He's a talented tennis player, yes, and he's ranked 13th which is very good no doubt. When I say garbage, i'm not only talking about his tennis performance but I'm also talking about being a professional and having a good mentality/attitude which is just as important to professional athletes as being talented. He hasn't won any masters or grand slam titles, not because he's not talented, but because of his mentality. i guess you just didn't like me using the word garbage.

I'd say I know at least a little bit about tennis since I watch tennis and play on weekends... But if I ever "grunt" or breath out slightly louder is during a match, or when hitting an extremely hard flat shot.... It doesn'y look like he is putting too much effort in these shots, so for me it sounds a bit off...

Don't be so ignorant. It's not the rally, it's that he's hitting hard. You obviously don't grunt in tennis and don't understand it. If you don't understand it don't question it ignorantly like that. When you're playing it's easier to just let out noise instead of holding it in when you hit hard.

the frame (the racket itself) is not very different to a normal racket (I mean the component material of it), but Almagro's racket can be something much more different than a Biomimetic 500, that's true The Real Difference is made by The Strings, proffesional tennis players have very thin strings, for great control . . . but, it is pretty expensive . . . anyway, what people must know is that a really good racket have thin enough strings even so, the balls must be the best, the most elastic :-)
@mareqnyc
@mareqnyc 11 жыл бұрын
wow. what nonsense. Pro stock rackets with added wait, sure, they often go over 350g. But where did you see thin strings on tour? they all use 16, Nadal uses RPM Blast at 15. They would rip the 17-18 string in a few hits! Also thickness has nothing to do with control, the thinner the string the more spin and power it has. Control depends on the material the string is made of.Here is some cool verified info on what pros use, google colinthestringer for verified info on what pros use good day sir.
