I juust stumbled upon this outstanding performance. Both vocal and instrumental. Ten years later, it doesn't skip a beat.

Eric Frazier Jazz Eric!! Thank you so much for your kindest compliment. I bet like you, I am missing the audiences and the stages quite deeply. I feel like a different person. But I must say the live-streaming gives a certain level of fulfillment I didn’t expect. It feels connected...thank God. 😌 hope you sing for you soon again. I always appreciate seeing you in the audience!

Loved the performance of Nicole Henry on a Bill Withers favorite “Use Me.” She gave it her all and so did her band! Powerful! Kay Ross Grant

@@NicoleHenryMusic Hi, I've written more below. This was really a great performance all around; your talent & that of your colleagues shines through. I met Bill Withers many years ago in NYC & his subtlety was literally a thing I thought of later when I had time to reflect. You're very expressive & yet don't smother that subtle touch of inflection in his delivery... a real bravura performance.

Brian Sørensen 😄😄😄 No. Chiv can make any ‘drummer’ feel inadequate...I’m certain you know what you’re doing...in YOUR way 😋. I’ll make sure I let David know you enjoyed his playing. And thanks again. I definitely miss playing with my band during this pandemic. But it could always be worse

@@NicoleHenryMusic Please do. Lol. You're such a gem. I'll be there once you get back on stage. Hopefully sooner than later. Here in Denmark everything is now opened up again. You''ll be back to normal soon. Best wishes until then.

I LOVE THAT SONG!!! I think I sang it once, about 5-6 years ago. Dinah...!! I wanna say I heard Ernestine Anderson sing it too...but I'm tired and not sure if I'm thinking right :)...thanks for the request/suggestion. I need to revisit that song. FOR SURE!! Have you recorded it?

That Sista needs to leave that song alone. Don't do that to Bill. R.I.P to the one & only Bill Withers. Ya stop lying to this woman.

@@briansrensen8204 that's what you believe. I'm sure if she recorded this song back in 71-72 it would've been a hit. I'm sure the Easter Bunny is real to.

@@donaldcurry9472 I'm not that easily swayed by "covers"; they often offer little on the original, either staying too close or straying too far, neither adding anything, in any way, of even being an "homage" but this is different & yes, if only it's a woman's iteration of the notion of "using" but her intonation is dynamic; the "line readings" are given a shading you don't hear - though Bill Withers had it. It is a great performance also in that the other musicians are allowed to shine - & they are all stellar - & NH doesn't overwhelm them, nor they her & she's literally sharing the stage the way a good artist does. I think Bill Withers would have loved this; I met him in the Village & spoke with him one NYC day long ago - when that & a less expensive fare would get you on the subway.
@briansrensen82044 жыл бұрын
@@donaldcurry9472 who cares if it would have been a hit or not. Most hits suck anyways. I don't get your point. This is a modern, jazzy interpretation of a great soul classic which I many others find inspiring and have great pleasure listening to. What's the problem? I don't think Bill would see one. Nothing is lost from his version.

@@JP51ism I get your worthless point. I mean, "I thinks she needs to leave that song alone. Point dam blank. You like it. To each his own.
