Wow I softened up about 5 leaf springs last year to make knife and I never got back to it. I think I'll carve it out then send it off to be hardened professionally, so it's straight, and then finish it up.

Excellent! Make a video of the process

Also, I fully agree with the idea of getting "dirt time". But most (if not all) of the useful skills that she is talking about is outlawed on "public lands" (what a sick reality).

Cool, big fan. I really like her knife design. Funny, I was dreaming about a one knife solution and thought of the same thing regarding the edge geometry at the handle being thinned out for finer work. I honestly think she came up with about the best over all design for a one knife option with regards to doing it all. Especially the size and weight being just heavy enough to chop with the forward bias, brilliant. To be honest, I am really surprised that this is not a far more common design as it really makes a lot of sense.

Thanks! It worked very well for me. Thank Ron Macy of yakibaforge@gmail.com for his fine work in making this knife!

Well it is very close to a Kukri, but thinner. Either way it is a sweet blade.

+Bill Randall everyone on Alone was restricted so actually there are plenty of reasons that people can find themselves with only one knife. I prefer two, but I'll learn skills for only one.

+TJack Survival Thank you. This is a very good knife video. I've watched 100s of knife videos and this is up in the top three, and maybe the number 1. The way she went through why this is a one tool option is very well done. She could really sell these knife on a grand scale. I mean she could make this knife huge.

for oiling the knife to use oil from animal fat, should we worry about attracting bear? Obviously Nicole was fine. I am just wondering how that works.
@TJackSurvival8 жыл бұрын
Animal fat is an ancient way to do it. If you are worried then use mineral oil on the little stuff and Linseed oil on the big choppers and more patinaed blades.

I used a water catchment system (boiled the first 2 days), so only drank rain water I caught off my tarp...worked well!
@TJackSurvival8 жыл бұрын
True, it's all about probabilities. The issue is that you will die in three days with out water and you might get sick if you drink. That makes it the lesser of two evils sometimes.

dunno why anyone cares much about a knife. For millennia did what needed to be done with just stones. For hundreds of years, with just copper, bronze or iron knives, too. For hundreds of years, plain old blades like today's Old Hickory knives did it all, too. No belt knife can do anything close to what can be done with a Cold Steel shovel and a Crunch Multitool, with different saw blades to be held in the visegrip of the Crunch. Dont get hung up on belt knives, folks. They dont mean much at all in the general scheme of things.
