Thanks for this. From 1977 to 1999 the Eurovision rules were that entries had to be in one of the official languages of that country. The reprise is wonderful, I remember it well. I live in Kiev since 2006 as a result of visiting the 2005 final. Ireland still tops with 7 wins but they're so long ago. Riverdance still going though.

@@kirstybristow2323 She's European, it's normal for them to speak multiple languages (that said, at her age back then, it's quite a success). I'm from a South-Eastern Asian country and 3 out of 4 languages I speak are European, so I'd say, it's entirely possible
@G6JPG3 жыл бұрын
@@kirstybristow2323 Not to belittle her achievement, but she learnt _the words to the song_ in those languages, which is not the same as learning the languages. Though her stresses etc. are correct, so maybe she _did_ learn the languages! Certainly Germans learn languages better than we do (though that applies to almost any other nation!).

There are no words for this but I'll try. Simply outstanding. A 3 minutes song about peace with those amazing changes of language says everything about how mankind could live together. And she learned all the languages and was ready to do this without even knowing if she would win. And then, live in front of millions she absolutely nails it. That can only come from the heart. For me, one of the most powerful moments on TV. Right up there with the coverage of Nelson Mandela walking from jail to freedom. Bravo.

Gearing up for the Eurovision Song Contest marathon across the BBC tonight. It can't be the same, but I can live with a night of repeats of glory days, enjoying the vibe. I’m with Graham Norton; “It’s almost impossible, I think, to explain Eurovision to someone who doesn’t know what it is or hasn’t seen it before because you’ve got to know how it got to where it is today.....”. I'm a firm BREXIT supporter and I stand by my beliefs that we're stronger as an independent UK, but I am kinda sad that the rest of Europe will never let us win the competition again because of way our vote unfolded. But I will always love Eurovision regardless. This will always remain one of the finest Eurovision moments ever.
