I was thinking as I watched this what is it about Nicole that is so endearing to me. I mean yeah she is pretty but it's not that....yeah the accent is eloquent but it's not that...then it hit me. She is so down to earth, and even a little bit kooky which is rare for someone with her celebrity status to keep about themselves after this many years in the industry. It's refreshing to see her be herself, just like any other regular person. Yes I know celebrities are people too, but you all know what I mean I think.

Being the Ricardos had a mayor flaw, the actors were simply too old to play their parts. By the time I love Lucy first aired in 1951, Lucille Ball was 40 years old and Desi Arnaz was 34. By the year the movie was made (2021), Kidman was 55 and Bardem was 53. That's 15 and 19 years older than their respective character. Sadly, it showed in the movie, particularly with Bardem.

I found it very interesting contrasting the way Nicole played a psychologist versus her friend Naomi Watts. Both beautifully played, and both stories talked about the undoing of a well established woman.

I'll keep an open mind, cuz ya never know, but I don't see her as Lucille Ball. I see Debra Messing or Megan Mullally or someone instead. Lucy was very loud and dramatic and silly and had some crazy facial expressions. Nicole is regal no matter how much you disguise her looks and has far too much botox to play Lucy's expressions. I just don't see it. Mind you, I hope she proves me wrong, just saying I just can't see it. I hope they know what they are doing. Also Nicole is 4" taller and a completely different body type than Lucy. How would they ever get the image right?
