Love the start of the video and I was more amazed with the shine coming off the Shard. Awesome Button to start you off Nicola and found a few small fragments of those old printing blocks in my fields so to see a large one is great. Ah the HSBC and CITI lighting up the London Skyline, always the first buildings we see when we come into London on the Train. So much History still hiding away in the Thames Foreshore it's just amazing to still see it all coming up for you all. Keep up the great work guys and gals. the rbc brick is probably "royal brick company", i mean, its british, duhh! on nics lid, the little loop is for a chain attaching it to whatever it was a lid for, probably a flask or canteen of some sort. put tallio into google translator and it said it was greek for "talisman". the bent nature of your buckle probably speaks as to how it ended up in the thames. probably someones strap got caught on a stationary projection as a boat was pulling away from a dock or something and SNAP, the strap breaks and in the thames it goes. my guess for your tiny bottle is maybe a traveling inkwell. my guess for your fist would be a punch and judy puppet or marionette. for obvious reasons lol.

Where are the pink boots? Oh -- that tall knife-like building -- was it actually designed to create that "glow"? Or is that some unexpected thing that it produces at just the right time and conditions?

@@nicolawhitemudlark -- those pink boots are awesome! I was reading up on "The Shard" -- there are light shows where the interior and exterior are purposefully lit up with various colored lights, but it looks like the awesome glow/refraction that you have captured on video was not planned for -- I'd take that "light show" over a bunch of colored floodlights any day! Again -- one more awesome and beautiful part of your videos, well, there's always you of course also!!!! Hopefully the weather holds out as we head into the winter months and you can still get out there and find more history to share with us all!

This is such a sweet video. I love Si-Finds, he is so cute and is so in sync with you, lovely Nicola, I'm sitting here with my gin and coke and relaxing after helping a friend prepare for a garage sale, then feeding my goat "Little Girl", kiss and hugging and squishing my dove, Malcolm who "cooed" all the way back to his cage, then kissing my husband on the head until it hurt, and then back to my computer to watch your fun. I am still sober, however the edge is now off and I'm ready to dive into the Thames, and at 67 I know better then to dive in without clothes. Margaret :-)

Can you do a follow up on the printing plate? I found a much smaller one but it has around 4 different stories on it and I've managed to date back to 1896 due to the stories it carries. One of which is about a new cyclists shed built just inside Hampton Court Lion's Gate! I'm assuming normally these plates would be melted down to make more plates making these reasonably rare?!?

Lovely video! It's a lazy Sunday for me out in the Arizona desert, so I'm spending it doing a few favorite things (of which watching mudlarking videos is one) while I do the laundry. That little spectacle buckle actually had me wondering if it was gold-plated, it came out of the mud so very shiny! Beautiful thing. So was the train button; that wyvern design was really finely done. The tiny Tally Ho! button made me laugh-- in the town where I grew up (Panama City, Florida) there's an old restaurant named the Tally-Ho that serves burgers, fried fish and so forth dating back to 1949, and it used to be that you could drive up to it and blow your horn and a waitress would come out and take your order.

Love when you and Si treasure hunt together. Your photography is brilliant, of the sun beams off the building, and the moon shot at night.

According to Wikipedia, the Midland Railway was established in 1844 - a lot earlier than the 1906 quoted. It was amalgamated with several other companies to form the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (the good old LMS!) in 1922.

ooh no, Midland Railway 1846-1922, long history. There were quite a few isolated coal and goods depots south of the Thames which belonged to railway companies based north of the Thames; they had access rights over the tracks of the LSWR, LB&SCR and SE&CR to reach them. In Croydon, the area NE of Fairfield Hall was a depot belonging to the Great Eastern Railway, for example. So the MR button could have pinged off the jacket of a goods train guard crossing the river.

Tally Ho is a "109-year old English sailing yacht called Tally Ho. Designed by Albert Strange in 1909, she is a well-known and important historic vessel - but after many adventures she was left in a remote port in Oregon to rot for decades, despite some valiant attempts to rescue her. I bought her and moved her to the Olympic Peninsular and am rebuilding her from the keel up. Eventually I hope to sail her back to the UK." From kzbin.info/door/g-_lYeV8hBnDSay7nmphUAabout . Behind this: Leo Sampson Goolden, a Boatbuilder, Sailor and Writer from Bristol, England. Leo is completely rebuilding Tally Ho and documents the process in KZbin.

EARTH ANGEL 💔. It looks to me that the stone that was set in the copper ring was actually forcefully taken from it’s mount !!!!!🤔. As you already know In long ago times, precious gems were not always set in gold!!! 💍👍🎃🌚🌇

Always good to watch your stuff... A few years ago used to do a similar pursuit splapping about in mud, off of Canvey island.. There is an old roman site on the eastern tip, I believe they produced salt there.. When there was high easterly winds it used to strip the mud away revealing all its treasures.. Sadly I live in France now and am landlocked, but I get to watch your amazing prog instead... BTW another one of my favourite You Tube productions is Sampson boat co, a young chap rebuilding an awesome old boat... The boat is called Tally Ho the same as the button you found.....

Thinking about the buckle, if I estimate the original owner lived in 1700 and a generation is 25 years and 3 children per generation, that person has about 21,500,000 descendants now. In 2019 there were 67,500,000 people in Great Britain so if your family is generally from England you have about a 1 in 3 chance of being a direct descendant of the buckle owner. (I haven't done the math, used an internet calculator)

Hi Nicola great finds again. I was wondering if you have ever found a tin bubbels pipe.( to blow bubbles) It was a old toy. I Found one years ago. I lived in London when i was in my Twenties. If i only knew than ... that mud larking ( metal detecting was such a great hobby. I would have problably saved me 1000ths of pounds. Rather than going to the pups i would have been so much better to mudlark then. Regards Joris Put.
