Looking Back - A Tour Of My Former Country Home

In today's episode I wanted to escape the City and give you a tour of my former home on the East Coast of Scotland. I lived here from 2014-2017 with my long-term boyfriend.
I also share my favourite house in the world - Greywalls which was designed by the famous Edwardian architect, Sir Edwin Lutyens.

@@NicolasFairford In the 1930's North Berwick was an Edinburgh high society retreat. Those huge stone built houses near the Marine hotel held many a weekend party. My father was able to mix with many different levels of people, and was friends with a family who owned a house there and used to get invited along. In that era only the very rich owned cars and they would race down to North Berwick from Edinburgh for the weekend.

Nicolas - your videos make me yearn for days when there was a certain amount of elegance and decorum. There is such a soft spot in my heart for beautiful dinnerware, elegant tea cups and teapots. We have lost so much in the sense that no one dresses for family gatherings, church attendance, etc. We have all fallen victim to casual attire in the form of jeans and boots and it takes the "special" out of our activities. Thank you for filling my heart and mind with things of beauty - which bring about such a special joy for occasions to be celebrated. I hope you continue to spread the joy found in beautiful things and the warmth and charm of beautifully decorated living spaces.

Stunning. I have wanted to visit Scotland for a long time. Maybe some time after covid has run it’s course. My grandmother was from Scotland. The family owned Culzean Castle. She was a Kennedy. We have been invited to visit. It is now in a national trust. It would be a joy to vacation near the castle and visit the shops in the area. The apartment you lived in was very grand. If the introduction was shot this month, you were very lucky with the weather. It’s not usually like this in North Berwick in February! North Berwick has a great history. It was famous in the 1500s for its witch trials and burnings. It’s now famous for its house prices which, along with St Andrews and Troon, are amongst the highest in Scotland for a seaside golfing town.
